The Ennis town squad taken from the Clare league website, some of the best talent we have in the county, really should be challenging for leagues not relegation.

They'll still be too strong for Olympic or Bridge Celtic.

No idea but I heard they were missing a lot the other night against Newmarket. Wonder will they return for the playoff.

I had questioned why people had a problem with Corofin, now I know.

They'll need a lot of luck in the Premier.

Corofin totally outclassed in final and will find going very tough in premier. But some comments re the club in recent weeks been ott IMO especially and open to correction here but did a Newmarket b player not get banned for two years recently for trying to attack a referee??

Lads quick one for ye, anyone out there know what the highest clare premier league points total was for an 18 game season? I know newmarket had 44 last year with 16 games, is this years 47 the highest? dont think it will be but its the highest in my time playing

Newmarket 47 2011/2012.
Before that no idea, but Davy you are hardly going to be including the 3 points that ye got for the 60 minute runabout last night. :)

Don't think they will even get a point in the premier but unfortunately they deserve to be there. A big gap between premier and first at the moment. Bridge united will struggle too as very young but I'd expect them to stay up next year and build on that .
I don't think the bridge will struggle next year. I think they proved during the season that they can mix it with the best in the Clare league

It's hard to know and hard to judge on a few cup games every 1st division team will try that bit harder in a cup game v premier opposition..as I said I think they will stay up and build on that. I believe they are losing 3/4 lads back to Shannon hibs so that will put a dent in squad.but I wish them the best

avenue ageing and Newmarket's battle with hurlers, could be time for a change at the top! a lot of people taught it could be ennis town's chance and they will be lucky to be even in the division next year! perfect time for bridge utd to come back premier.

How many hurlers do Newmarket have these days. I can only think of 3 daithi o connell ,Eoin Hayes and Eoin o brien. And they all seemed to be fairly committed

Alan Brigdale, Colin and Neil Ryan, and Stephen Kelly is home too as far as I know.

It'll be between the big two again next season unless the clubs get in some decent recruits over the summer.

Avenue ageing?? arent we all ageing now to be fair:), Avenue had 4 players over 30 playing this year, most are in early 20s and the rest between17/19 yrs old so i dont agree with. Also newmarket coped well with the hurlers and dont think that ll effect them 2 much next year either. Ennis town 4-2 tonight in the playoff but there was lots of talk that shane daniels and stephen hickey are on the way to newmarket with Keith Mcinerney getting involved in the management side......may all be rumours so dont bite my head off if theres no truth to it

Colin Ryan hasn't played with them since probably last October.neil Ryan and brigdale have been at every game. And as for Stephen Kelly sure he is meant to be going away again and wasn't signed last year so irrelevant

I heard the same thing mastermind and I think it will ruin Newmarket if Keith takes over . Good coach but not a manager

It'll be the same again next year with Avenue and Newmarket challenging. If those lads leave Ennis Town then Newmarket will have a great chance to regain the league but there is always some great rumours floating about this time of year. Ennis Town given their players should have been nowhere near the bottom of the table and its a pity they didnt kick on this year as expected and close the gap at the top. If Keith does take over Newmarket he'll do a good job and its a job which is made a lot easier given the quantity and quality of players they have in the village.

takes a strong man to manage nof n cant see mcinerney being the man for the job,
daniels wont get on there team and hickey wont start the season till after christmas anyway. unless he goes in to limerick
should be interesting season,, enjoy the summer first though!!

Agreed that Daniels wouldn't get in ahead of o brien and docca, hickey if he commits would be a huge asset though.

@second you said you could only think of 3 hurlers, I name a few more and you dismiss me straight away, i don't come on here for arguments or conflict but at times it seems you do, if my comments annoy you or rub you up the wrong way, just ignore them please..

he would be a massive addition to any squad, as will kelly if he sticks around, they would be very hard to beat,,
avenue scored 60 plus goals this season but they need a couple of players , they had smallest squad this season, sure there will be plenty of names and transfer rumours so until the pen is put to paper itll be only talk

No conflict or arguments just discussions you said Newmarket have a battle with there hurlers .. You've no evidence to back that up .. Have you as they all seemed fairly committed to me watching them last year.

The only persons commitment I questioned was stepen hickeys and he's not even signed with Newmarket
We were just speculating

Lets just leave it there shall we.we have a few months off before forms are signed and alot of hurling to be played in between :-)

Some interesting reading the last few days.

Keith McInerney would be a great addition to any club.
Shane Daniels would be a great addition to any club, his performances in the OT team were excellent and proved his status as one of the best CH in the county.
Stephen Hickey would be a great addition to any club, goes without saying.
Even Mastermind would be a great addition to any club, but he would have to bring Mouldedstuds with him, it would be hard to split them :)

As for the hurler's annual debate, it's funny how the only one's that think there is a problem is people outside the club. So it hold's no stock. As for whoever takes on the job with Newmarket, they will have the pleasure of working with the best players in the county on the best surface in the county. It will be an interesting summer and I am guessing this thread will get more traffic than it did during the last season. Rumours in abundance.

Even mastermind would be a good addition :) thanks for those very kind words. Do enlighten me who mouldedstuds is, i m interested to find out who it is.

Best players in the county this season were avenue players whether you like it or not. League winners are always considered the best players. But your right, newmarket have very good players and a great pitch, even if it somehow seems to be unplayable when avenue come to play them. Not including the 60 min runaround 2 weeks ago

i have no ties with avenue so its easy to split me and mastermind up,
avenue n newmarket have the best squads around, so whoever took nwmkt over it wouldnt take a lot,if they were going well
but i think though its a job for a local, as an outsider mightnt get full support if it goes wrong early. it will be interesting next season if nof can get rocks best players, as they did with rineannas whrn they won the double

Plenty of outsiders have managed Newmarket down through the years and got fully supported . Newmarket won the league in 2010 without any Rineanna players and this year they won the cup without any Rineanna players as you put it yourself . I think if players sign for a club they should be referred to as players from the club they are representing . Its not like Avenue have never signed a player from other clubs .
