wots the reasoning that Mayo League are representing Connacht in non league and not Mervue as in prev yrs?

Mervue and Salthill were supposed to continue in it after Galway FC joined the First Division far as I remember.

Monday coming (March 28th), 2 p.m. kick off in the RSC. It was originally down for Monday last (March 21st) but was moved to next Monday due to the U21 international qualifier against Italy tomorrow evening.
So I reckon the last 16 looks like this:
Pool 1 – Limerick, Waterford/Rockmount, Cork, Wexford
Pool 2 – Finn Harps, Galway, Derry, Sligo
Pool 3 – Bluebell, Bray, Dundalk, Pats
Pool 4 – Bohemians, Shelbourne, Athlone, Shamrock Rovers
Yeah, that's right. The 2nd round is the last of "groups"

As far as I can see, it's because the Mayo League runs concurrently with the LOI. I don't know if that's actually the reason, but it's as good a reason as any. As for the other two, Galway clubs don't tend to do much in the Junior Cup and Salthill actually got relegated from the Galway Junior Premier.

So I reckon the last 16 looks like this:
Pool 1 – Limerick, Waterford/Rockmount, Cork, Wexford
So thats Limerick v Waterford/Rockmount and Cork City v Wexford (not sure if we will be home or away, but I am sure we will draw them. Last year was the anomaly.

There was no guard of honour for us in cobh last night.
Thought it was a bit disrespectful but then maybe they didn't do it because it was just a cup game?
Will have to see if athlone do the right thing saturday.

Looks like Limericks run is over. I refuse to believe that Wexford and Cork City will be kept apart in the League Cup two years in a row. Impossible.

Ha roddy Collins is some man, was chatting to JC by the tunnel then turns to us saying I know all the songs and then sings roddy Collins your a w**nker.. Going to be a very small crowd by the looks of it only around 30 in the ground, I know it's early but can't see it breaking 1k

Harps make 10 changes from Friday night.
Great to see Rafter getting a start, hopefully he can show he's fit enough for a place on the bench at least. We're crying out for a player of his quality.

No goals in any of the four games at half time.. not a great half from our point of few thus far. Improvement needed in the second half as our finishing is deserting us again

Dundalk could do with this game to get some proper form going. But top of the table patchy form, cant complain too much. Still dont want to go out of the competition either especially playing at home.

Cork had an average enough second half there. Sounds like it was all out attack from them.
Did JC go home at ht???

Good job Cork were drawn at home otherwise Waterford might have had some chance to keep it respectable.

Terrible first half from Cork thought the midfield was very poor. Found their shooting boots 2nd half thankfully.

All you need is a striker.
Pats worked hard in defence. Feely, a converted winger, was excellent. As was the whole back 4 really. Verdon was OK in midfield but we offered nothing going forward
Felt like Dundalk could step it up at any time and they didn't really, bar the odd flurry. Still had enough chances to win but think most of the saves for Clarke and Jennings were comfortable enough. Poynton's effort off the bar would have been some goal

Pretty fair summary. We lack a killer instinct, too many players wanting to pass the ball rather than make an attempt on goal.
Pats back four were very composed and made sure that they made no mistakes under pressure.

In fairness, that was essentially a full strength Limerick team against a Wexford team that made 10 changes from their last league game.

Ya it's looking like Limerick are taking both cup very seriously obviously promotion is the no1 target but I reckon Martin Russell knows they will win that league with games to spare leaving him to take the cups seriously.
