Pilkington picked up a hamstring injury yesterday: http://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/sport/chris_hughton_reveals_injury_concerns_over_norwich _city_duo_robert_snodgrass_and_anthony_pilkington_ after_2_1_premier_league_newcastle_defeat_1_303396 7

Anthony Pilkington was also stretchered off with a hamstring injury and left St James’ Park on crutches to add to a growing injury list that already includes fellow midfielders Elliott Bennett (knee) and Alex Tettey (ankle) along with keeper Mark Bunn (ankle). Ricky van Wolfswinkel also missed the trip with his toe injury but Hughton admitted on Saturday evening it was too early to assess how long Pilkington and Snodgrass could be out ahead of Crystal Palace’s league visit to Carrow Road next weekend.

“Anthony has felt his hamstring. How bad we won’t obviously know for the next few days,” he said. “That was a bit of a blow for us as we lost Robert Snodgrass yesterday. After coming back playing the two games for Scotland he just felt his knee in training on Friday. We’ll have to see how he is. With Elliott out since the first game of the season after damaging his knee ligaments it is a blow for us in that wide midfield area.

Out of favour Pilkington chased by Swansea.

how can he be "out of favour" if he's out injured?

Usually happens when players are injured, they are out of favour. He should be coming back into favour in February, until he picks up another injury.

It's a sad day when an ex-Ireland international like Chris Hughton refuses to play an Irish player just because he's injured. It goes to show what young Irish players are up against these days.

I didn't write the article!

It said "out of favour Pilkington" in the article. I think they changed it for some reason.

Normally it's okay to link to any article of relevance about any of our players, but there's one requirement, the article shouldn't be an obvious total crock of ....

but I suppose any news is welcome when it comes to Pilko/Pilks/Pilky.

It has been reported on Sky Sports and local area news for several weeks so there has to be some merit in the rumours.

Sometimes there are merits to rumours which are repeated and sometimes not.

Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins told the Evening Post, Swansea would not consider signing the 25-year-old because he has been out since November with a hamstring injury.“You cannot sign injured players,” Jenkins said.

Good news that he didn't rule out signing out of favour players.

Huw Jenkins statement is pretty much par for the course and came after several weeks of rumours within the last 24 hours. Swansea could well end up going in for him when he gets back to fitness.

And CD stop breaking my balls. I didn't write the article!

Yes, but you linked the crappy article, therefore guilt by accessory or whatever it's called.

Huw's statement "that you can't sign injured players", obviously doesn't apply to Andy Carroll.

Sky Sources understand that Swansea have made a bid for Norwich City winger Anthony Pilkington. More to follow on this soon...

When he's not injured, he's back in favour, weird one huh??

Norwich boss Chris Hughton had previously said: "With Anthony it’s been a difficult period for him this season where he’s missed games and periods through injuries, but he is still a player we very much value and has served us very well. “When he’s on the pitch and in good form, up to speed with the injuries, he’s a very good player.

So Chris might want to get rid of an injury crock. Didn't Keith O'Neill play for Norwich?

Back in favour Pilko battled hard for Norwich today without too much else to his credit. But when Norwich came of the ropes in the 85th minutes, there was a wonderful piece of skill from Pilks, almost Duff like, he turned Zabaleta inside out, left him with his arse on the floor and shot just over the bar from an angle.

You do know I was just quoting the article, geysir? Maybe you should write a complaint to The Mirror if it bothers you so much.

I don't constantly make snide remarks about how Swansea bid for Anthony Pilkington after you vehemently insisted that they weren't interested in him.

It's not always all about you TOWK. I'm happy he's back in favour and occasionally turning on the style, befitting a more skilful player.

In favour Pilkington and Hoolahan both left out of the squad for this afternoon's game with Man Utd which is 4-0 to Utd at the moment. They're (Norwich) reaping what they sow.

Be interesting to see where Pilkington and Hoolahan go in the summer. Surely Hoolahan will go to another Championship team at least. His relationship with the club seems to be beyond repair.

Seems to be a curious trend with the anti-Hoolahan Norwich fans where they pick holes in team performance and results with Hoolahan in the team and then when they invariably get outplayed and spanked when Hoolahan is left out, they believe "we are on the right track". They really seem to have a double standard with certain players and the stereotype of Hoolahan being small and not working hard enough seems to precede him.

It's peculiar because Norwich's results are better with Hoolahan in the team and only an idiot would waste him on the left-wing and expect him to run a game from there.

(Pilkington) only at Cardiff because he was out of favor at Norwich! Good to see him back in favor in new surroundings.

Sad to see Doyle being an unused substitute. I got the impression from the start that Russell Slade was ambivalent about him.

Pilkington is on a great run of form at the moment. Hope Martin O Neill gives him a genuine opportunity in the upcoming frendlies, There is a real lack of options upfront and Pilkington deserves serious consideration.

Cardiff have used Pilkington as a Striker since Joe Mason moved to Wolves, Playing upfront as part of a front 2. Have been reading reports and it seems that Pilkington is growing into the role.

Heavily involved today in the goals and general play. Scored two penalties and also drew the foul for the first.

Quick trivia question - before Pilkington's two penalties today, who was the last Irish player to score two penalties in the same game?
Hint - it's not Robbie Keane.

Did Hoolahan score two penalties that time he got a hat-trick for Norwich back in the Championship?
