I was registered here before Wexford Youths existed, at the time I had little more than a passing interest in the league of Ireland, add to that the fact that I like to watch passing football and hey presto a username is born. It's now become my regular username for various fora.

brianw82
20/11/2008, 4:41 PM
Brian is my first name and W is the first initial of my surname. 1982 is the year of my birth. Stick them all in a big blender with some steroids and protein powder and you get brianw82.

rambler14
20/11/2008, 6:49 PM
I support Cobh Ramblers hence "Rambler". I wanted that username but what do ya know someone already had it! So seeing as i'm a goalkeeper I tried "Rambler1".......same result. Then I thought long and hard and said i'd give my lucky number a try......14!
It worked and that is why i'm now known as "Rambler 14"

When UCD to were in the First Division regularly, I went to Dalymount on a Friday to watch proper football and hung out with a wide group of fans from mostly Dublin LoI clubs, some of them were Bohs fans.
They gave me the nickname Harpo, because I had curly-wee hair at the time. They didn't tell me at first of course, but I was flattered it was one of by better nicknames. Anyway it stuck because I don't mind people using it. Only LoI circles use it though.
Other is my surname.

I'm keeping a low profile. I thought I got found out earlier, but I think I've got away with it.

Am totally bored of my username now... we've been through eleven years together and I think it's almost divorce time! Also I'm 27 now and I think the kid part is sorta misrepresentative (the other two parts probably still more relevent than I'd like! :p). I would be reluctant to change mostly because dahamsta won't let me I'd imagine and also because it would lend a degree of undeserved creativity to the countless clever clogs over the years who, tied in knots by my flawless logical arguments, stoop to responding with 'You really are a sad loser kid'. I can practically see people itching to respond in that fashion even as they read this! :)

Years and years ago I was in Turners' Cross with the then girlfriend for a Cork-Bray match. As we were leaving a couple of Cork fans recognised me and started calling 'sadloserkid, sadloserkid' (it's never slk when they meet you of course...). My girlfriend's look was very clearly saying, 'Are you going to let them call you that?' Ah the memories... :)

A mundane reason. The usual.

I was abandoned in the Pine Forest at 18 months old. A pack of local Wolves raised me as their own.

I remained with the Wolves for 10 years until I was discovered by wandering pack of Hill Walkers in 1985.

The toilet training is coming along nicely, thanks.

I know it wasn't you Wolfie 'cos you mentioned you are toilet trained. These lads just piddled in the open at the side of the stand. In fairness, the area 30yrds away with a 10ft sign marked 'TOILETS' would have been tough for them to read.

a thread for people to explain, if they so desire, the reason and rationale behind their username. I notice alot of people get mine wrong (St.Stu and StSku being a couple of the common ones)...

There are a few usernames out there that make me chuckle too so hopefully will get an answer on some of them.

Anyhoo, ill start it off

SkStu

Sk = Saskatchewan (where im living)
Stu = Stu

Its been about 10 years, but I have always maintained:

theworm = Dennis Rodman
23, 45 = Michael Jordan's numbers

My brother has another theory that theworm is based off of Scotty 2 Hotty, who was a professional wrestler in those days who I liked, but was not one of my favorites (so I don't think I'd have included it)

Eminence Grise
11/01/2011, 8:53 PM
The power behind the throne.

Partly because I’m a Francophile. I did a course in college and discovered it was the nickname of Cardinal Richelieu’s private secretary, whose name I’ve since forgotten. Partly because as I got older (and greyer!) I started lecturing in political communication, and got involved with a party at a modestly influential level. Now, I find that a lot of my former students are junior eminences grises, working with politicians and lobby firms and even the FAI.

But mostly because I’ m happier working behind the scenes on strategy, than out front in the limelight. Basically I’m a shy megalomaniac.

My hundredth post – and it’s turned into something of a confession...

Spudulika
12/01/2011, 8:33 AM
From Harry Enfield and Chums - The Slobs. Wayne and Waynetta were discussing what to name their new baby (the eldest being Frogmella). It was a choice of Canoe, like Keanu Reeves, or Spudulika - "Because it's exotic". It stuck in my head since and it's just one of those classic pair of comedy characters that there has to be something related to them on foot.ie. The sketch where Wayne is thrown out for loving his children too much and Waynetta not having a "braahn" baby (they were brown but that was just dirt), he rocks up at Naomi Campbells house, then runs away on her telling her she's too fat, she then turns up and offers him one of his sextuplets. Classical!

I chose Galway Harps because I'm a Harps fan that lives in Galway and for some reason I couldn't choose my usual Mr A handle.

That still annoys me to be honest.

Stupidly(and definitely boring), I was drinking when I signed up and for some odd reason I used the name of the cul de sac I live in as a username. Smart move, I should sign up a new account but as I have only one email address I think I'm stuck with horton. Oh well.
