That's way out of proportion, surely?
2x1 is the proportion for the tricolour, as far as I know.

Can I suggest that use the money gathered to fund the "staunton and delaney out" campaign - you would do ireland a great service and the nation would be eternally grateful

How about setting a closing date and going with the biggest banner you can get at that time?

Sounds better than just giving up.
Would it be possible to get it by the San Marino home game? If not, then the launch should be the San Marino away game (7th Feb), and the thread should close when we need to start ordering the flag for then.

How about end of novemer, if not all recieved by then?Does that give enough time to have it manufactured and delivered before the 15th?
Can you PM everyone that offered donations on the thread
just in case they all forgot about it!Absolutely not, they've had ample opportunity and reminders already.

BTW, to the person that pledged a multiple pledge of €140 and anyone that said they posted a cheque, I didn't receive any. I've only received one cheque, and that's accounted for.

I've asked on a Celtic forum and for £570 (€840) you should be getting:
At least 50' x 20', or in modern speak, 15m x 5m......depends on the material & how ornate the logo is though?!
I'd say we have enough to get a decent flag anyway.

I've only just discovered this thread (that'll teach me never to notice Stickies...!).
Any design for the banner yet ? I can't face trawling through 11 pages I'm afraid - I did the first 2 and my head's already fried.....

I don't think so. I'm not a big fan of name-and-shame. If people don't want to donate, even after pledging, that's their lookout.

Well, we broke €900 anyway. Strictly speaking it should be €800, as my transaction donation's supposed to be taken out of that, but I'll make up the difference.
I still haven't received any of those cheques that were promised. I hope they weren't lost in the post or eaten by the dog. :)

Right, the final total of donations for the banner was €830, plus the €100 I pledged to pay for transaction costs. casso36, can you talk to that crowd to see what can be done for that price. As I said the other day, if a few quid extra will take us up a notch, I'll make up the difference, but do me a favour and ask for prices before you tell them our budget. I have a list of names for the banner here, and I'll pay them directly when I get an invoice, electronically or by cheque, whichever they'd prefer.
Thanks to everyone that donated, it's still a huge amount all things considered.
Thanks,
adam

Right all,
Flag may not be ready for Ireland - San Marino Game. But is in the process of being designed by maker.
Please note that size of flag has been reduced to 20' x 6' at a cost of €570.00 + Vat@21%. = €689.70. The total required for bigger flag was not met! so this was the next best thing. I would like to suggest to send remainder of balance to Charity if thats ok? with everyone else.
I'd like to thank all who donated, didn't really think it would happen, but hey! well done all.
Names will be printed on rear of flag around edges, i think there was 29 in total.

That's a very expensive flag casso. Is the material extra special or just a case of rip off Ireland? :)

If if was up to me I'd get one of our UK based members to have a flag delivered to his house and bring it over for the next home game if possible.

Probably rip off Ireland!!
But hey they have to put the Logo and Names on it also!!:D
I'm sure it will be the real mccoy!! and not some ****ty material
Anyway i tried me best!!!;) :(
a 20' x 6' flag for €690!!!!
that sounds ridiculusly expensive
in euro2 shop you can buy a 5' x 3' tricolour for a bargain €2
with a score, a few of them with a bit of sellotape ..........;)

The Collection is finished now!!! Because a lot of people that offered
a Donation opted out in the end. We decided to put time scale on it and
it ended on 31/10/2006.
I'll talk to the flag company and see if they can make it bigger for price!!
thats all i can do!!

Obviously we didn't hit the target so since there's no pressure now, I'd like to review possibilities. Apparently dimensions isn't as strict as casso36 was led to believe, so first of all should we go for something with flag or banner dimensions?

No offence but I thought this was already decided upon before we even started donating. I was under the impression it was to be a flag with the foot.ie logo in the middle.
To be honest all I was hoping for was something big to raise above the crowd before kick off. A-la French fans with the big jersey.
