Touché. I see the post you're referring to now. My apologies.
However, your comments about UCD continued to be utterly ill-informed. The three (now) players on trial at English clubs have been offered new contracts. We've offered what we can, and if they get better elsewhere, there's nothing we can do. UCD cannot compete with clubs from the English Second, First and Premier divisions - end of story.
We're one of the few clubs who live in a land of financial reality. the players concerned are all out of contract, so transfer fees, if any, will be decided by arbitration. We've stood up to other clubs - notably Shels and Drogheda - with regards transfer fees before and won, so I don't know where you get your idea that we don't look for "better" fees. And I don't see it as a problem with the league in general. Most clubs around the world are selling clubs. In A Season With Verona, for example, we see a team who can only compete in Serie A by recouping £8m from selling players every year. We're showing that your career can progress either by coming back home to Ireland for a while or by staying in Ireland in the first place. By doing so, we're going to be able to attract better calibre players in the future.
Keeping your best players every single time is a nice idea, but it doesn't work in the real world.
Fair points so. I didn't read anywhere that they were offered contracts but I'll take your word for it.
I suppose all UCD fans think I have it in for the club. Not true. I bought one of those "Trinity ****e" keyrings when KCFC played them a few years ago. Still have it. Whatever about everything else, keyrings with swear words in them have great marketability and I hope your club included a reference to your keyrings in UCD's submission to the FAI.

Galway United (if we get promoted):
In: David Forde (Derry), Faz Kuduzovic & Adam Hughes (Sligo), Mark Leech & Simon Webb (Drogheda)
Out: Derek O'Brien (back to Sligo) Alan Gough (retired) Alan Murphy (Longford, so they'll have 2)

They're both out of contract alright. Kirby is Bohs/Pats bound I would think, as for Danny well he's one of our most senior players and with seniority so goes wages usually, good player but I don't know if we could afford him or Kirbs any more if there's a few clubs sniffing

Weird - he's a doctor, as far as I know. Wouldn't have thought someone like that would have moved cross channel, to be honest.

The bbc article refers to him as a "qualified" doctor...so he mightn't necessarily be practising right now.

I remember reading Pointless by Jeff Connor about a season with East Stirling and they played Gretna in the Scottish Division Three. He was a part-time footballer, full time doctor then anyway. That's only three years ago. I would imagine your average full time doctor woul dearn more than a Scottish First Division player! Especially as he's possibly the wrong side of 30 now.

Maybe he fancies a stint in the Mater?!..Or Bohs might need a new club doctor..strange if he is still a full time doctor and going to Bohs anyway

He was hugely prolific in the Second and Third Division in Scotland but I haven't seen him do too much this season.
David Forde linked with Cardiff City.
Local rag over here is reporting it as a done deal.
I'll try to confirm at the match tomorrow

MANCHESTER CITY 3 COUNTY RESERVES 1
Manchester Senior Cup
Dan Ellis came close to opening the scoring when he used his pace to race clear from the half-way line but his low shot was turned round the post by Andreas Isaksson in the City goal.
City took the lead on 9 minutes when Kelvin Etuhu intercepted a Tony Dinning pass and crossed to Ashley Grimes who headed past Darren Quigley.
The Hatters hit back and the dangerous Ellis was unlucky to see a left-foot effort from 20 yards fly just pas the post.
Then Chris Coward released Michael Malcolm but Isaksson got to the ball a fraction before the former Spurs striker and cleared the danger outside his box.
Sam Williamson then tested Quigley from distance but the trialist goalkeeper saved confidently
The Hatters equalised on 29 minutes when Tommy Rowe's in-swinging free kick evaded a packed penalty area and curled inside Isaksson's right-hand post.
City regained the lead three minutes later when Grimes turned on the edge of the box and beat Quigley inside his left-hand post.
Michael Bowler, back from his loan spell at Witton Albion, was unlucky to se a 20-yarder dip just over the bar.
County continued to press and Isaksson punched away a powerful drive from Michael Rose.
A poor back pass from Curtis Obeng gave Coward a chance but the young striker shot at Isaksson.
Grimes missed a golden chance to grab a hat trick when he glanced a header wide with the goal at his mercy.
Just before the break Gianluca Havern replaced Keith Briggs who had a nasty cut to his mouth.
Half time: Manchester City 2 County 1
The start of the second half failed to live up to the first 45 minutes with both sides struggling to get their game going.
County made a double substitution on 67 minutes. Greg Tansey replaced Tony Dinning with Ellis making way for Ryan Crowther.
City sparked into life on 67 minutes and almost grabbed a third goal but Sam Williamson's drive bounced to safety off the foot of the post.
The reprieve was short-lived, though. Five minutes later a spell of City pressure ended when substitute Ashley Williams scored from close range.
County then had a golden opportunity to get back in the game. Malcolm released Coward who saw his shot saved by Isaksson's legs.
County: Quigley; Briggs (Havern), Rose, Dinning (Tansey), Robinson, Bowler, Ellis (Crowther), Allen, Coward, Malcolm, Rowe.
Attendance: 212

There are reports today on the official Bohemians F.C. website that Sean Connor’s side are about to make a bid for
Sligo Rovers players Darren Mansaram, Harpal Singh and goalkeeper John O'Hara. Other transfer targets include Derry City's Clive Delaney and Ruaidhri Higgins, Dundalk's Philip Hughes, Drogheda United's Glen Fitzpatrick and Shelbourne's Owen Heary and Glen Crowe.
It has also been reported that Seán Connor is to travel to England to keep tabs on some transfer targets as he aims to take Bohemians back to the top in his first season at Dalymount Park......

Is that Crawley as in the ex Shels full back whose only ability was to hoof the ball into orbit? Washe with Shels this year, or did he go somewhere in between?
One of the papers today - quoted on the Shels forum - said Ollie Cahill has done a medical at Drogheda but will leave any decision on signing until after he comes back from holidays.
