Big game on Saturday week big for our big bet Jebus!
I think the momentum is back in my court after the win against Cardiff, especially when coupled with the Rangers bottle job against Sheff Utd :p

I think you're deluded. :p
So deluded that you may be right! Well you'd need to be touched in some way to predict how the division may pan out. Preston jump out of relegation zone after beating leaders Stoke tonight. But I like wild-speculating games so I'll say QPR will finish on 57 points, including a 4-0 drubbing of a hapless and soon to be hopeless Wednesday on the 8th March. :D

Preston turned the corner some weeks back so it was no surprise they beat Stoke. Weird division at the moment. Half is capable of being promoted and half relegated. I think it would be fair to say the likely candidates for relegation are Scunthorpe/Colchester and a.n. other. Promotion, I would say Watford/WBA and a.n. other.

The takeover approach has been announced to the stock exchange, so this really could be the real deal.
A return to the Premiership in a year or two? Hope so

Let them avoid relegation this season first of all and then see what happens next ;)

I was thinking the same when I read that they want promotion to the Premier next season in that Sheffield Tribune article you posted :)

Wrist slitting time. Was watching the results come in on the Sky Sports Centre and had been pleased that Wednesday were holding WBA 0-0 (albeit at home) when the host said "There's been a last minute goal at Hillsborough". I knew it wasn't Wednesday and of course Phillips has scored for WBA. I flung the remote at the far chair and almost throttled the wife who was sitting beside me innocently reading her magazines. Preston had also won so now 3 points adrift off safety.
Ireland and Wednesday must hold the record for conceding last minute goals  Utterly depressing.

Sorry Old Youth, I was responding to the love I estimate DublinOwl to have for free falling English Championship sides at the mo, taking my cue from his line.
Take no offence on the behalf of the Youths, I'm looking forward to the game myself and my first trip to Ferrycarrig, and board the ferry in little over a day, and whatever the result, I cannot see anything other than fraternal love being exchanged between the majority of us Blues fans and the Wexford posse.

Leicester win 4-1 at WBA. Wtf! Owls scrape a point away at Coventry but find themselves back in the bottom 3. It certainly is a topsy turvy league this season. Stoke and Bristol City in the top 2 places. The Premiership is quaking at the thought of them being promoted I bet.

That Leicester result was bizzare alright. And Preston continue to accelerate away from the drop zone at speed.
Considering Wednesday only managed two shots on goal yesterday :o, I'll happily take the point. It's really vital that we get something out of the game(s) in hand.
Colchester and Scunthorpe both have tricky games on Tuesday night and the good news is that neither can catch us even with a win.
However we've got two very tough games coming up, Warnocks' Palace on Saturday, and watch Glenn Whelan score against us in the 97th minute the following week!
Never a dull moment with the Owls!

Well, I've booked to the last game of the season against Norwich since this looks as if it's going to go to the wire both at the top and at the bottom. Colchester and Scunthorpe look doomed so it's then beween any one of about 6.
WBA should be running away with the league but can't keep a clean sheet (except against Wednesday ) and their game against Colchester was a roller coaster, winning 4-3 in the end.
Sligo-Hornet, what has happened to Watford?

I cannot see us getting automatic ( and truth be known I don't want promotion ) and ALL three that do go up will struggle to emulate Derby!!

Didn't field too many. Too many on the team sheet but two of the loanees never took the field so it will probably (hopefully) only be a small fine similar to what Leeds got in.
Big 6 pointer against Coventry this evening: forget your Champions League ;)

Great goal by Whelan last night for Stoke but didn't stop them being beaten 1-2 by Palace. Can't believe Stoke are in the top 2 with dross like Cresswell and Pearson (ex-Celtic) as some of their main men. The only time I saw Delap in the game was when he was throwing the ball long, Stoke's main weapon. I still fancy WBA and Watford for the 2 top places, although both face each other soon.
Sheffield derby tonight . Not optimistic but that's the normal mental condition of an Owls' fan.

Watford Barnsley that will be a classic. Nothing against any of the teams but I really hope that West Brom get up as they play great football.

I was out to dinner with the missus for her birthday and asked a friend to keep me posted of the scores by text. Beeb beeb 1 up. Beeb beeb 2 up. Beeb beeb 1 up. And then I waited with baited breath and the dreaded beep beep came with 5 minutes to go. I knew in my heart it wasn't 1-3. As Jebus said, I would have taken 2-2 at 7.45 but to lose a 2-0 lead with 20 minutes left. Memories of the 1966 cup final.

Memories of the 66 cup final
I was tuned in to last nights game (as usual) via BBC Radio Sheffield and it sounded like we were soaking up pressure and playing on the counter. Lee Grant made a couple of early saves and Songo and Johnson were very effective on the break. Burton was causing their centre-halves lots of problems too.
Our first goal really was a surprise and it's been that long since we took the lead in a game it was hard to know if Wednesday would know what to do. Thankfully made it to half time in front and even more thankfully we didn't sit back second half. Two nil, Bolder again, Wednesday seemingly in control.
But alas Wednesday are never really in control, even 2 goals to the good. (I think it was Swindon Town a few seasons ago, two nil up with 8 minutes left. Three points in the bag you'd think... no... surely a point... no... :o )
Looks like Kav wil miss the Plymouth game on Monday having pulled up with a hamstring injury late on.

I formally apologise, on behalf of our Club, to my Owl friends here....what I witnessed last night was the single worst performance I have seen in over 40 years:mad: ( yes I am "that old" )
As I have said on here before, I sincerely hope Watford do not get promoted as the would be a greater embarrassment than Derby!...in fact West Brom aside ( and even they will struggle unless they invest heavily ) ANY of the Championship sides would be lucky to get close to a double figure points tally in the Premier League!

Was really disappointed with last night's result needless to say (almost as much as you I'd say). It is so topsy turvy at the bottom. Don't turn your back on promotion. You can't pick and choose when to be promoted. Embrace it with open arms if it comes your way.
Biggest match for Wednesday in a few years coming soon: Leicester vs Owls. The proverbial 6 pointer.

How I hate watching Wednesday play. Spent most of the evening swearing at the players. Mother-in-law chose to phone my wife just as Plymouth scored without a Wednesday player having touched the ball. I let out a scream of "F***!!" which I believe was heard on the other end of the phone. It was a must win game but I was thankful to scrape a draw in the end.
4 points cover the 7 teams scrapping to avoid that final relegation spot. Far more interesting that anything going on in the Premiership. Going to the last game at Hillsboro against Norwich. It will be decided there.

We could have trouble finding a place to stay in Sheff though, as the snooker final is on that weekend

It's looking very serious now alright OwlsFan.
You'd expect Southampton to get nothing at West Brom next week though. Might be relying on the Blades to do us a favour on the last day. I've completely given up trying to predict our results.
It'll be heart attack stuff in Sheffield on the last day...

Don't think we'll be down by last day of the season but it really does look like it's between us and Southampton now. I still think we can take at least a point off Leicester away and beat Norwich at home, and I think that would keep us in the division

Many people's eyes were on Chelsea vs Man U. That was only the appetizer as far as I was concerned for the big match: Leicester vs Wednesday in the proverbial six pointer at the bottom of the Championship. I sat in front of Sky Sports and Jeff Stelling for the afternoon and helplessly awaited my fate.
It started badly. An early goal down and all the other relegation rivals winning as well. That sinking feeling known to most Wednesday supporters. Wait, news from the Walker Stadium! A penalty to the Owls. It's missed. Oh my God. Burton, you utter idiot. Then miracles of miracles. An equaliser in the 45th minute and the lead early in the second half . The game had started 5 minutes late and it's going to be still going on when all of the other games are over. Not being able to watch the game but just the captions showing goals coming in is excruciating. They go for the odd report and we are told Leicester are bombarding the Wednesday goal. Famous for their 90th minute concession of goals I fear the worst. My heart races.
All the other results are coming in. Just Wednesday's is awaited. Jeff Stelling exclaims in dramatic tones: "There's been a development at the Walker Stadium that can change the whole picture at the bottom". "Fu******kkkk" I yell at the tv but up comes the commentator with the caption 1-3. Unbelievable. Raptures.
In a nutshell, that's why we love football.
Can still throw it away but in Wednesday's own very unsafe hands now. Oh yeah, Chelsea beat Man U.
