Quick trivia question - before Pilkington's two penalties today, who was the last Irish player to score two penalties in the same game?
Hint - it's not Robbie Keane.
Ian Harte ?

No, none of those. This was within the last year

Yes, international player.
Jon Walters??
Hmm, you say international player which rules out Eoin Doyle.
Tough one.

No, lot of people guessing Walters. Not him though.
He hasn't scored for Ireland either. Can't give any more hints after that

So far, we know it's an Irish international who has scored 2 penalties in one game (excluding penalty shoot outs I assume), in the last year (Feb 2015-Feb 2016).
The player has also never scored for Ireland.
And it is not:
Wes Hoolahan
Adam Rooney
Ian Harte
Jon Walters
Eoin Doyle
Paddy Madden
I give up.

Cillian Sheridan ?
Yep, Cavan's finest!
Two penalties against brondby in August. Robbie Keane had two in a game in July.

Nothing else comes to mind. The two penalties today were topical. If I do think of anything, I'll let you know

Please let it be changing the Martin O'Neill and Roy Keane thread back to "Martin O Neil"

Yes! I knew I could rely on you. I don't think we need to wait for CTP to weigh in - tets, you know what you need to do.

How about this instead, if its within your powers of moderation, I would like Newcastle West AFC to have a presence in the other / former clubs section on here marking their time in LOI football. Might even source & add a few bits to it to it over time documenting what was achieved by those who put LOI standard soccer in that part of the world, albeit briefly, as there isn't much at all online sadly and I loved going to Ballygowan Park, it's where my love of the game began in the mid 80's.
Any chance ?

Any chance ?I can't do that, I only have mod powers in the Republic of Ireland section, but open a thread for it in the Support folder and I'll support it

Cardiff manager raving about him, saying he could play the rest of his career out as a striker. I would personally bring him ahead of McGoldrick.
Haven't been that impressed with him in his competitive cameos but he has proven against U.S.A. and Italy that he has something about him.

19 - #CardiffCity (https://twitter.com/hashtag/CardiffCity?src=hash) forced into an early change: Sammy Ameobi replaces Anthony Pilkington, who had taken an earlier knock. (0-0)

Yes, had a bad fall in the game while defending a corner and then tried to run it off for about 10 minutes but had to be taken off in the end. He looked really disappointed as if he was fearing it was something sinister. Haven't seen any subsequent reports on how bad it is.

Two goals for Pilkington today, making it five in five games - bit of a streak building there...MON or Keano should probably take in a Cardiff game over the next while if this keeps up

Definitely! the last game I remember him playing for us was against USA where he scored our first goal with a deft touch.

Released by Fleetwood. 34 next month, but should still have another season in him you'd think.
Hadn't realised he'd been in India before that!
