I've edited the first post in this thread with the latest pledge listings, which I'm recording in Google Spreadsheets (http://spreadsheets.google.com/). I've given casso36 edit access, if you want view access PM your email address to me. (Or just check the first post! :))
Great to see all the pledges, I would be wonderful to see casso36 pull this off. I would remind people, however, that pledges are just that, people have been known to pull out of them for good reasons and bad. I think we should be hitting at least halfway before we start taking in money.

Right!!!
Were up to €830.00 So far from 22 pledgers and user from the site, and only 2/3 weeks left to get the rest together.
If we want it done for Stuttgart Game.
Please email mates that use the site and get them to pledge some funds towards if possible. We have had over 1000 hits on this thread and surely we can get the remaining balance for flag. Come on lads!!! It will look great at all the games>

I wouldnt mind if my name was put on the back of the jersey/flag anyway. But maybe the rest of ye want the names on the front? Im not too bothered either way but I dont think names would look good on the front. Also Id prefer real names as I dont like my user name but again Im not too bothered as long as we get a decent flag/jersey

I think we're far enough along now to see that people are serious, so I'll set up a payment page over the weekend where people can make donations, via PayPal, credit card, bank transfer and cheque. I would like to add, however, that I think it would be a bad idea to try and work to a deadline of the next match. It's really not a very long time to get all the money in, get the the printers paid, get the banner finalised and approved by a majority, get it printed, get it shipped, etc.
It might be possible, but I don't want to be on the receiving end of a load of abuse if it doesn't all go according to plan.

I don't doubt it's a good process, but I reckon a copied and pasted logo from here would look pretty horrid. Raster images don't scale up too well! I can arrange a vector image though, I'm sure I have one here somewhere.
adam
I had to provide vector images for my Rebel Army Exiles banner and that's only 3m x 1.5m
I think t-shirts would be a better idea.
You can use SpreadShirt.net to design them and there's no overhead. If people want them, they buy them. If they, don't then it doesn't matter. The best bit is that you don't have to try and collect money from people who've promised to donate.

Sure go on..I'ill double my donation to 40 euro...Would much prefer if onenilgameover wasn't stuck on a flag that would be seen by the world so id go with names. The star should really come in here! They have got enough stories off us in the past. Also (this may not go down well but) what about asking the FAI for help. We are the closest thing to an Ireland Supporters group. (dont even mention Alan Hunters set up, guys an idiot) and the FAI could do well to link up with Fans on this one and try to win us back a bit. Would understand if people wanted to stay away from them. Just an idea.

Questions...
I know someone mentioned it before but.....(and I dont wanna put the dampeners on, I think its a great idea)
How are ye gonna get it round europe?
What is its size and weight when folded up? Will there be issues about getting it into the grounds? How many people does it need to be carried by? Security etc?
Who is gonna pay the weight charges on flights into different countries?
as adam said...advertising not allowed in grounds ie foot.ie logo?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
i reckon the French shirt in Paris was sponsored by adidas as it was an adidas shirt. id say they paid for it.
You could go to Umbro and see what they could offer us? We could take off the eircom ****ty logo and replace it with the foot.ie logo?
Although im almost sure that would vilolate every agreement made by umbro and eircom and the FAI. still ye never know...
Also in terms of getting the money ASAP I think ye are gonna be pushing it if ye wanna have it for Germany V Ireland unless a lump sum comes in quickly or the star advertize and the money comes in a frenzy.
Would be fantastic to have it in Stuttgart.
im happy to go with flag and leave my €50 in. the quicker everyone can get sorted the better, would love to have a massive flag taking over one end of the german stadium and help get us off to a winner there !!
the bigger the better, if we're all going to the trouble of getting one done may as well be something decent and something for the masses to sit back, admire and be proud of

in fairness all valid questions.
went to a game in kaiserslautern before the world cup and they tried to stop me bringing in a camera ffs. getting a flag in could be problematic.
someone mentioned about people getting upset about stuff being written on the tricolour.this is also very true - i'm pro the big jersey!!!
the jersey would be more fun and if something was written on it i dont think people would care.the number 12 idea sounded great to me.
the foot.ie on the flag/jersey? it means a lot more hits on the site and no doubt more members.i do think that the final call on that should be taken by the 'senior' members of the board.
put me down for 20.i'll pay the day the account/paypal thing is sorted out

Absolutely no chance of Umbro getting involved in anything that would undermine the FAI/Eircom sponsorship, as it would compromise theIr own sponsorship deal with FAI.
AFAIK, Umbro's contract with FAI specifically prevents them from producing any replica team shirts, regardless of size, with an FAI logo unless it had an Eircom logo.
They may be prepared to produce a 'super size' green jersey but it will not be an Ireland replica nor will it have the FAI logo.

If you check the flag/banner thread you will see that we are trying to organise to get flag/banner made for all the european qualifier games.
The flag will have the Foot.ie logo on it and will say FOOT.IE ON TOUR
And will have all the names of people who donated in small around edge of flag. The cost is €1610.00 so will need 81 - 82 donations. Add name to list if you want to offer the €20.00 fee for the flag. Would need all money offered by latest end of july so we can order and have ready for 2/09/2006 germany -v- Ireland game.

Right Lads!!
Were at €950.00 so only €700.00 short of the total needed to order it.
So if you know anyone on the site please ask them to donate and we
can order it and have it ready for stuttgart!!! This will be excellent to have and it will be all over europe in the next few years and you all can be proud that you donated to make it happen. But we need a big push to get the remaining funds!! so please help out and as i've said get people you know to donate!!!

what about a harp or something on it - a proper symbol?

I agree - to an extent. I have nothing against "foot.ie" on the flag but I dont think it should be one big advertisement.
Maybe "foot.ie" could be put at the bottom right/left or the top right/left of the flag. I like Peadars flag - its a bit different to the usual - I think thats what we should be aiming for - something that is different to the rest and stands out from the rest.
Also I know I suggested this already but I think the idea of a number 12 on the flag is a good idea - different from other flags and appropriate I think aswell

Check out the Rebel Army Exiles banner here... (http://www.banners-for-all.co.uk/Textile%20Gallery%208.htm)
Cost me €155 in total after shipping.
Brilliant service.
It's light, finished with eyelets for tying it up.
Easy to wash, 30C in the washing machine will do the trick and it dries in no time.
Great correspondence from them throughout the production process.
Advice given on design, etc.
I can't recommend them highly enough!
Peadar ... what weight is it ??
For a foot.ie flag i would throw €100 if it is 300 foot X 200 foot. If its any smaller then i'd be reluctant.

Up to yourselves on this one lads...but I'd be chuffed if I could get walkthechalk.com printed on the flag in a decent size to help our Irish Football site get a bit more exposure as well as foot.ie.
I hope you take this in the spirit it was intended rather than seeing it as crass opportunism.
You seem to be Eur600 - 700 short at the moment?
I can't bridge that gap in full unfortunately, but given another couple of days donations from the board readers, I'll put up the balance of the money to make sure the flag venture gets over the line and out in to Europe.

my idea would be to have the flag in the shape of an Irish jersey, with crest etc. but instead of eircon's logo have the foot.ie logo in the middle. just a suggestion im throwing out, if i have time in work later ill try and photoshop what im suggesting.
