Any news on Clare Oscar traynor squad anyone know any players on it.. They are playing next week and all is quiet

I'd fear the worst for them, poor enough squad from what I've heard.. Darren Murphy hasn't been picked, that says it all really..

Ya agree young Murphy should be on it.. Who's on it that you think is weak.. The limk league name their squad I think Clare should do same

I'd rather not name players i think are weak, it's a bit unfair on the lads.. Just think a few lads might be out of their depth..no squad named is a joke, but I'd imagine there delaying this because they were hoping to have newmarkets gaa contingent on board.

Sure thats crazy, the hurlers haven't kicked a ball yet this season, then throw them into the squad just cause the hurling is over. Same with their club, Players not involved with the hurling wouldn't be too happy if they walk into the first 11.

cant see why the manager / league cannot release names of squad whats the big secret as for hurlers agree it seems unfair to put them into squad without playing a game always thought squad would be picked on players in form / playing regular games and manager would have went to a few games to check out players or is it a case of just picking last years squad again and add 1-2 new faces.

I'm not defending the hurlers or anything I'm only guessing I could be way off the mark.
Ruairi Norrby, Pakie Darcy (Lifford) Colin Smyth David Russell Matty Nugent (Avenue) Ronan McCormack David o Grady Darren Cullinan (Newmarket) Daryl Eade David Reidy (Ennis Town) Darragh Fitz John Mulready (Bridge Utd)
These are just names I've heard who are training at the moment..

Well in my opinion norrby o Grady and McCormack not good enough and Darcy and Russell were bad v limerick last year ..2 good club players but not OT standard anymore..

Check your facts before posting. Darren Murphy is unavailable due to work commitments.

Anyone know why avenue only have 2 outfield players in Oscar traynor squad surely 2 nugents and Davy McCarthy are good enough ..

Obviously Newmarket were going to dominate the squad but I think having Colin Ryan n Eoin Hayes is a joke. They havent kicked a ball this season and are ahead of davy mccarthy

Dirtfree you are far too interested in the Oscar traynor squad, give it a rest will ya. More attempts by you to stir. MAYBE THOSE PLAYERS YOU MENTION COULDN'T COMMIT!!! best of luck to all those involved Wednesday night

Football friend really doubt Hayes and Ryan are part of the squad for Wednesday night considering they are playing county final next weekend. Could be wrong but they weren't in squad I was told

Play on this is a forum to discuss football in our county if you don't like my comments don't read them or logout permanently .. I simply asked a question as avenue were the 2nd best team in Clare last year but only have 2 in squad..if you look at Clare league website the squad is up there.. Davy McCarthy was the 2nd top scorer in Clare last year. I don't think Davy would refuse to play for his county but maybe I'm wrong maybe he couldn't commit.. But come on are you telling me Dave o Grady is better than matt nugent ..it's a pity Russ is away as he's the only bit of steel we have in squad.. Great to see nabs back though

Dirtfree there you go again jump head first without actually knowing what your talking about. Davy McCarthy I am reliably told had other commitments and declined to join up with the squad. Didn't take that long at all to research. Personally I would pick o' Grady ahead of Mattie but sure that's football full of opinions. His the fullback of the champions and unbeaten team from last season.

Agh did you not read my post " maybe he can't commit " I think o Grady is a good player but wouldn't be my choice at right back.. But if he starts I wish him the best..

Wrong again. This season alone Colin Ryan and Eoin Hayes played Hugh Kelly tournament incl final against Avenue, played league cup games, played 1st league game against Rhine Rovers. Only games they have missed for Newmarket this season is Pike Rovers in munster senior and today against Kilmaley. So yes they have kicked a ball. Check facts before guessing.
Davy McCarthy like Darren Murphy and a number of other good players(including other players from Avenue who were asked) are unable to commit due to a number of reasons. Its unfortunate that these players cant commit but such is life.

This forum is to discuss football in our county when you actually know what you are talking about . Are you seriously telling me that the Clare team are still depending on Russ . The man is 37 and had a great career he has experience and is a good man to have on the squad but that is it , we should be looking to the future and I think that is exactly what the current manager is trying to do if people like yourself could give him a chance . You also say that Russ is the only man with a bit of steel in the squad I would like you to stand infront of Mark Donellnan and repeat them words . I am sure there are a lot more people on that squad who wouldn't be too happy to hear they had no steel .

Good luck to Clare on Wednesday, I am sure that they will be well prepared and motivated for the challenge.

Newmarket didn't play Pike in the Munster Senior Cup,Junior clubs are not allowed enter that comp any more, its a new comp which is the Munster Champions Cup,some LOI clubs didn't like getting beat by junior teams,ie Cork City,😄😄😄

Because its doesn't exactly look good for Irish football when a semi pro team is getting beat by an amateur team. They should be of a much higher standard and better fitness. The likes of Pike, Carew, Carrick, St Micheals and Sheriff would and should be able give them a game but beat them i don't think so. That's just my opinion. Think it's down to lads who are good enough to play LOI but don't want to play, playing for teams likes Pike, Boro and Carew and others. What was the scores in these games?

Your spot on fifty, and hibs they beat Cork 2 1.in a one off game junior clubs are well capable of beating loi opposition if loi teams don't take them seriously, and that's why they got rid of them,4 semi finalists of FAI junior cup go into the FAI senior and a lot of them down the years have knocked out loi opposition,so they are well capable of it.

Docca imo would get on any of the top teams, top player, surprised he hasn't been asked to go into one of them. Probably the best center half in Clare for the last few years, A real old school no noncence player, bit of a temper tho, but ask any forward who plays against him and i'm sure they'll tell you he's hard to be up against.

Lads will you take off you Newmarket blinkers ya docca is good but to put him in the same league as Mullins chucka Colbert moloney . your having a laugh if he was so good how come he hasn't been playing in town yet. You lads obviously don't watch any premier games in limerick do you ?? As for me not knowing much about football ..what a Stupid comment .. Lets just hope Clare can get something out of the match unlike last years farcical attempt.. Good to see young lads like mulready Fitzgerald and Reidy getting a chance

I'd say lads with a good chance would be Darren cullinan,Ritchie Fitz,David Reidy and nabbs (if back to 100%) .. If nabbs is back to full fitness he will be a massive threat to limerick on Wednesday night,.

Nabbs maybe a few years ago, he's well past it now.. Nowhere near fit, duck is a very good left full, but if he couldn't cut it with the boro how could he expect to make the OT squad, John Healy and John mulready would make it maybe, but only as cover for Neville
Edit
I reckon Eoin o brien would have a good shot at it too

Firstly Why would you presume all good Clare players want to play in Limerick!!!! I'm pretty sure the limerick clubs who ring him every June & July rate him much higher than you obviously do.

What clubs ring him?there have been a lot of very good players who have come in from Clare league and a lot of bad ones too,who were touted as good players,Pike got Nabs at his peak, and seamie lawlor, daryll eade, dave o Grady, they won everything while in there, there was a few more as well.

Best of luck tonight to the Clare lads. Any idea of team? I'd go.
Lifford keeper, duck dokka, rich Fitz , o Grady
crokka, Glynno, Kelly , reidy.
Brigdale, daithi.
To be honest the avenue lads Russell Mattie n Mcarthy are a loss as are Eoin o brien n Hayes
2-1 limerick i think. Hope I'm wrong
