    Scorers:
    Clinton Morrison (Crystal Palace)
    Owen Garvan (Ipswich)
    Alan Lee (Ipswich)
    Liam Lawrence (Stoke)
    Leon Best (Southampton)
    Wes Hoolahan (Blackpool)
    David McGoldrick (Bournemouth)
    Barry Corr (Shrewsbury)
    Robbie Williams (Accrington Stanley)
    Jon Daly (Dundee United)

I listened to the 2nd half of the Sunderland game. Murphy and Connolly started up front, and I didn't hear much of Murphy as Stokes came on for him midway through. Connolly was caught offside a few times and he also had two passes that Stokes or John could've scored off of. Bryne came on late for Cardiff and the only thing that stuck out was one cross late in the match

    Colin Doyle

    From http://www.football365.com/story/0,1...028094,00.html

The key to him (Nigel Spink, Birmingham goalkeeping coach) is the rise in goalkeeping coaches - though perhaps he would say that, as he is one, at Birmingham City of all places for a Villa hero. The good news there is that a keeper as fine as Maik Taylor has been pushed aside by someone coming through the ranks. The bad news is that Colin Doyle is a Republic of Ireland man, but the principle still works as he started out as a trainee at the club.

Paddy Kenny was supposed to be excellent yesterday.

Richard Dunne got another 2 bonus points in the fantasy football. Defender of the season so far?

Interesting to see Leon Best back at Southampton, starting & scoring. Just shows the benefit of a good loan spell. Hopefully it'll work for Adam Rooney.

I saw highlights of Wolves vs Southampton on ITV. I thought Andy Keogh looked quality and could have had a hat trick with more luck. I didn't notice Ward or Potter much but the 0-6 result was quite misleading. The fans were singing "one Mick McCarthy" at the end.

Interesting that Colin Doyle is holding down his place at Brum.

This goes on here all the time but can anyone confirm if Best still wants to play for Ireland? I think he does but other people have a different opinion that seems to stem from him being in an England U19 squad a few years back. He's Irish in Championship manager anyway as Tetsujin mentioned but then again so was Marlon King a few seasons ago????????????

He also doesn't seem to show up in many of our current underage squads. I only ask because I rate him. He'll be decent in the future I'd say probably has more potential than Keogh, Ward, Clarke or (A) Rooney.

    stoke v leicester 4-2

just Maybury for leicester and Lawerence for them who weighed in with a goal also. Logan on the bench, no sign of Yeates.

Christopher Fagan scored the equaliser for Man United in the FA Youth Cup Semi Final, they've qualified for the final and will now face holders Liverpool in a two-legged final.

Nothing categorical, but I'm under the impression he's still keen to play for us.

Interesting that james simmonds is apparently back in the fold.

(Sorry if he's been mentioned already recently, but I had an enforced sabbatical from cyberspace!)

Been a little bored at work lately, so I whipped up a program to scan the day's soccer results across the pond based on soccerbase.com's homepage, and write out the results, together with any Irish players that played in each game, stayed on the bench, and list any scorers or bookings separately, and include links to the relevant soccerbase.com page (team, match or player)
Here is the fruits of my labours for saturday's games.
Some known issues with this is that it only works for the current day's games, so I can't run it against the games of weekends past, so I'm going to have to keep an eye on the soccerbase homepage for when it gets updated, and also it doesn't list sendings off or assists. Other than that it's pretty nifty!

Did anyone see the Liverpool game? Fullback's are usually more underappreciated than goalies but Finnan's performacne was so outstanding that my mother (hates football) could tell he was MOTM. 2 assists and flawless defending. If we play him on the right and let him find his form he and doyle will be a lethal combination.
"No regrets, none at all. My only regret is that we went out on penalties. That's my only regret. But no, no regrets." -Mick McCarthy

Cheers lads, I'd been noodling the idea around for a bit and finally got around to it.
If you notice any players missing (Robbie Williams and Michael Welch are missing from Saturday's games) let me know and I'll make sure they're in the following weekend's games.
Any other improvements you think are needed, even in layout (overuse of the word "Irish"?), don't hesitate and I'll do my best (within reason, I'm not going to add facemaps or club logos!) .
At the moment, it covers the 2 European Cups, the 4 leagues in England, the Scottish Premiership, and the 4 Cups (English and Scottish FA and League cups), but if you want the lower leagues in Scotland and the Conference added in I'll add them in.

Good man Tets, quality work. Can you create a programme to select the team, or unearth a quality central midfielder?

Err, nope, what I did was comparatively simple! Just use Football Manager 2007!
