While we wait in boredom and depression, at least someone has updated the tags:
"the never ending wait"
The most truthful tag I've ever read
According to the Derry fans on here it's most likely the current entity won't be in a position to start the season no matter what division they're supposed to be in.
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.
Interesting debate on RTERadio1 - Gabriel Egan Emmet Malone and former GUFC chairman and freelance journalist, John Fallon

Better attendances, seen as a bigger club that either Drogheda or Bray, arfe two of the main perks when it comes to the FAI
I'm not at all advocating this solution either, just think the FAI will go down this road as it's a cop out that most would live with
I'd honestly take on board Keeley's suggestion from during the week that the two divisions be joined together for the next three seasons with no relegation whilst all the clubs try and get their houses in order. Those that do can be invited to whatever new structure the FAI will put in place, those that can't are told to get out
Obviously they'd be part time, but comparing them to Shels is wrong. Derry have a much bigger fanbase, attendances and general interest and I'm sure teams would find the Brandywell very intimidating, which couldn't be said for Tolka Park, plus Shels were relagated in January, Derry have two months more to find players, a new manager etc...
Yes, you could see their massive fanbase over the last few months. Don't be so naive. The bandwagoners are gone now. Derry will get a similar crowd to us next year in the 1st Division.
Emmet Malone saying amateur/part-time NOT the way to go or back to the bad old days. Like these days are so good. He is advocating an All Ireland league.
Fallon saying clubs need to stop focusing on money and put grassroots and structures in place. Not aware of the work he did in his years as chairman putting in place underage structures and sorting out getting our own training ground.
He wants a 16-team league, return to Winter football and makes one good point that unless there is big TV coverage, or a union paying contracts (like IRFU) then there is no hope for a full time league

Have a look at our attendances since we were relegated, an average of just under 900 for 2007, and over 900 for the two years since. That would suggest a huge amount of loyalty. You haven't a breeze what you're on about. Derry's fans have deserted them the last few months. Look at the admissions from some of their fans on here about only season ticket holders attending recently.

Rumours that relegation to First Division and 10 point penalty is the outcome.
</completely unofficial>
That's from a text sent to someone on the chat room from their source. Apparently.
Agree with this. Derry will suffer the same fate as any other club that goes down to the first division. A drop in attendance. Maybe not at first but if Derry aren't winning week in week out in the first division it wouldn't be long before a lot of fans disappear. Look at Shamrock Rovers and Shelbourne for example. Shams can sell out 6,000 seats now but when they were relegated i'd say 600 to 1,000 would be the very maximum attendance and the sunshine Shels fans only seem to pop up when it looks like they might win the league. Most Irish fans are the same in every sport sadly.
