forest classified as a big club .. why because of old past history
when was the last time they were in the preimership or even challanging for promotion

Big relatively in terms of history and support. Not too many small clubs win the European Cup. Certainly (from a size point of view although I tell my wife size isn't everything) should be in the top tier along with Derby, Sheffield Wednesday, Leeds United and possibly The Blunts.

Obviously it's hard to measure this as it's not an exact science but I wouldn't really have had Sheff Utd there. It was hard to comprehend Leeds v Forest being a League 1 match last season.

Southampton will be relegated after being deducted 10 points (if they don't avoid being in bottom 3 the 10 point deduction takes place next season in League One)

Championship team of the Year (only one Irishman :():

Keiren Westwood (Coventry), Kyle Naughton (Sheff Utd), Roger Johnson (Cardiff), Richard Stearman (Wolves), Daniel Fox (Coventry), Michael Kightly (Wolves), Stephen Hunt (Reading), Joe Ledley (Cardiff), Jordi Gomez (Swansea, on loan from RCD Espanyol), Sylvan Ebanks-Blake (Wolves), Jason Scotland (Swansea).

So it's the Blunts, the Clarets, Reading and Preston (Cardiff had been in the driving seat but lost to Wednesday in front of 30k at Hillsboro). Not sure which of Burnley or Reading I'd like to see get through - Burnley with Owen Coyle as manager and Reading with the Irish players.

How the "mighty" have fallen at the other end though with Soton, Norwich and Charlton all relegated.

Really surprised by the huge dip in form by Reading in 2009 when they looked odds on for automatic promotion at the end of 2008. Coppell has now resigned I believe.

Burnley, with a small squad and despite numerous games, have deservedly got to the play-off final and good luck to Owen Coyle. He's done a great job so far.

Hopefully Burnley can do it. I think they would compete well in the PL. Turf Moor could be a difficult place to go and I would definitley prefer to see them there than the yo-yo blunts (that was just for your benefit owls fan!!)

Thank you :D Actually Wednesday used to be called the yo-yo club when dinosaurs ruled the earth (actually the 1950s). The Owls also scored 8 goals against Burnley in the league this season so hopefully they'll tighten up against the Blunts.

Claret Murph(I'll post this on here in the hope this thread is not hijacked) - I'll not be making the trip to wembley - to be honest since we hired thon loser Robson:rolleyes: he ripped all emotion from the club & I haven't been back to the lane since our last time in the EPL hence I aint nowhere near as enthusiastic about this match as yourself but after the shenanigans of our last trip to the EPL I do think(from blades point of view) justice would finally be served if we won promotion back then used the money to buy Tevez -he's already paid for a new stand for us so why not play for us now to.

These days much prefer now to waste my money on away trips to watch Eire(much better craic) but also then means i've little money for anything else.

Sure I'll buy you a pint to console you in the airport before Sofia:D:D

Yes they do get what they deserve & when Zola heads of to chelsea & you lot have no money to buy players cause you will have paid all your transfer kitty money to Sheff Utd & you have to sell all those youngsters & end up relegated can I be the first to say to you "Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, "

If that is the case, fine because our owners will have screwed up the club etc a la Newcastle and we will have to live with that

I have been through relegation as a fan loads of times and is isn't nice - and I would hate to be a blade this evening - but equally Mr McCabe and the others have corrupted the way sport should work

Funnily enough the Owls beat Burnley twice, scoring 4 on each occasion so will be sad to see them go as well.

Prior to last season's 6 points, last double over Sheffield United was 91 years ago. What is the liklihood of it happening again next season? 91/1 perhaps?

Other than Leicester, not much strength coming up from the 1st Division (Scunthorpe and Peterboro).

It was refreshing to hear the MK Dons chairman interview yesterday. Very complementary towards WBA and Di Matteo. Seems like a very grounded guy and realises they're just another cog in the manager merry-go-round.

7 draws, including Wednesday losing a 2 goal lead (plus ca change) and Watford holding Doncaster at Vicerage Road. Only good news, Ipswich losing to Coventry to 2 excellent goals by Clint. I heard Keane talking about conceding "sloppy goals" but they were two great strikes by Clint. More training with the Paras for Ipswich?

I'd like to see Derby do well. I have a buddy over there so I go over for a match or two each season. They probably have the best fans in the league. Nearly 30,000 every week for a struggling Chamionship side is incredible support.

Was absolutely thrilled to see Warnock at the end of the goal fiasco against Bristol City. Couldn't have happened to a bigger plonker. No only does the ball cross the line but it actually hits the back of the goal and bounces out and the ref and linesman don't see it.

He then attacks Bristol City for not allowing them to take a restart and deliberately concede a goal (this with a club he has previous with), refuses to shake hands with any of the City players and calls for a replay. Wrong on all counts.

FiFa should try as an experiment in some lower league game video technology for some incidents and see does it "slow the game down". I am sure that their argument is, well if we allow it for goal line incidents, where will it stop. Frees, penos, bookings etc etc - games could move from 90 minutes to 120 minutes.

I'd probably agree with goal line but some I have seen aren't clear cut. The English one in 1966 still can't be proven one way or the other.

Love it when it happens to Warnock.

Why does this always happen to Warnock - quite like him normally. I understand why owlsfan has a particuar dislike to the man but by all accounts he is a decent bloke when away from the pitch(unless you happen to be Wally Dowds or Gary Megson that is). He was totally wrong but so was Jordon he was way OTT but both were wrong - ahh if only warnock engaged the brain before the gob other clubs fans might actually have some sympothy for him

Congrats on the win.

Don't understand even long term Wednesday increasing the capacity of the stadium since when in the Premiership it was full for only a couple of games. If they have 22 million, should it not be spent on players? Also not sure where the money is coming from for this as I thought they were skint. Big deal - it's used for a few games in the World Cup. A white elephant comes to mind.

Will it be more of the same for Forest this season? it's lookin like it at the moment. I know you tipped them to do well but didn't understand the optimism, haven't been keeping track of their transfer activities or pre-season? Would have expected Billy Davies to do well there though.

I expect them to challenge for a play off spot but that is assuming he strengthens in defence. He has basically bought everybody he brought in on loan since January (Gunter, Blackstock etc) and added Adebola and McKenna from Preston.

It's a thin enough line between fighting relation and fighting for a playoff spot in that division anyway so who know?

Things aren't getting any easier for Ipswich with Shane Supple retiring. The next 3 matches look menacing enough as well...

Public money for Wednesday's stadium? Have they sold rights in it to the Council I wonder which would annoy the red third of Sheffield or where has the money come from? Must investigate.

Apparently it's from some council grant thats been lying around for a while & they are desperate to spend it, synically, lots of blades fans are of the opinion its due to the fact 95% of Sheffield council are owls fans(don't know where this comes from). Even still its rich from a club who only weeks ago asked their own fans to bring their own paint & help paint some stand. Lots of blades fans think your new chairman reminds them so much of previous sufc chairmen prior to Dooley & McCabe in that they are full of hot air & just looking for ways to rip the club off & that he has just announced this because sufc announced last week their new stadium plans to make it a 37-38000 all seater capacity with new roofing for one of the stands(i think it was the Kop) to try & gey named as a world cup venue if that lot over the water win the 2018w.c.

Saw the WBA vs Ipswich game. Ipswich need to tighten up at the back if they are to make any sort of challenge for promotion. WBA created a host of chances but Ipswich created quite a few as well. Garvan played but had a quiet game. Bruce played at full back but lost his man on a number of occasions.

Relegated teams leading the way apart from Cardiff. Early days yet though.

I had forgotton that Cantona came to Wednesday first but stormed off to Leeds when Trevor Francis asked him to prove himself on grass (the green stuff) in snow bound Sheffied. He won a league title with Leeds :o

Surprised that a Swede tops the list. I thought David Hirst would get it.

No win still for Ipswich and the relegated clubs are doing well. History shows that if they don't bounce back the first season, it's a long hard climb after that.
