How much were the tickets?

Guessing tickets were on average €12 per head then there would have been €39,000 roughly made from the gate alone, the programme adds and sales could have made around €10,000 if done anywhere near right (no we didn't do it anywhere near right up here) so that's an income of nearly €50,000.
If ye got the same deal as we did then the money made from the game would be pretty decent tbh.

We could've and were hoping to make double that but still yeah the money's alright.

terrible attendance. yes ok keano has been there a few times in recent years but with the club needing the cash so much now i would have thought it would have been a seel out.

Because of crisis fatigue, high prices and the fact it's only Ipswich bloody Town it's hardly surprising it wasn't a sell out.

I think it's pretty decent.

Taking those prices into account you could probably up the average ticket price to about €18 per head leaving gate receipts at around €58,000, it all adds up.

oh ya decent if the club wasnt on the brink of folding. given the fact that they nees 400 grand very soon id hardly call that decent.

Mr A
20/07/2009, 12:59 PM
Yeah, but when you've been on the brink of folding on and off for a year the sense of urgency isn't going to stay quite the same is it? Especially when even if they survive this time it seem inevitable that the next crisis won't be too far away. You can only cry wolf so many times before it loses its effect.

Be realistic. most people in Cork dont care about City.

And no one will sell 7000 tickets for a game thats too expensive against a **** championship team just because Keane's involved.

We need to raise 400k by this time next week. There were three places where the 400k was to be found:

:Friendly v Ipswich
:Sale of Colin Healy
:Sale of Denis Behan

It was reported that Behan & Healy were off to Hartlepool for just 50k. Is this true does anybody know?
Tom said in last nights Evening Echo that there was 1 6 figure sum involved .

They got a five figure flat fee, and they could sell merchandise

I hope that Caughlin is telling the truth for once. (16 figure sum would be impressive alright;))

30 k had been mentioned to me by some Hoops six weeks ago when the capacity was going to be 7,000. Presumably they negotiated a higher fee with the higher capacity?

100K and whatever merchandise they could sell seems to be the figure I've heard most for Rovers. I don't think any amount of money could have bought them the amount of positive press they've gotten from this, it was a really special day for Tallaght, a place that's had more than it's fair share of bad press, from what I've heard the whole area looked very well and came across well on Sky.

Extratime.ie say only 250 est. (http://www.extratime.ie/newsdesk/articles/2211/) at the Drogs game. I know its only Dundee Utd but you would expect a few more than that.

Not really. Although United probably brought 150. E15 (I assume; I think FAI ticket prices hold for friendlies too) is probably a bit steep for a game like that. I'd be happy if we got 250 tonight.

Whats the point in playing a friendly game like that so. If youre not making a whole lot finacially on the game, is worth risking injuries to some first team players?

1) Make whatever few pennies you can
2) Give some players a run out
3) Build up relations with other teams

Players are as likely to get injured in training as they are friendlies

There would have been a lot more at it i would reckon if it was'nt for the hype of Ronaldo and Co playing down in tallaght.

UCD 0-2 Dundee United. Enjoyable game; their keeper made three quality saves, and they scored with the last kick, annoyingly enough. Could easily have picked up a draw, but we had to be nice to them after beating them last year. We had a couple of trialists who did OK, and made nine subs in all. About 200 at it. They didn't bring on Danny Cadamarteri. :p

Section O is being cordoned off for barstoolers that night anyway and your language might scare them off.

I'd imagine if its not pay on the gate there'll be tickets outside. There won't be a shortage of seats anyway I'm sure.

I would be on my best behaviour... They were originally scheduled to play Dundalk that night but with Pats having to play Dundalk that night I assume it allowed for a chance to get them down.

They were supposed to play us on the Saturday and then play Celtic, in Oriel, on the Monday. But the Celtic game is cancelled now so we're playing Atletico on the Monday instead.

UCD 1-2 Hamilton.

We took the lead, then gave away two soft enough goals. Hamilton had seven trialists, and put their names down as "Trialist" on the team sheet and wanted them called out like that over the PA until we told them to name them. They went off whining to the ref about it and all. Very strange behaviour.

Trialist scored twice for them.

I think they were just trying to hide them from any scouts who might snap them up from under them. But slightly over the top. They don't even name them on their website report, whereas for example, us and Dundee United name our trialists.

They were late to the game too; they had to stop and ask me directions as I was going to the ground.
