At least people can't be giving out about signing a load of English blow ins this season....
There's time yet:cool:

At least with the english blow ins you knew what you were getting.robbie williams hasnt been a bad player or sam oji fi he re signs?its very worrying that the club seems to be looking to younger players and poor quality recruits to progress the team.i can see them at the minute as relegation candidates for next season.they wont get big crowds going to the markets field with the team thats there at the minute.only 6 or 7 weeks to season kicking off.

I wouldn't mind the club going after a couple of junior players but they would need to be the better ones. Not just lads brought in the bulk up the squad for the sake of it.

Would be great to see a few local in the side.A team the people of Limerick can relate to.Better than watching the likes of Craig Curran prancing around the place and jumping ship the second things didn't go his way.

We had Hughes, Lynch, Tracey, Duggan, Costello , Rainsford and Mann in the squad last year and all are Limerick lads. Also Red O Hanlon and Barry Sheedy up to July who are also Limerick lads.

Craig Curran was pushed out rather than jumping ship in fairness.

We need good Limerick lads if we are getting some in. No point in packing a team full of locals to get hammered every week. We have done that before and no one came out and supported the team.

It doesn't matter where the players are from, if they win games we'll get more supporters. Nothing else has anywhere close to that power when it comes to getting people in the gate.

That squad list above won't do that. It's shocking.

There is no-one in the junior leagues in Limerick good enough for what we need right now, it would be fine if they came in to a squad filled with premier quality players not coming into a squad already not good enough for this league.

The stuff about about Craig Curran is madness too one of the hardest working players I have ever seen at the club worked a lot harder than most of the Limerick lads we have had though the years.

I'd agree that the priority should be elsewhere in players. I think we could get some players who would do a job, like Clarke, Mullins, Waters etc. but they're not really the spine of the team you'd be looking for to carry you through a big season. It must be pretty disheartening for some more established players to see how unorganised it all is.
I said it before, but if you're going after guys like Ronan Finn, you need to have other players there that can attract his type in. Like if Patterson was close to signing at any point, one look at the squad he was joining would have made up his mind for him.

The only problem now is that the best players in the league are signed up.not many quality players left.as mentioned above.who would want to join a team like we have at the minute?

Was at the game today.the centre half no 5 was excellent for a young lad.strong in the air and some great passes.pity he isnt a bit older and a stone heavier.he would be a good addition to the seniors.shane duggan and paul o connor played well in the middle of the park.ian turner wasnt bad on the wing.robbie williams also did well.hard to rate any of the other players as they werent really tested by leeds, especially in the second half.3-1 wasnt a bad result but could have scored a few more.leeds put it up to them in the first half but fell away in the second half.

Would agree with you that the team that played today wont be strong enough for the season ahead.it does need major recruitment but a lot of the guys playing today were under 19's and wont be starting games for the seniors.paudie o connor was the lad playing centre half who was excellent today.

Hard to tell from todays game.all the goals were good but the oppossition? no disrespect to leeds.its when they come up against stronger loi teams then it will show.time will tell.at the moment the team is way short of being competitive in the league.if you ask me it needs 5 or 6 good players.

Who do you think will be starting for the seniors instead of these "19s" players?

There was exactly no senior players missing today.

Expect to see a lot more of them than you think id say

Every single one of the senior players we have signed so far played in that starting 11 today every one.

And calling up lads that have already been released and are now basically not wanted by the junior they went to for training isn't gonna help.

If the team that played yesterday is the best that limerick supporters can look forward too for the new season?limerick can kiss goodbye to the premier division.nobody mentioned that senior players were missing yesterday.a lot of the under 19's arent good enough for the senior team.darragh rainsford was useless yesterday and he is talking about going to england?tony whitehead was ok but not up too a full premier season.paudie o'connor was the best of the lads from the under 19's that played yesterday.

With just six weeks to the start of the season and the squad looking so threadbare could anyone tell me anything about the current playing circumstances of the following;

Samuel Oji
Patrick Nzuzi
Jason Hughes
Shane Tracey
Mick Leahy
Prince

Have the club made any contact with any of the aforementioned? Did they fail to agree terms with any of them? Have any found new clubs? Have any of them disappeared of the face of the planet? Are any of them training with Pikes B team or plying their trade in the desmond league!!
We could do with all six of them but failing that surely the two local boys can be secured?

Oji: Training with Cheltenham has offer in America had been told he had signed with us but no sign of him.

Nzuzi: Made an offer early in off season turned it down nothing since.

Hughes: Made an offer that was turned down was still talking to the club up to a few weeks ago all gone quiet now.

Tracy: Hasn't heard anything from the club as far as I know.

Leahy: Talking to Drogs apparently told he wasn't needed at Limerick.

Prince; Supposedly signed but wont have work permit til season starts like last season.

Surprised with the Leahy one when you consider he was Russells captain at UCD as far as I know.

Very tempting offer for Oji, Limerick or America. I'm sure most would jump at the chance to go to the states. Maybe it doesn't suit him personally though.

I'd imagine the problem with Tracey is probably due to the fact he is so injury prone.

Hopefully Hughes gets sorted. Local lad, great attitude and work ethic. Need some more like him.

Two lads that were only released a few months ago.

No offence to either of them but if they weren't good enough six months ago how can the club justify that they are now?

On a side note are there any other regular season ticket holders here and have you bothered renewing yet? I know quiet a few that haven't renewed yet and usually do before Christmas.

Admittedly against sub standard opposition but dean clarke seems to have an eye for goal. I wonder how Martin Russell really feels about how his squad is shaping up. Maybe he wants to change the dynamic of the team entirely from last season and isn't pushed about resigning some of last years lads....in Russell we trust!

He's a nice lad but he hardly set the junior league alight, LOI is a bigger step up than people think good luck to the Junior lads but if that's all we get they'll be playing to very small crowds. Haven't renewed season ticket.
