i think youll find it is in spain, all the top players from there decide to play with spain rather than line out for their own "national" side and compete in the non-fifa recognised competions around the world, like the sami from finland etc...

That's a representative XI, it doesn't affect international eligibility.
And yeah, Catalonia is in Spain, no matter what any pseud tells you.

Tsk, next you'll be trying to tell us Palestine is part of Israel and NI is part of the UK

IF this game was to happen it would almost certainly be some sort of Real Madrid XI, made up from their youth teams

The Madrid first team squad are supposed to be staying in Ireland for just over a week ... they are hardly going to fly in a bunch of youth team players to play such a game if the first team in on hand nearby are they?

If they do play it will be such a coup for Shams. Market the game properly and make a real experience of it and you'll get a rake of barstoolers wanting in, and suddenly wanting to be associated with Shamrock Rovers.
Judging on the club's recent performances off the field, I have no doubt they'll make the most of the opportunity. The rest of the league is in real danger of getting left behind!

They'll be down in their Man United tops cheering on Real probably and then go back down the pub telling how they saw Real Madrid play.

Wow. The begrudgery and negativity from some of the "LOI fans" here could never be topped by even the most ardent barstooler. Meanwhile, Rovers and Tallaght continue to show the rest how it can and should be done.

He said no such thing you clown. What he did say was if a player is out of contract and another club offers him more money Rovers won't be outbidding the other clubs offering silly money. Twigg is on a three year contract so please explain how we cannot afford to keep him?

Twiggs contract was never discussed as suggested.
Interview mentioned a 1.4 million projected turnover and we are currently 10% under the 65% rule :D

Who's organising this though? Seen on another forum thats its platinum one? And they will pay the appearance fee for Madrid and they will get the money from the gate receipts and chose how much to charge and that the only benefit for Shams will be the extra publicity, chance to attract new fans from that game and then the profit from merchandise sales at the game.
Sorry if this has been explained already.

Well platinum will have to pay a fee to Rovers too. More likely is that they'll give them a percentage of the gate.
For the Barcelona games in Scotland the past few years, Platinum have given a percentage after all costs were met.

To be fair it would be a great coup for Rovers (and a welcome few bob). presumably it could/would be co ordinated with opening of far side of the ground. Very good publicity for hoops and LOI so cant see a down side.
Platinum will probobly pocket most of the cash but the game would still be beneficial for both the club and the League.

Heard Drury is pushing Tallaght for the friendly, but RM's people aren't happy with the stadium or opposition and are trying to organise a representative game or ship a British team over.

Just heard on Newstalk, Real Madrid are coming to Kildare.
They are doing the first part of their pre-season fitness training in Carton House, Kildare.

How many ticket will go on sale for this and will season ticket holders get first option on tickets?

There's no way P1 will have this game in Tallaght with it only having a 3,300 capacity.. The new stand won't be open until September according to the other thread.
How many ticket will go on sale for this
Don't know why but I'm guessing 3300.
I'd imagine SDCC could get temp seats in for this

Its still only a rumour, and nothing has been confirmed (regarding the game)
It was always known that Madrid were having a training camp in Ireland

I have it from a farily good source that if it goes ahead they're looking at €50 a ticket, which would make sense if they put in temporary seats as I remember someone saying recently that to cover the cost of hiring the seats for a game tickets would have to be €30 a head, throw in the Madrid fee and hey presto. Ronaldo would want to be making an appearance at that price, considering they'll be missing all the internationals involved in the Confederations cup.
As it'll be organised by Platinum One there'd be no gurantee of any favours for season ticket holders either.

No reason why it couldnt be organised that Rovers couldnt agree to take say 2500 of the tickets up front and offer one to each season ticket holder and have a few hundred left over to sell to sponsors or the players etc.
Rovers sell 2500.
Ticketmaster sell 5000.
Then corp tkts sold thru the usual channels.
Easy peasy ...

Presumably if Tallaght is not economically viable( insufficiently obscenely profitable) and RDS is unavailable, Platinum might look at a Thomond Park grudge re match v Limerick?

No, it's 3,500 seater stadium with the best facilities in Ireland bar Croke Park and Thomand Park. Idiot...
Seems to be a lot of negativity surrounding Rovers and the stadium on the forum. Strange as it has been the most positive thing to happen in the league this year. I'd be absolutely delighted if Derry or Sligo for example got a new stadium. It raises the profile of the LoI in general.
Regarding the Real Madrid match, it would be completely unfeesable financially to hold it without temporary seating or the East Stand completed.
