Glenisland 1-0 Moy Villa
Snugboro 1-1 Cross
Great game between Snugboro and Cross, my first visit to Snugboro and may I compliment them on an amazing set-up (pitch and dressing rooms), a credit to the club. I've played all over the country but the quality of pitches in Mayo especially the likes of Ballyglass, Manulla, Snugboro etc is unrivalled. Cross have struggled with numbers since the start of the season due to injuries, retirements, lack of commitment etc. We now have a really strong panel and despite being down 3 players today we acquited ourselves well.

Agreed it was a good fair game. However with no disrespect we are devistated with the point as we see it as 3 dropped. A lack of concentration on our behalf. Its not good enough if we are to be contenders and we are bitterly disapointed.
All credit to cross though they punished us in the final minutes and both of us put up a good fight each time the clubs meet, plus there seems to be comradery between both sets of players which you dont often see!

After the bad start to the season, teams seem to be disappointed to drop points against Cross, but we only lost the play off last year on peno's and the team hasn't changed much since then, so I don't see how teams expect Cross to be a push over. I think you'll agree YellowMonkey that we matched ye stride for stride yesterday.
Watched the game from the sideline yesterday and have to say that it was a great game of football, played the way football should be played. I've played with Cross for the past 3 years and the improvement that has been made on the field is unreal. I think it's a reflection of the good football that was played, that both teams are disappointed not to have got 3 points but a draw was a fair result. Our keeper pulled of a good save with a couple of minutes left but Leo pulled off a point-blank save in the first half. If Steve Clarke and Declan Lavelle had played the full game, it might have been a different result but having said that Cross were missing 3 first teamers. I thought the ref added to the good football, he let alot of stuff go that other pedantic ref's would have pulled for and that added to the pace of the game. There wasn't a bad challenge in the game and personally I feel that the Division this year is far better than the past 3/4 years. There's a bit of bunching at the top and a few results wither way and you could have 6 teams in the mix.
Well done Snugboro on an excellent pitch and facilities

Sorry, I dont mean that we were disapointed to lose to Cross, they did match us blade for blade, I was just saying we were dismayed to have conceded the way we did due to a lapse in concentration! :)

No offence taken YM. Ye have the meanest defence in the league with only 5 goals conceded so I'm sure it'll be anlysed at trainingthis week. Still ye are right up there, and depending what happens to C'Town Athletic, if anything, ye will be in the shake up. The big problem for 2nd teams is holding onto their best players but ye seem to be holding a good bunch of lads together.:ball:

Dont be so sure that Claremorris B got awarded points off Moy Villa.... I have it from close sources that they are not the beneficiaries from suspended player. Wait till the league confirm it before jumping to conclusions

Murphsjewels- I think its fairly clear from posts (quoted from mayo league) that it is claremorris receivingthe 3pts, so dont know whats your argument my post
you also seemed to be the only one not aware of the charlestown situation when it emerged initally (not stating they actually did anything, just the situation), although you are involved with them, yet you still came on here giving out that everyone is trying to put you down because ye are doing well.
Anymore, you might look into topics before posting ill-informed comments!

Have to agree with Couchpotato on this one...how many season s has there been debate (on this thread) on players fielding illegal players especially in the lower divisions? The general consensus seems to be that all of us want the game to be played in good spirit and the rules abided by... Finally good to see action takin...

Im not disputin the Muldoon suspension. What im saying is that from my understanding (from a very good Source) is that Claremorris b are not the team going to benifet. That was the information given to me yesterday. As for Charlestown's "Situauion" as its been put.... The Mayo league have not even contacted the club since we asked for our games to be put on hold and that is as much as i can tell you. Believe me we want this whole saga resolved and let us continue on with our season. This interuption is unwanted and only serves to put the whole league in a mess, what with rumours and mud slinging flying everywhere. So for now i would advise all on this thread to keep their opinions to themselves unless they have facts on all clubs within the division including Moy Villa and their "Situation". Has the mayo league contacted anyone of you to inform you that Claremorris b have been awarded the 3 points?????? I dont think so. in FACT i know so

Why are you so sure its the league that is effected by Muldoon. If you took your time and used whatever tiny brain cells you had you can see that the diciplinary meeting recorded Match awarded to opponents not to Claremorris B or points awarded. Try not jumping to conclusions and wait until you are informed of any decisions by the Mayo League. no need to get insulting either im just the messenger.

If it was Claremorris He played against then they will get the points. Can anyone confirm if it was claremorris?? If it was then we can put this to bed!! It goes without saying that the opponents will get points. So was it Claremorris or not?

The League tables on Snugboro website have given Claremorris B the points...so that info must have come from an informed source...or is that too simple?

At the risk of repeating myself. I was discussing the report published by the ML with a very informed source and the topic of Moy villa came up. I mentioned about the points deduction and subsequent boost to Claremorris B only to be asked where I got that information from and that it was incorrect. I was not told where the infracture took place or whom against except that I should not jump to conclusions and we would be told in due course. Now unless anyone has been told otherwise then my suggestion is that no-one should publish league tables without the facts. Surley Claremorris should have been informed if they were given the points?? Dont you think???? All Walshek is interestend in is slinging insults insted of finding out facts about his own team:confused: it would only take a phone call to find out. If I have been given misleading information I apologise in advance, but my source is well informed and until I hear more I have no reason to dobut what I was told

Why did Charelstown ask for their games to be postponed untill the matter in Question was cleared up and now all of a sudden you are playing this weekend again? Has somthing been cleared up? You are very economical with facts on this forum i must say. In fact all you have done is deny things but never offered any explination or update on anything here to afford other clubs some details as to what is going on. Im beginning to wonder if you even have much to do with Charlestown at all !!!

We were due to play a Cup game on a Thursday evening and between injuries from a Sunday game and lads working away in Dublin, we notified the club involved, the referee and the league that we were unable to fulfill the fixture in advance. We could have made excuses, we could have been dishonest but we were upfront with everyone concerned and we were fined €300!! I find it hard to understand how one club that decide to call off a game under false pretences get fined €100 and we get slapped with a fine of €300. The punishment hardly fits the crime, or at least if it does, surely it should apply to all teams equally. For not filling out the scorecard with capital letters, writing initials instead of full name or putting a "C" beside your Captains name carries a fine of €40, not attending a meeting at Headquarters carries a fine of €100 also.
God knows it's hard enough to raise money in the present climate.:mad::mad:

I would not let this lye Phoenix. Appeal to the league if this is true. If the fines are as you say they are then that is shocking and unbelieveable. Your club has every grounds to appeal and id urge you to do so? If this was a parking fine would you personaly accept it?? ..... Well then your club shouldnt either. The rules do state that an unfufilled fixture is €300 which you may not be able to dispute but your argument should be how Ballinrobe where only fined €100 and clearly indulged in falsefication

I know Pixie. I have no problem with the €300 fine if that's what the rulebook states, but surely it should be the same rules for a small club as a bigger club.

Im certainly not one for making accusations without hard evidence but i'd have a fair idea myself but it doesn't matter now. Its over and the ML haven't a clue!!!
We get fined also for not having adequate fencing on one side of the pitch even after passing a pitch inspection at the start of the season!!
But its alright for Erris 'B'(this past weekend July 4th.)to have planks of timber right on the touchline where one of our players nearly slid into and could have injured himself. Why isn't this reported?? A complete and utter joke.

I think the Moy Villa dispute has turned out to be a mistake on the Mayo Leagues part so no action will be taken there. So we can drop that one.
The Charlestown one although not totally closed, looks to be a non runner also. The length of time taken to come to a conclusion would suggest that any 'wrongdoing' will be hard to prove. Personally, i believe, Charlestown as a club didn't do anything wrong intentionally. So in the spirit of the law rather than the letter of it, I'd forgive them.
I prefer football matches, leagues, cups, disputes to be settled on the pitch, and bureaucracy, whilst necessary shouldn't be a determining factor. So lets all forget about it, and get on with playing football. May the better team win.
