Bad news for Roberts.
Arsenal under-18′s preparations for the re-scheduled FA Youth Cup tie against Darlington at Underhill have taken a double blow in the striking department, with Benik Afobe poised to extend his loan spell at Huddersfield Town and Irish youth international Phil Roberts ruled out for two months with a broken foot suffered in training.

Some transfer rumours - Keane to Birmingham, Joe Murphy to Burnley.I hear that Aidy Boothroyd wants Joe Murphy at Coventry if he can sell Westwood.
Shane Long was described as "Unplayable, Premiership quality" by Reading's manager after scoring twice last week, and setting up Noel Hunt. He missed a penno in his next game!

In relation to Boothroyd, John Joe O' Toole is due back from injury soon. I predict that if O' Toole plays well for the rest of the season, Boothroyd will make a bid for his favourite player.

Irish Abroad for December 2010: http://irish-abroad.appspot.com/MonthlyStats?month=12
Alex Bruce reflected Leeds' recent good form by topping the most wins table, the defender winning 3 games in December
Fellow defender Seamus Coleman drew 3 games in December to top the most drawn games table
Derby pariah Paul Green lost the most games in the final month of the year, the midfielder started 4 losses
Coventry trio Keiren Westwood, Richard Keogh and Michael Doyle started the most games in December, with 5 starts apiece. All 3 players completed 90 minutes in each game
Striker Richie Foran started 4 games, and was substituted in each one to be the most substituted player in December
Stoke midfielder Glenn Whelan was introduced from the bench 3 times, more than any other player
Shay Given again tops the most unused substitute table, remaining on the bench 4 times
Consecutive braces from Shane Long ensured he top the goalscoring charts in December with 4 goals, with Reading winning both games
Despite only making 3 appearances in December, David Meyler was booked twice to top the bookings table, along with fellow midfielders Patrick Cregg and Mark Yeates.

Irish Abroad 5 month summary of 2010/2011: http://irish-abroad.appspot.com/MonthlyStats?month=13
Goalkeeper Paddy Kenny has won the most games of the season so far, with 13 wins
Stephen Carr tops the most draws table, with 11 games finishing level
Hibernian's Liam Miller has lost the most games of the first 5 months of the season, with 13 losses from 20 starts
Goalkeeper Darren Randolph has made the most starts so far, the Motherwell net minder has lined out 25 times for the Scottish side, and has completed 90 minutes in each game.
Defenders Ian Harte and Richard Keogh are the outfield players with the most starts, both have started 23 games so far. Keogh has gone on to complete each of these, while Harte has completed 20
Wes Hoolahan has been substituted more than than any other player so far this season, the Norwich midfielder was withdrawn from the action 12 times
Glenn Whelan, Robbie Keane and Noel Hunt have been introduced from the bench the most so far in 2010/2011. Each player has been summoned from the bench 10 times
Unsurprisingly, goalkeepers top the unused substitutes table, with the top five places going to Shay Given, Rene Gilmartin, Brian Murphy, Conrad Logan and Saul Deeney. Celtic's Richie Towell is the outfield player who has remained on the bench the most, the midfielder has been an unused sub 14 times this season
Scottish-based strikers top the goalscoring charts, with Conor Sammon, Adam Rooney and Anthony Stokes finding the back of the net 15, 13 and 9 times, respectively. What's even more impressive about Sammon's record is that it does not include a single penalty. Rooney has scored the most penalties so far, with 6, and Inverness have never lost a game when Rooney has scored, and only once did they fail to win
Alan Dunne, Patrick Cregg and David Norris have been booked the most, with each player being shown the yellow card no less than 7 times

Interview with Dean Kelly in today's Independent: http://www.independent.ie/sport/soccer/career-break-with-a-difference-sees-kelly-move-smoothly-into-professional-ranks-2480939.html
Up to their usual standards
So far, Kelly has only made two starts -- one in the League and one in the League Cup
from his profile on Irish Abroad: http://irish-abroad.appspot.com/PlayerDetails?playerID=55473
he has three starts
10 August 2010 away VS Scunthorpe in the League Cup
31 August 2010 home VS Shrewsbury in the Football League Trophy
4 September 2010 home VS Bristol Rovers in League One
At Oldham, his tally is two goals from 15 appearances, most as a substitute, but Dickov is an endless source of encouragement.
Just the one goal, 30 October 2010 home VS Plymouth on 90 minutes after coming on as a sub

Kilbane was great today in the centre of the park. He won't be short of tackling practice anyway, he was getting right stuck in and was booked. He was up against James o'Connor who I think won a cap and Clinton Morrison was playing for Wednesday so the standard in League 1 of the teams in the top half is pretty good. It wouldn't overly concern me that he's playing there really.
Anthony Pilkington is getting better every season and is still only 22, 23 in the summer. He's scored some crackers this season and is well worth keeping an eye on. The fact he's come from non-league (though he wasn't there for long) and has continued to improve each year is a good sign in my opinion.

As to whether Pilkington could step up another level or two, some views from Town fans:
pilks has bags of talent. if he can become consistent (should happen with age) then i have no doubt he can play at the top level - for a club like bolton/blackburn.
he has skill, 2 feet, bit of speed, good set piece, good cross, eye for goal..
long way to go obviously but if he works super hard he has the potential.
Agree with this, if he can consistently show he can rip a fullback to shreds then I think he could reach the bottom half of the Premier League. I just hope over confidence/selfishness doesn't kick in.
Look at Jarvis for Wolves, he made his name at Gillingham in this league and is now linked with top half PL sides. Pilks can play a narrow role AND on both wings quite well too which the likes of Jarvis can't.
Yeah, on his day, he could easily play for Ireland. Of all the goals he's scored this season, I can't recall an unspectacular one. The lad is blessed with talent.
In all honesty he should be a top championship player and has an outside chance of playing in the premiership.

Only his second goal this year after a promising season in the Championship last year. He has found starts hard to come by but that could change as Plymouth need to off load players to pay off debts and Bradley Wright-Phillips is highly sought-after

There is a highly rated 18 year old Liverpool born striker/winger at Tranmere who is definitely going to move on to bigger things in the future. His name is Dale Jennings.
