Ignore him. He hasn't a breeze. Galway's attendances this year are only marginally better than ours as well so I'm not sure why he's getting so aggravated.

The then owner of shels that ran up millions in debts died. Regardless of the division the structure of the club was going to change.

If Ollie was in charge we'd still be overspending in the first division and probably not exist today.

It's wrong to relate the two.

Shams can sell out 6,000 seats now but when they were relegated i'd say 600 to 1,000 would be the very maximum attendance and the sunshine Shels fans only seem to pop up when it looks like they might win the league. Most Irish fans are the same in every sport sadly.

In fairness we don't get a massive surge of fans for big games. I'd expect a big crowd in Tolka for the playoff but nothing more than 2000.

The point I was making was there's no comparison between Shels and Derry. There's no point in talking about it since we don't know where Derry will end up.

I know that but its still an nice increase and a few Shels fans have told me themselves it can be annoying that none of these people are around all year but arrive out for the glory.

Like what happened at the last game of last season against Limerick!

TBH honest, at the moment I don't think I and most Shels' fans really give a crap when the fans come once they do. I'd say the same goes for most clubs.

Stu the problem could be that Derry have a rite to appeal any decision from the FAI and with the play offs on tuesday they could be deciding how to rectify this mess

Well then don't make stupid comments comparing the loyalty of the supporters of 2 league of Ireland clubs. The 900 or so Shels fans that attend most home games since our demmotion are as loyal as any in the league.

cheers - i didnt think about that.

By the way, this isnt schadenfreude. I genuinely feel for Derry and despite the slaggings we get into here yours is a city, team and fans that i have a lot of time for.

My interest is purely in seeing how the FAI deal with this.

Derry can't have booby-trapped it, right? Padraig Smith could be left shredded by paper cuts, the entire FAI board wiped out by a rogue capitalization of earnings...
