To be honest i really believe the manager lost us the first leg.If he had picked his best side and let the team play im convinced we would have got at least a draw. Some of his substitutions were also baffling.Im not optimistic for the 2nd leg for the simple reason that i can't see us scoring over there. The Molde game was the same as every other game we've had recently...loads of possession but creating nothing,in fact i don't think the Molde keeper had a save to make.My heart tells me if we get an early goal it could be possible but my head tells me we could get beaten by a few out there...have a feeling Molde will step it up a couple of levels from what we seen last week.

Apart from the full length push away from McMillan in the first half?

Good luck to Sligo tonight
TBF the draws were hard for the LOI teams this year, bar pats

Molde go 1-0 up after four minutes. Sligo have looked nervous at the back.

Sligo coming into it more now. Good spell of pressure. They've had three decent chances in the last four minutes or so. Elding really should have scored. And now a free header just wide from the edge of the six-yard box. You really have to take those chances...

Charlie Darwin

Tougher ask now but it's still there to be won. Molde look badly-coached.

Yeh reckon they have just blown chance to get back into the tie

They're not out just yet. Two goals unanswered will still take Sligo through. Plenty of time yet and they are getting time on the ball around the Molde box.

Ndo is having a stinker so far. His ball control has been non-existent.

Sligo should be disappointed to be 2 down on aggregate. Molde don't appear to be that good.

Hasn't been much happening for Sligo this half.

23/07/2013, 6:23 PM
According to Uefa, Sligo have had more shots and corners than Molde. Thinking 9 shots off target may tell a story...

Charlie Darwin
23/07/2013, 6:25 PM
Sligo are going to need to push on for this at some stage. Putting no pressure on the Molde defence when they have the ball.

Sligo are so unambitious under Baraclough. His objective appears to have been to keep the score down rather than trying to win the tie.

So that's four games in Europe under Baraclough that Sligo has failed to score in? this display is incredibly disturbing for whatever reason.

Yeah. It looked almost as if they were worried about keeping the score at 0-1. Little or no urgency for a team that needed 2 goals to go through.

This Molde side are bang average. They're physically better and technically not bad but they're actually fairly clueless.

Sligo need to be asking questions about Baraclough if they finish this season without a title challenge. He took them on to the next level from where Cook could, but he looks to be dismantling all of that hard work this season, and for what?

They looked untouchable during the first 11 games. Since Elding has imploded, they have been shown to be tactically poor. Sligo fans are starting to ask questions.

That was very disappointing from Sligo. Expected a bit more urgency than that.

Don't suppose anyone has a working stream of the Celtic-Cliftonville game? Just getting streams of Mastermind...

I only saw them on TV and when they came to Tallaght during the first round, but even then they looked tactically pretty poor. Once Elding was found out and started kicking everything that moved, they've looked a shadow of that team. I suspect teams during the first round of games were just so shocked to be facing such un-Sligo football that they were unprepared for the set-piece dominance. By the second round, everybody was prepared for it.

We will win nothing this year, we are a shadow of last years team, unless of course Djilali continues to improve and Cretaro brings some spark on his return, but its hard to see.

Game over. That stiker (Chuku) has been bullying Sligo's entire back line all night.

It was hard for Peers to play centre back and try and push forward as a midfielder, to build up possession, whilst covering Chuku. I thought Peers did well throughout.

McMillan, in particular, was exposed against a pacy and mobile striker.

Gaynor is not and never was a defender - didn't put in one tackle. His poor performance in Europe last year cost us the away tie, how he is back as left back is beyond me. We really missed Dav.

It was upfront where we were really impotent - 60 mins for Elding and McMillan again out of position!

Djailli played well - but what was the point of busting down the right when there was no body in the box. Keane gave it his all but his poor clearance resulted in 2nd Molde goal. Joey had a mare and Cawley and Lynch, Conneelly were hardly at the races.

There is little point dissecting what Baraclough will do from here, heavens only knows!

I just hope that we can sustain a league tilt, so roll on Shams. But sadly, the brand of football we play at the moment is dull and negative.

We are neither fish nor fowl, footballing-wise. How I now really miss the Cookie days - even if we never won title under him - it was a pleasure to go to the Showgies. We have regressed over the last two years and I don't think Bara is the man to bring this group on - so it all remains to be seen.

Local radio presenters applauded players for acknowledging the €500 flight-package tourists who supported them - the very least they could do seeing as they're travelling back on the same plane!

Best of luck to Derry - their game v Trab was such a much more exciting match than both our drab and dour Europe encounters.

You obviously didn't see much of us in that period...yes we won 8 on the bounce but the football was as rank as it is now,we were grinding out wins.Losing faith in Baraclough more by the week.

The fat lady has sung for the LOI in Europe this year. On paper, Drogheda achieved the most impressive result and who knows what might have happened had they chosen (in a fit a wisdom) to play at Oriel :). Pats have no excuse, letting it slip at home against a team from a no great shakes league. Sligo just don't get it how to play against teams in European competition, like trying to show your grandmother how to use a computer.

The league of Iceland, currently topping the country coefficients table, at least until Wednesday night's games, I wonder why that piece of information just spurted out:D

The point you seem to be ignoring is that the League of Iceland is currently exceeding expectations while the League of Ireland is performing below expectations. Add to the fact previous good performances from Pats et al has led to them entering at a higher level than previously means they were always likely to gain fewer ranking points than before :)

edit: I'm not playing down the achievement of the Icelandic teams. I'm delighted to see them do so well.

Writing was on the wall when Elding started really. David McMillan should have started up front as at least he'd occupy their 2 centre halves better. Having said that we had enough chances in the first half to make a game if it. Real pity we hadn't played like that in the first leg as that's really where the game was lost. Molde nothing special whatsoever. Thought we should have switched to 2 up front and at least had a go. Molde played 2 up top for the second half as it was

Molde is probably the most spectacular place I've ever been too (better then Tallaght even). And we all have great colours having been out in the only section of the stadium that had he sun glaring in on you for he whole game. Although €8 pints and €25 burgers mean it wouldn't be the sort if place you'd be going to the whole time.

Anyone know if Cliftonville brought many over to Celtic?

Disappointing for Sligo not to score over two legs.
