I didn't see the game but the lads were saying that they threw it away, nobody to blame but themselves.

Another defeat this morning, 4-2 against Arrow Harps. Long season and with the GAA starting to get serious a few players would appear to be losing interest in the soccer.

Abbey at home in the Cawley Cup on Wednesday night, should be interesting. A bit crappy having it midweek tho, dunno if all the non-Manor based lads will be able to make it back home from Dublin/Limerick etc.

Arrow Harps led 4-0 at one point. Manor hit back with two late goals. Arrow Harps can thank Johnny Kenny who was a one man show at times up front, scoring 2 and assisting twice. Manor did look tired but could have got a result as missed some chances at key times.

Well done to Manor for a great season. Hopefully they can build for next season - one of the best teams around to get it down and play.

Unexpected play-off for Calry now tho.

City United beat Arrow Harps 3-2 tonight. Citys winning goal assisted by the ref...arrow harps had a perfectly good goal ruled out for offside...shocking since there was 'asistant referees'!! Donagh Oates changed the game whe he came on...city played some lovely one touch football in fairness and probably deserved their win overall. Best of luck to them in the final.

Unexpected play-off for Calry now tho.

Play off on sunday at home to cartron.

Calry will struggle Id say, a few months ago I would have been confident but interest has been lost with the lack of games.

Calry staying up, beat Cartron 3-0. Kevin Devaney MOTM by a mile, a class above anyone else on the pitch

redtildead

He had a part in all the goals and was really the only attacking threat in the game and in Calry's whole season.

Rovers A Team if I can persuade him :D

Abbey United have gone out of business due to lack of admin support, most of the players leaving and the cost of running a club.

where will all the players move to

Carbury and City will get the majority of players I'd say

I heard that Cartron were asked to replace them but turned down the offer

DonalE

Surely Strand would take Abbey's place as they were relegated and Treacy pulled out mid season.

Only 2 Abbey players signing for Carbury as far as I know, possibly one more to follow.

Keith carty and Neil mc kenna and Andrew mc Loughlin signed for Carbury. Keith Carty will capt the Carbury team this year.Lee Marshall Damien Scanlon signing for city.John Gaffney i think signing for Glenview Stars as is gary rooney.Garth Kelly and Stephen coen merville utd.Chris kelly Rovers.Glen shannon is signing for Strand Celtic.Should make for a close league this year.Top 3 teams this year will be Carbury City Utd Manor rangers.Think Carbury will win it but Manor and city will push them all the way!

I think Cartron turn down the chance to go up down!So i think it was only fair for Strand to stay up.

Does the 4th division only have 5 teams in it this year? Surely there'll only be 3 divisions this time next year so

Stand 2-1 Calry

Good game, strand got the winner in injury time. Would have been seriously harsh had they not done, after being the better side for alot of the game. Hit post and crossbar, Calry dangerous on the break though.

Heard Yeats beat Carbury 3-2....any other results?

They're all up on the oceanFM website. Good start for ye, nice to get 3 points i'd say. 2 big mistakes gifted Carbury their goals against Yeats. Was surprised at the result to be honest but Yeats fully deserved to win, Carbury were missing some big players

Big time. First 3 ponius in god knows how long. Much stronger squad this year, and a good bench, nice change i tell ya. Big win for city against Arrow. Yeats will always be a hard side to get anything from.

Thought strand just about deserved it really, although a draw would have been a fair enough result aswell I thought.

First half was even but ye got stronger as game went on.

Dunno would I agree about a good game, first half was awful scrappy the second was only a slight improvement.

Strands new pitch is looking good, very hard and bouncy though considering the rain recently.

How many chances or even shots had calry? There was nothing except a few crosses. But as i said they will def take points off teams as the season goes on, as they play the space very well and are quick on the break.

redtildead
26/08/2008, 1:17 PM
Calry had a few shots in either half, but really only from distance, nothing I would call a good chance.

From sundays game ye should be well safe this year, calry on the other hand will do well not to be relegated I reckon.

Anyone looking for a seriously quality centre half:) Is it to late to sign for a junior club?

redtildead
10/09/2008, 11:49 PM
Don't think its too late, but have you signed for underage yet?

Does anyone know if you can play for different underage and junior league clubs? eg. Calry & Strand

I'm not sure who'll all know this but well-known local referee Vinny McGuinn died last night after a short-illness.

AFAIK All games both Junior and Youth have been called off for this weekend as a mark of respect to Vinny.

I'm a bit shocked by his passing, as Vinny used to ref all our games at home right up until his illness. He was a bit of a character and I'm sure his passing will be felt by all involved in Junior and Youth football in Sligo/Leitrim.

R.I.P.
