did anyone hear that theres a play-off now bewtween 3rd from bottom, and 3rd from bottom....to see who plays 3rd team in premier?

it was pauric connor who told me so im not convinced?!

i would expect the team who finishes third from bottom will win this playoff

poor pauric is a great man for confusing simple things

Leveller

the 20 to 1 seems very poor odds considering abbey gave a bye to killarney in the next round in order to avoid travelling expenses

Are you serious?

red metal will prob confirm this but the main reason for them not travelling was the timing of the game just before xmas. Most players will be working and if you look at 2 for example, lee marshall & stevie coen, wrk in the same shop so they both hardly going to get one of the busiest shopping days off. It was justr bad luck such a long journey was drawn for them.pity too, i think they could have g0ne far in that comp!

calry 2-3 abbey.

even enough game i thought, not many chances created bu either side up until the last 10 mins when abbey could have added a few! calry relied on the long ball once we lost the lead for the 2nd time. good first goal from us. definate penalty for abbey aswell, clear hand ball. gave ye a good enough game red metal, without really threatening ye in front of goal in the last hour! what you think?

Even enough feo!In fairness ye played well enough in the first half made it really hard for us. ye work hard as a unit! But i thought ye maybe sat a bit to deep in the last 20 min and thay only invited us on!

feo123
17/12/2007, 9:29 PM
yeah once we scored we sat back. i thought maybe if we put two up front we might have even got a third!? tbh it looks like strand are going down anyway. just not sure if we have a playoff or whats the craic

feo123
22/12/2007, 11:07 PM
how do ye think the super league will finish up lads?
id say abbey will win it in the end, manor might run them close! carbury in 3rd. at the other end strand will go down imo (sorry biscuit), and it'll be between ourselves and arrow harps for the play-off spot, we still have harps, manor, boyle and strand to play...7 points would probably gurantee survival...depends on what arrow harps do then

in the premier league, id say cartron and tubber might well get promoted....maybe grange for the play off spot?

red metal
03/01/2008, 2:11 PM
Your right Feo Manor will run us very close this season! And in fairness they are a good side!I said it before the 2 lads up front for Manor are a real handful.I think Strand are in real bother i cant see them staying up.But on saying that Strand will have tere day in the sun. They have one of the best youth set up in Country its a real credit to the committee out tere

feo123

yeah thats true, probably one of the only junior league sides that also have a good youth system, seems to be growing every year. merville could well have a senior side in a few years too with all the youth teams they have!

Merville always had a good youth set up!But i dont think they have any intrest in running a juinor side!I maybe wrong on that.Back in the early 80 and 90 they were the boys to beat.

feo123
05/01/2008, 8:59 PM
they had a good team at my age level all through the years from under 14-18, between about 2002-2006, there under 18s are gone now though

Merville v Abbey was the big one when i was going to school.Because we all went to school together.we won the u15 and the following year u17 with Merville runners up each time! The cranmore boys never let them live it down.

Watch this Space lads, there could be a monster trawling the lower reaches of Junior Soccer in Sligo Next Season, and they will be majority Under 21;)

Basically it will be players who came through the ranks over the last 10 years, of which a few did play for treacy. Treacy are planning to reapply next season also, so it could be fun:D

played them last sunday, there not great...have some experienced heads that get them by. ex rovers man johnny kenny is solid at the back with seany potts. keeper is dodgy, he's a madman, rushes off his line the hole time, try and shoot as much as possible. have a decent left winger, looks foreign but his names daniel, long hair....keep tight to him.
noel mckenna in centre midfield has been scoring goals for a good few years now consistently, he's decent, will be wearing number 5 in centre midfield...can strike a ball from distance.

their pitch wil be perfect, its brand new and wasnt a drop of water on it last sunday....the game was meant to be on our pitch but it was waterlogged so we went and played it on theirs and it was perfect, so it wont be called off......

are ye from galway?

Strand relegated today as Calry won 2-0 against boyle, we move ahead of arrow harps by two points and we both have 1 game left to play, both against manor. arrow harps have to beat them so imo they'll be in play off

feo123
17/02/2008, 9:57 PM
btw i'm still suspended from when i got a red card in an u18 game at the end of october, im not allowed play senior games until i serve the ban at under 18 level first, senior games i miss don't count, only missing an u18 game will work off the suspension, yet i still cant play either level until i complete the 3 games, we have had 2 under 18 games in 4 months so im still out, i just think its very unfair for a young player to have to go through this! what do ye think?

kieran rooney and kevin devaney, it was a good result alright, boyle wern't as good as they were at the start of the season when they beat us 5-1. they had a foreign lad that day he wasnt playing and id say one or two others aswell but we grinded it out in the end. boyle were poor though from the word go. manor away next sunday for us in the last league game, a win guarantess safety from the play offs, it'll be tough though hopefully we do ye a favour red metal!

2 seasons ago Glenview were Abbey's main rivals, the next year 2 or 3 Glenview players left and went to Abbey and Glenview got relegated.

Last year it was Strand who were the main rivals and then, as before, 3 players left Strand and signed for Abbey. Strand then get relegated :O

So what i'm saying is watch out Manor :D

nah the manor lads won't go to abbey, with strand and glenview being closer to town and some players being from town itself it was easier to just move to abbey, doubt many of the manor lads know the abbey players like the other to teams would have

if we can keep everyone from this season for next year.We would be very happy with the squad. But your right we would not mind having the 2 lads that play up front for Manor:L.I said it a 100 time 2 very good players. And the manor boys deserve all the credit they are getting at the min.But i still feel on or day with a full squad of fit players we are a match for anyone
