Weird how Cliftonville have time for a friendly but no time in their schedule for their probable two game elimination from the Setanta Cup.

Limavady 1-3 Derry City.
Pitch was soft so Roddy didn't want to risk the senior players. Was basically our U19 team playing.

How many of the Galway starting XI are likely to be from that Mervue squad last season? They've made some good signings from outside also.
I would say a minimum of 6 would have started for Mervue last season. Its hard to tell really as we have a large squad, with some fantastic signings from outside of the mervue/salthill links as well. Watch out for Jake Keegan, he will score a good few goals for us this season IMO.

I thought pre-season games between teams from the same division aren't allowed? Should have been the A team players only.
There's no rule about that that I know of- it's just generally not done since teams play so often anyway.

Why is it even frowned upon? We've done it several times before too. There's not an abundance of senior clubs in the country to choose from like?

By whom is it frowned upon? It's fine but it's fairly stupid when you're going to be playing the same teams up to 6 times during the season and there is an entire other division here as well as the Irish League to play against.

It's not actually frowned upon I was just being facetious really, paraphrasing a line I heard somewhere, "It's like marrying your cousin, it's not illegal but it is frowned upon".
To change the subject, Drogs are 5/4 to beat us tonight. Worth a pound or two

What was Luke Giverin like?
He only came on after about an hour and didn't do much wrong but then he didn't see much of the ball either, it was hard to judge as the game had become quite disjointed through subs at that stage.
Is Giverin still with Cork? Saw a bit of him with United reserves and thought him a tidy player.

I think he's gone from us a while now, Caulfield said that Dave O'Leary from Limerick was likely to be the last remaining signing (assuming that happens).

Even if O'Leary doesn't sign I'm happy enough with our squad at this stage. We'll be far more physical this season and there's more goals in us. We'll still leak them, but at least the games should be entertaining.

He played for some part of a friendly but Caulfield said even though he was a good player he wasn't any better that what we already had.
