I'm heading up from London on the day of the game. Anyone know how much return train/bus tickets are likely to cost?
£54 return from Paddington......08.45 train gets into Cardiff for 10.46am....just as the pubs open!:)

For anyone who hasn't booked yet, at the moment there are ridiculously cheap fares on Ryanair Dub-Bristol the weekend 16th - 18th Nov.
The day trip is €11.98 return(inc. taxes etc.)!
Going out 6.30 Coming back 21.05. To get this fare you have to book before midnight tonight.
Even going out Friday, coming back Sunday is under €60 all in.

Hi Lads
Just to let you all know BmiBaby up to a few minutes ago had return flights Belfast Int to Cardiff out Fri 9.00am, back Sun at 5pm. total cost £88.0 stg.
pretty good.
Have booked this flight some months back at not much cheaper, is worth keeping an eye on, prices changing regularly.

whatever section the tickets cost £35 in. Grr!
cant get over the prices ryanair are charging to go to bristol for the welsh weekend...
from both dublin and derry you can get return flights at good times for well under a ton (and as someone pointed out, a day return for €11!!!!)
never seen prices fall as much for an irish game....i forked out 3 times as much for flight prices in june :(

What's makes it stranger is how hard it is to find accommodation in the city centre.

it would have been cheaper to fly and rent a car than to sailrail, which was 82 return. plus the times aren't so bad, and you can come back on the sunday, rather than right after the game. grr!
of course, when i booked the sailrail, the flights were more expensive.

Just this minute canceled a room in the Mercure Lodge Hotel for Friday and Saturday nights, two double beds per room, 60 GBP.

I'm sure if anyone is looking for it and they ring, it'll probably be available on the system now.

if anyones still looking for flights you can fly derry - bristol for 50sterling return. thats the friday and back on the sunday. not so bad considering the cost of the return flights back into dublin.
Just noticed that the money for tickets has been taken out by the FAI. Lets hope that those who go to this one get first call when it comes to our next big away day in the next campaign.
The drop in flight price is ridiculous. I paid well over a tonne for Bristol day return flights a few months ago.
Anyone staying in the holiday Inn on castle street ?
just looking into it this morning and saw there's an Irish bar (Callaghans) in it.
That'll be my base camp for the weekend

Only place we could get was the Days Inn at Cardiff Airport. The website says its 8 miles from City centre.Wonder how accurate that is?

Only a week to go!

Well put it this way, a taxi from cardiff city to the airport/shed in the middle nowhere was about £20. The airport is 12 miles west of the city.

That's not too bad then. Was half expecting to find out it was an hour outside the city or something.Fiver a head so!Will only really need to worry about taxis on Saturday night anyway.

I'm going to make a point of that on my application (like note: i was in wales and san marino) for tickets next time out.
anywho, i phoned the fai today and tickets to people in the north were DHL'd today, so they should arrive tomorrow or saturday (or monday for some parts of the south)

I sent the FAI an email this morning just to stress the point that they should look after people going to this game when our next big away game comes. Doubt whether it will do any good though.

yeah, waitinglisters who go to ****ty away games get screwed over when some blockbookers (who are aka event junkies) decide to go to the biggest away games. I like the welsh point system where you get more points if you go to ****ty ass away games

I am a block booker since day 1 and I have constantly been screwed over for the big day away games. I lay the blame at the door of the travel agents for the screwing of fans in relation to big away games.

sorry, i meant some blockbookers. how the hell do travel agents get so many tickets? their only source can be blockbookers as the fai deny selling any to travel agents. the best way to stop them getting tickets is to find people who got their tickets from travel agents, and backsource the seats to the people. like that section in the home programmes trying to root out touts (one of the best ideas the fai have had in years)

'Opening can of worms'!!!!!
Well there are 2 possible ways they get their away tickets:
1) They source their complete allocation (100+ tickets usually) from individual block bookers who have been successful in the ballot and no longer wish to travel (I have never been contact by a travel agent).
2) They get their tickets via some corporate/third party allocation from the FAI.

I was reading in the Star this morning that the Football Association of Wales, when asked how many tickets had been sold by the FAI, stated that they had sold about 6,000 tickets for the Irish end. I know that it's a cheap weekend away but that's still great support for a meaningless end of campaign game. I realise that most people would have booked this when we were still in with a chance but I think that most of us felt we'd be going here with nothing to play for. At least whoever gets the manager's job will know that the support is there anyway.

Weather (http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?id=1424) is looking rotten wet but at least the wind ain't too bad, we won't have a Faroes incident with fans getting stuck at ports due to wind/storms/fog etc
Not ballax freezing either for this time of year, but with the rain, we'll just have to stay in the pub all day/night :D

With loads of labels with names printed on them left over after the double header  I don't think so. They will only be provided on request and to a selected few, some of whom might get their own sheet (again )
