Cheers lets hope we can pull off a miracle. We wont have peers and Morrison is on the bench as he was a doubt in the lead up to this.

I wouldnt mind but the origional quote was changed about half an our ago :p.
Are there many Sligwegians out there?
Good proper European draw yez got; I'd almost prefer that over Riga or Malta.
:D ROFL. Doesn't have the same ring to it as 'Glaswegian' though.

its a forum insider joke...
And its based ona Galwegian, rather thana Glaswegian...
Sligo unlucky out in Albania tonight. Vilaznia looked half dogdy in defence were there for the taking.Sligo will rue missed chances tonight. Stupid sending off by O'Grady. If you do that there is only going to be one outcome.

Can we start a separate co-efficient thread now? :p
I make that 0.125 for the year. Reckon we're goin to need four wins just to stay where we are. Might be a big ask.

Yeah 0.125 is right (0.5 / 4). We lose 1.333 this year from the 2004/5 season so we'll need more than 4 wins to match that.
It's tough having 4 teams getting points this year rather than 3 as we were bound to have a weaker side in there..

Anyone know what time the Derry game kicks off at on Thurs?
UEFA (http://www.uefa.com/competitions/uefacup/fixturesresults/round=2000034/match=2000558/index.html) have it down for 6.45 CET, so 5.45 Irish time
Latvia is 2 hours ahead of Ireland. I think our game there last year kicked off at a similar time

It is indeed Dodge.
I think pre-match drinks will be in the Barcelona bar outside the ground :)
Dodge, what is the story with this Valetta team Pats are playing,i noticed Pats are 4/9 favs for the game but what did your guys make of them when they had them watched?? I would imagine this to be a tough enough game.

Valletta were a higher price to beat the Icelandic team. They've been in Dublin since Monday and their manager watched us play Galway on Friday so they're taking it seriously.
They have a Cameroon guy who scored 15 times in 22 games last year (and has scored in both gams v Keflavik in first round)
I honestly expect them to beat us.

He is, but they have a Dutch manager and he's brought in another Dutch midfielder. That bloke played in the top league fore the last ten years (he's 32 now)

I have a bad feeling about the next couple of days. I'd love to think Derry and Bohs could get score draws and Pats a clean sheet to take away, but there is every chance this could be a whitewash year. If offered it now I'd happily take all 3 teams beaten comfortably in the next round if it means all 3 got through this round. Beatings all round, coupled with the financial situations at Bohs, Derry, Cork etc could make this one of the worst weeks for LOI in years.

Any of the LOI clubs games streaming (or on tv?)
Bohs game is on Austrian TV (and I'assume its being streamed)

Dutch international. Played in top leagues in Spain and Egland until he was in his 30s
Always a more than decent player, just never Johan Cruyff...

jeez no easy ties there for either team. i think pats can still go through, derry at home i would hope would be able to see of skonto. i see rapid vienna thrashed vllaznia 5-0....
Last year, Bohs were knocked out of intertot by a latvian side, who were then knocked out by Elfsborg
Who Pats beat...

For Derry, Flora would be a good draw provided Bronby don't win in Estonia. Tromso also wouldn't be a bad draw though not sure what the 1st leg score was against Dinamo Minsk.
Pats, no easy ties there but from a money making perspective you'd hope they get Hamburg as German TV companies can pay good money.
Anyway 2nd legs to go yet before we know for sure but always nice to speculate:)

I'd take Flora or Tromso for defs. Anyone else, and I doubt we'd have a realistic chance.

None of the seeded teams there look beatable tbh. I haven't checked how their first legs went but Pats' or Derry's best chance would be to be drawn against the seeded team with the best chance of going out in this round. Hamburg and Brondby would probably be the most lucrative.

Jayz, if Flora can beat Brondby away, I don't think they'd be a "good" draw for Derry! (Though I can see where you're coming from).
Tromso also wouldn't be a bad draw though not sure what the 1st leg score was against Dinamo Minsk
Tromso drew 0-0 against Minsk.
Don't know what fans of teams who've been this far reckon, but I'd almost prefer a money and fun game against, say, Rosenborg or Hamburg than a game against Flora, who could easily win and you'd be left with nothing.
We know from last year that German companies don't pay huge amounts when there are plenty of games to choose from. Hamburg would of course be the best draw overall
Russia would be a financial disaster for us (and personally I don't think I could make the game)
I'd expect some of those to beat us heavily. I should stress that I don't think we'll beat the Maltese either...

Hamburg would still be by far the more preferable financially, obviously. Qarabağ drew 0-0 with Rosenborg, so the possibility of a charming trip to the front-line of the Nagorno-Karabakh war, replete with battle-scarring and ghost cities, remains open.

On a personal level I would prefer a smaller team. You at least retain a chance of beating them. Memories are great, but at the same time you don't want to just keep getting to the same round and losing.
Given none of the teams in our pot are "big" I'd like to get someone we have a chance of beating.

Definitely. Even if it is only a very remote chance that we'd win, I'd take that over a PSG type opponent any day.

Last year for the first round we wanted someone beatable, and somewhere that was relatively decent to visit. We got the perfect draw with Olimps and Riga
In the second round we wanted to avoid the Danish and Norwegian as I fancied us against the rest. We got a decent trip too when Elfsborg was drawn
For the next round it was highly unlikely we'd progress so I think most pats fans wanted AC Milan. Hertha wasn't a bad draw at all. Money and the experience being the main factors
This year we're pretty poor, and I don't think we'll beat any of them, so i'll plump for Hamburg for financial reasons (personal and club wise). I won't be going to Russia or Azerbaijan

Glad that all the Irish teams (Irish League excluded!) have given a good account of themselves so far. Bohs and Derry should make their away goal count. I look forward to the home leg versus Skonto Riga!
