Happy new year, how come no one post full results anymore? I see abbeyfeale have another big game this wk,could make or break them,Broadford look favourites and will def win it if they get 3 points..some big fixtures still to come, does anyone know when oscar traynor wknd is?

southern kid you can get all the results from the website - http://ldfl.leaguerepublic.com/l/league/6093030.html & the Oscar Traynor lost to Limerick District 2-1 on the 28th December, so their last game against Kerry is meaningless for Desmond but Kerry have to win to have any chance of qualifying!
Big game this weekend with Rathkeale drawing & both Broadford & Abbey winning last weekend.
Big 3 points for Abbey against Rovers (3-0) seems a pretty easy win by the scoreline... anyone at the game? Although I do know Rovers were missing a share beacuse of the U21 County Final as i imagine Athea would have been too!
Abbey & Broadford should be a good game... I'm gonna call Abbey to win it!

Ya it should be a cracker of a game between abbeyfeale and broadford. I'm gonna go with an abbeyfeale win myself. I said a few weeks ago that they have the best squad this year and will win the league if they keep going the way they are.

Yeah I remember a guy called western gale used to post all the results every Sunday nice and early. And harry lime used to post photos of games every Sunday as well

Any one any idea when Desmond cup draw will be? Its looking like all 4 divisions will go down to the wire to decide champions. Very exciting year actually. Div 3 looks very good with 3 decent sides pushing for the 2 promotion spots with 2 games remaining each. Any idea what would happen if all 3 teams finished on same points? Div 2 Askeatons form has really come on. Will be close between themselves and Granagh for promotion you would think. Breska surely wont be caught? Div 1. Still fancy Glin, a good side, always hard beat. Toss up then between Abbey B, Rathkeale B and Kildimo. Prem is very good, Great to see it so competitive. I am going to go with Broadford to win, they are a great side. I am going to go with Abbey as runners up. I think Rathkeale are suffering because of players going with Limerick Football, correct me if I'm wrong on this, and for this reason I see them falling away slightly.

Askeaton won't drop a single point between now and the end of the season. That includes a home victory in your classic 6-pointer against Breska to go top. Heard it here first :-) Of course I can't know that for sure...but...too many old heads with good feet.

If teams finish level on points it goes to a playoff - happened 2 seasons ago in Divsion 1 with Athea/Kildimo/Rockhill all finishing level on points - I think (I might be wrong) they tossed a coin to decide who got a bye and Rockhill beat Kildimo and played off with Athea for the title with both promoted

I agree about Askeaton, hard to say any team will not drop a point for that many games but they are way too strong for div2 and would rattle div1 with the same team. They will win the division, im fairly confident of that.

I would have serious isues with being promoted by the toss of a coin

The Askeaton revolution has come to pass. They are on a roll playing good football and will be a serious contender in division one next year.

League is Abbeys to lose after today, can't see them slipping up now. Desmond Cup draw will probably be made at next desmond league meeting, usually the night clubs have to pay the second half of there fees

Going to be a massive battle to avoid relegation. To close to call it I think. Should be a great finale to the season with every club battling for points

Agree that it seems to be Abbeys to lose now... great result for them the weekend, anyone at the match? Rathkeale drawing with NCW too, good result for NCW. Looks like its gonna go down to the wire at both ends of the table this season.
Withregards to 3 teams tied on points didn't that happen with relegation form the premier a few seasons back? Killeaney, Rovers & Glin all tied. Ended up playing each other once... Glin stayed up after a draw & a win... in my opinion the fairest way to it!
Langerdan007
13/01/2015, 1:39 PM
Ya I wasn't sure how it played out - I was at the Kildimo-Rockhill game and after Rockhill won Kildimo were out of the promotion running, maybe they had played Athea already and it was a 3 way playoff - it certainly is the fairest way
Will there be games the weekend - weather is pretty bad - how were pitches after last weekend?

I agree the league is in Abbeys hands and with them already playing Rathkeale twice Rathkeale have to depend on others for them. Broadford will go close but Abbey should shave it. What are Abbey and Ballingarrys chances of progressing to the last 16 of munster?
Can anyone tell me where Granagh United's grounds are please , Travelling from Kerry to a game their Saturday .

Aldo, go in to Newcastle west.go to roundabout at limerick side of town, take right heading for ballingarry/Kilmallock,go out that road for about ten miles an take a left for granagh,it's after the turn off off to left for ballingarry so don't take that one, the football pitch is back of a shop/petrol pumps, not a great pitch to be fair, should take 15/ 20 mins from ncw max

I think ballingarry will win handy, north tipp teams normally not great, except the top few, the abbey game could be interesting but moyross shud progress wit a few goals to spare,by all accounts abbey missing a few due to a stag an apparently they planned it for Munster cup wknd which in my eyes shows a complete lack of respect for Munster cup.

Munster Junior games still on, both teams doing pitch inspections at 10 o clock in the morning. If one is unplayable then they will play in Clonreask with this confirmed by the league. Abbey have priority as they booked it first

Cancelled, changed to Wednesday instead! Ballingarry playing Glenthorn who are second division in Cork, fantastic chance to get into quarter finals and a home draw too. Abbey will face a tough test away to Nenagh but with the form they have and showing they can compete with the so called big boys in Limerick District they also have a great chance

It is an achievement for any team to win a league - I just wanted to know his reasoning on the opinion
For me Rathkeale B should be a strong team, I dont know the make up of the team but the success that has been seen with the group of young players in the last 4-5 years with Sean Finns GAA must surely feed into the soccer set up and their A's have long been a draw for players from far and wide so to me it should be no surprise to see the B's doing well
Similarly Abbey B and Newcastle West B (although I understand the troubles in NCW this season) should be strong, large town's, plenty of underage teams to feed up and premier teams which can draw on players from surrounding areas should allow for the fielding of strong B teams
I know the arguments against this - B team players getting called up to A teams etc, I wasn't trying to denigrate any achievement was just interested in the reasoning.
