Michael Harriman signs pro deal with QPR.

Frankie Sutherland is another Irish youngster who is highly rated by Steve Gallen who does his best to get his youngsters with Irish roots to declare for Ireland.

I swear this place is jinxing Irish players sometimes:

As soon as he was mentioned in the Joe Mason thread (amongst other places)

Huddersfield winger Anthony Pilkington suffers horror leg injury
]The Huddersfield Town winger Anthony Pilkington suffered a sickening injury during his side's 2-1 victory at home to Rochdale in League One.

The 22-year-old fell over in his own penalty area following an innocuous looking challenge but sustained what looked to be a badly broken leg. The game was delayed while Pilkington received treatment before being taken straight to hospital as nine minutes of stoppage time were added.

Lee Clark, the Huddersfield manager, told the club's website: "We do know it is a really bad one and it has hit everyone very hard – it took everything out of the game. I had a couple of my players emotionally drained, with tears in their eyes; there were even a couple of the Rochdale lads who were the same – it was terrible."
    Get well soon.

    Aww no, not again.

Its true, as soon as we demonstrate appreciative awareness of them and even God forbid, express a little bit of hope, down they go Joe, down. Sure as the sunset itself.

Leicester City's U18 academy side bowed out of the FA Youth Cup tonight, to Sheff Utd. Kevin Knight played for Leicseter, he is highly thought of at the club, a Shane Byrne and Connor Brennan (GK) were also named, Brennan didnt play - Im assuming Byrne and Brennan are Irish, Knight definitely is. It was the clubs best run in this competition for 20 years.

Sheff Utd had a, Long (GK), Maguire and Kennedy playing, anyone know about them?

James Collins is off and running at Shrewsbury after his move from Villa, 4 in 9 starts now.

    http://www.shrewsburytown.com/page/P...~53758,00.html

So we have Long, Mason and Collins spread through the lower divisions, I think all three could operate higher up than where they presently are given a chance.

Leicester: Shane Byrne is Irish, a midfielder, Connor Brennan is Northern Irish

Sheffield United: George Long and Harry Maguire (imagine him and his namesake in the same team) both born in Sheffield, Terry Kennedy born in Barnsley...not sure if any qualify for Ireland

Aaron Barry who played the full 90 for Sheffield United is, however, Dublin-born and is a defender. He and Shane Murray (who didn't play) both moved to United from Arklow Town.

A 17 year old Nathan Redmond made his debut today for Birmingham v Bolton in the FA Cup Quarter Final. Very good young player. He might have Irish links - Redmond being mostly an Irish name. Should be looked at.

Norwich vs Bristol City starting now, Hoolahan and Tierney start for Norwich, Keogh on the bench for Bristol City

EDIT: Hoolahan just won a penalty after 45 seconds, nice flick on from Simeon Jackson, Hoolahan I think sort of dallied on the ball in the box but went by Fontaine and was hauled down.

Young striker Connor Smith has made the bench for Watford for (I believe) the first time tonight. They have five strikers in the squad so I doubt he'll get a run unless its a blowout but you never know.

yep, he made it all the way to the final too.
The rumour was that both he and the other Irish lad in the final, Craig Walsh, turned down the contract, and it went to the English guy by default
Think Craig is with Shamrock Rovers now?

From yesterday's tabloids, Celtic want Westwood on a free at the end of the season. Not sure this would be a great move, but would leave the door open for Quirke to become No. 1. It's mentioned too that Coventry would like Hughton to become manager which would be good considering the amount of Irish at the club. Being lazy here, but does anyone know anything about Chris Hussey's nationality?
