would be fair to say charlestown will be there abouts for promotion at the end of the season. cross are a tough team to beat so that result stands out more than the others.:ball:

Ill have to change my mind about Ballina Town B getting promoted. dint see them pulling out of the league as i thought they had a decent team. Might be good for there Super league team this year. might be worth a few pounds.
Ill go for Boro B and Glenisland to go up, with Cross a close third. Teams around the county benefited this weekend with no GAA on so its hard to judge results this weekend

Thats one of the relegation fill by Ballina Town B although its a shame to see them pulling out of the league - hopefully they have a team in next year but now they have to play in Division 3 next year .......

Cross 0 Claremorris 2, bad match on a terrible pitch, Claremorris scored with 2 late set-pieces. Cross very disjointed had enough chances to win it but missed them. Both teams were much better last year I thought.

Normally our pitch is very good. Problem in getting the grass to grow. There is very little growth. Consider that there was sleet and snow on Wednesday last. The pitch was very playable just that there were a lot of funny bounces. C'morris brought on 3 very good subs - young lads. However as against C'town the chances were there for us to be out the gate with the points and we did not take them.

One Ballina supporter told the ref he would "thump his head off in the car park after the game"
This along with several other savage comments. Picture this in the super league??? It wouldnt happen? Why does the league allow it to happen here

this is not right. did the ref send in this information in match report? you cannot have this type of crap going on in a game of any level.

Yes. I was on the side line and heard Conlon say he would report them. He was directing supporters to stay outside the fencing and was met with a barage of abuse. Reports must not work as im sure theres one sent in every other game down there !

walshek

dead right. it is hard enought for a ref to look after a game never mind getting abuse as well. like every club in mayo has a fence / rope around the pitch and the rules state that all supporter stay outside this. simple as that.

That referee is quite new to the league and mighnt have the authority for a setting like Ballina Utd home games.

im not saying hes a bad referee, just that he is not as imposing as some of the more experienced referees

he isn't that new to the league. i can remember him reffing for a good while (maybe not as long as some of the rest). don't think he is a great ref though and have to agree that he wouldn't have the presence of other refs in the league. that is still no exscuse for ballina to behave the way they did though and should be punished for that carry on!
where was the game played?? they play on one of the back pitches in beleek don't they?? no roping around them pitches

That mob are a disgrace. Have intimidated refs and away teams for years and nothing ever done about it. Once saw their fans take over both dugouts and make the visiting team stand near the endline. Anyone going to do something??? Dont hold your breath:ball:

I think all clubs and Refs have a part to play. Clubs don't have to accept that kind of "hospitality" and the league/refs have to start enforcing rules re the crowding of the dug outs and surrounding areas by subs and supporters. The problem is refs will often restrict a manager to the technical area when it suits eg: if they question a decision, yet at times will allow supporters to stand around dug outs and side lines. I was at a Mayo league match last week where club mentors/managers(although 100% well mannered) watched the match from either ,on the touchline, or 2-3 yards inside the pitch, with no reprimand from the ref(and that particular ref was no wall-flower!) Need a bit of uniformity about who is allowed inside the perimeter of the pitch and then clubs who breach or refuse to comply with those rules can be punished. Obviously this will not prevent thuggish threats from outside the pitch, they should be dealt with by the Home club or the league if reported and found to be true.

I understand one of the previous views that there is an element of abuse or outbursts at all mayo league games but the level received at Ballina United is a disgrace. It would be a real shame if it was ignored by the Mayo league as I would not blame referees or other teams in the league if they refused to travel to games down there. The majority of the abuse comes from the sideline... The Mayo league should state new rules stating who is allowed in the technical area and get every club Chairman to sign off on it, if they have not already done this???. If clubs continuously refuse to comply then disciplinary action should be taken???

fully agree but it's still up to the refs to police it. they are the only club in the mayo league that do this. they played a cup game in claremorris last year and had about 50 people around the dugout and along the sideline(approx:5 yards on the pitch) the ref was to intimidated to move them. if this happens regularly than the league should take a stand and refuse them entry to the league in future years or at least dening them home advanage for future league and cup games

played them a few years ago in the divisional cup when we rejoined the league back in 2002 and i remember a 'fan' threatening one of our supporters with a golf club when we were winning!as far as i know that type of behaviour is commonplace there and won't change unless the mayo league do something about it.the club itself won't

most refs fear for their safety on that back pitch, nevermind players and supporters.

The ref on the day actually held his own quite well and didnt seem intimidated by them even with all they said to him. Ive heard other refs being in fear down there and I certainly wouldnt blame them.
I understand about sending in a report but there was nothing directed at our club but im sure Mr Conlon did send in his.
It seems already that lots of people have witnesses this "Mob" as hardcore so rightly puts it. Credit to posters for coming out and saying so too !

Doubt the Mayo league will do too much even with a report. Only answer is for every visiting team to video the game and the surrounds:ball:
