Stand to left of Kop - so North Stand. Think it is where your fans go for matches V Linfield ? small enough Bohs crowd but no catering facilities at all apart from one man burger operation that ran out. Similarly no programmes avalablein that stand. Not difficult to deal with these issues (perhaps they deal better with bigger crowds ?) but was dissapointed by the place. Must say though the Kop stand did look impressive.

The dates for Dundalk’s two-legged Setanta Sports Cup tie with Linfield have been confirmed. The Lilywhites will travel to Windsor Park for the opening leg on Saint Valentine’s Day, Monday 14 February, with the return set for a fortnight later on Monday 28 February at Oriel Park. Both matches kick-off at 7.45pm. Note, a kick-off time may change in the event of a fixture being televised live

Report on Goodwill Trip to Windsor Park by Dundalk supporters:

DESSIE GORMAN CUP LAUNCHED
Dundalk FC and the DFC Trust would like to thank Linfield FC for their hospitality on Saturday during our goodwill visit prior to the Setanta Cup matches in February.. We will have a report and photos from the trip online soon. As part of proceedings the Dessie Gorman Cup was launched. This will see an annual friendship programme for youth players between the two clubs. MORE>

.....Speaking at the launch, Gorman said: "It is a real honour to have a cup named after you, but particularly so for this annual event, which promotes friendship and understanding between different communities. My relationship with supporters at Dundalk and Linfield was exceptional; it is inspiring to see the supporters of both clubs mixing so well together here today. The Dunfield Youth Project was a groundbreaking initiative and it is very special to have that project celebrated through these new youth challenge matches that will promote greater cross-community appreciation and acceptance through sport.

Nice window dressing, but what a pity that for the actual game that supporters will be treated like cattle which could hardly be described as promoting "greater cross-community appreciation and acceptance through sport."

The Goodwill trip was far from "window dressing" and simply is another step in the on-going close cooperation and ties between the two clubs. The Dessie Gorman Cup, which was announced as a celebration of the former Dunfield Youth Project, is about an annual friendship challenge between Dundalk and Linfield under-age teams.

The Dunfield Project was a shining example of what can be achieved on cross-border cross-community initiatives, despite the cycnicism that was shown form many others, especially amog non-Linfield people in Belfast.

There was a host a marvellous stories that were re-told on the day, including the infamous Jeff McNamara signing from Linfield to Dundalk on amateur forms, only for the 1997 promotion/relegation play-off with Waterford. As Waterford fans may painfully recall he scored twice for Dundalk, being man-of-the matches over the two games. Two games and two goals only for Dundalk and Jeff McNamara became a part of Dundalk folklore.

Last Saturdays trip also allowed some important new ground to be broken with the Mid Shankill Linfield Supporters Group hosting Dundalk fans in their club in the heart of the Shankill

The arrangements for the two Setanta Sports Cup games do have some restrictions in relation to the travel arrangements, but suggesting supporters will be treated like cattle is cycnical nonesense.

We could not have been treated with greater warmth, firiendship and genuine hospitality by the club and their supporters in Windsor Park last Saturday.

I did last Saturday in Windsor Park!! Many would prefer to be able to make independent travel arrangements, but EVERYONE I spoke to accepted the importance of having official travel arrangements.

Should, as per another thread elsewhere, Sporting Fingal have gone out of existance* by the time of their game with Lisburn Distillery on Feb.14th, anyone got any idea who is likely to replace them?

* - Or at least be unable to field a team

Jeez, this is all getting a bit farcical.

I mean, IL fans have no right to point the finger at any other League when it comes to matters of administrative competence etc, but even with our much lesser means etc, our clubs generally manage to make it from one season to the next.
