liam o connor was always a drama queen and will always be one. He is always the centre of attention. Theres some good referees in the league but theres some terrible refs also. Some should just retire. They are just there for the money. But then again theres no young refs coming in.

Old Man, Surely you cant expect people to believe that you are not a Pallaskenry man. All you've done since you joined this thread is talk up Pallaskenry before they ever played a game and slate Kildimo. What I really like about this thread is that there is noone coming on being completely biased and praising their own club and slating others and you have ruined that with some of your comments. I have no doubt you are a Pallaskenry man and most likely part of the team. You live in Kilcornan and like going to local games? You never mention Kilcornan or Askeaton games you attend. Just Kildimo and Pallas.

Regarding Liam O Connor, yes he is a complete drama queen but is also one of the best refs in the league, he just likes to make the game revolve around him. A wise man once told me that a ref who is a control freak on the field most likely has no control with the wife, he likes to get a bit of freedom. Problem is, players hurl abuse at him and he doesnt let them away with it, you will notice the same lads get booked everytime he refs a particular team. For mouthing.

Regarding Kildimos facilities from a previous post from yourself. Yes they are shocking and possibly the worst in the league. But Pallaskenry isnt exactly old trafford. Its an awful pitch, filthy dressing rooms and showers that I wouldnt look into, not to mind actually try and wash myself in them. So you cant really slag other teams.

Rant over!! I just hate posters like this looking for praise for their own club by pretending they are not a part of it. And Old Man is at this since August

Lads can we get over Kildimo's facilities for once and for all and concentrate on the soccer on this. We know the facilities aren't up to scratch but we are doing our best to improve them. We are not in the lucky position to have a community field or to be donated land like other clubs have been. As part the housing estate that was developed in Kildimo, a playing pitch was supposed to be developed for the club. This didn't happen for several reasons, mainly due to the recession. Since then we have been trying to move on and explore other options but as every club knows, it has been very difficult to raise money, get loans etc. over the last number of years.

We have got a B team back this year, good young players coming through, our underage setup is very good, so the club is moving forwards and hopefully we can add the facilities soon. But it doesn't happen overnight. Take NCW Rovers for example, Newcastle West is a huge town with plenty of scope for fundraising etc., yet Rovers played on that terrible pitch for years, before getting new facilities this year.

I know we are not in a position to throw stones, but I agree with NathanBrown, filthy portacabins with old pub furniture doesn't count as dressing rooms in my book.

To start off with. I have never slatted the kildimo team only there facilities. I am not a Pallaskenry man.the team I follow for years is Newcastlewest. I dont talk about them because they are going threw a tough time at the moment and I dont want to add fuel to the fire.as for kilcornan and askeaton ill go to a premier or division 1 match before id go to a division 2,3 game. As for liam being one of the best refs.he must be a friend of yours or your lookin for him to do your team a favour. Cos from what I saw yesterday he owes Pallaskenry an apology.

good win for abbey the weekend that 3 top results for them after beating rathkeale and a draw with broadford but then lost to shannonside...... very unpredicatable it seems. ratheale and rovers should be a good game at the weekend two good attacking teams itll come down to who wants it more on the day i think ....

Shaping up for a cracker of a game Sunday in Rathkeale. Hopefully a good crowd turnout to see two of the in form premier teams playing against each other.

Haven't seen rovers yet this year. But going by the observer Joyce is scoring for fun.

But I think if Rathkeale defence can stay firm, there pace up front and on the wings seems lightning and will cause problems for Rovers.

It is actually a pity we have these two Desmond teams drawn against each other, could have progressed further.

Is it coincidence that two local teams drew each other? As in is it open draw?

fanaticfan

its not open draw till the 5th round. Always has been 5th round

sexyfootball
07/10/2014, 9:54 AM
I think the point runinglate & I tried to make previously is that, of the 8 Desmond League teams left in the draw in the Desmond/Clare/ Kerry section, 6 are playing each other.
As he said it extremly lessens our leagues chances of having teams progress further as Newcastle West did last year.

On a serious note though I think the lack of new referee's is a bigger problem and probably leads to some staying on longer than they should out of neccessity

runinglate
08/10/2014, 7:11 PM
I like that.

In fairness I think that the referee's are actively seeking new lads to come on board.

I think the major problem is (correct me if I'm wrong) that you have to cut any official involvement with a soccer club.
Meaning that if you play soccer on a Sunday (junior) you are not allowed to start refereeing underage games on a Saturday.

In my opinion this is the only way we will be able to breed new referees by giving young lads still playing soccer the opportunity to earn a few pound on a Saturday.
If I had the opportunity to earn 65-70 euro on a Saturday while I was in college I would have jumped at the opportunity. I think this is out of the referees control.

I would also like to state that I think personal remarks should not be levied at anyone on this site, question someones performace be it player, manager , referee. But lets not make it personal. Oldman thinks liam had a bad game Sunday fair enough, Pallaskenry probally had a bad game too. Move on bring on next Sunday.

I think Abbey got to last 16 or last 8 maybe around 2002 or so, which was the best ever run in the FAI by a Desmond side, but I'm open to correction on that.

There was a few young refs a couple of seasons ago and they were fairly good. They seem to have disappeared now though.
In relation to oldmans take on Liam O'Connor. I was at that match vs itas. He was ok the only decision he got wrong was to send off the pallas player for a collision with moxey. Other than that it was standard Liam with the shouting. I get over that because at least he knows the rules unlike some

The Enforcer

Creeves got to last 16 in the mid 2000's and Broadford also got there 2 or 3 years ago, I think St Itas also got that for

St itas reached the last 8 of the munster junior cup lost to clonmel town. Askeatin got to munster junior cup final back un the 80's Donie Gorman was on that team. As mentioned Abbey reached last 16 in fai early 00's beaten by a dublin team

I always find it strange when teams don't enter the FAI. Gives you the chance of s day out and for teams like us in the lower leagues. It gives us a chance to play better teams with no pressure on

Loving the league this year. So open, Rathkeale still favourites for me but I think Newcastle Rovers, Broadford and maybe Abbey will contest but still really early! Newcastle West to go down and between Athea and Killeaney to fill the other spot !!

Totally agree its shaping up to be a fantastic season. I'd fancy rathkeale too but as you say a long way to go still. If ncw lose to carrig on sunday it will leave them adrift at the bottom

sportsfanatic
13/10/2014, 9:47 PM
Going back to Carrig is always tough especially for a team who are going through a bad very bad run, If they lose they will be 7 points from safety! Interesting to see how Abbey get on against Ballingarry this weekend, a win for either side will really give them a good position in challenging for the title

If NCW can't win this weekend it may be too much of a gap to close

Ncw have to beat carrig the weekend otherwise they are gone id say

walkover
14/10/2014, 2:53 PM
Early days yet, 2 years ago Rovers only had 4 points in February but managed to get 4 wins in last few weeks of the season to force 3 way play-off.
I wouldn't write off Ncw just yet!!

On another note, Oscar Traynor's apparently playing friendly this evening. I wonder what kind of squad they'll have

Abbeyfeale had a great win yesterday, they might actually contest for the league this year, with the catchment area they have they should be every season! It's seems like going back to Abbey is very tough for teams, they have already beaten Rathkeale, NCW Rovers and Ballingarry and drew with Broadford, great results for them.

Am I right in saying there is no matches for the Premier this weekend?
