we're playin glenavon in a cupla weeks too. i think carlos has plenty of potential&was improving everytime he played as the season went on. i wouldn't write him off yet.
dublin city have made offers for 2 of our trialists(peers&treacy i'd say). they wana sign for rovers&are impressed with facilities etc. but it's all about money in the end. the aim for the squad this year will be 14 full time& 4 part time backed up by u21s, if needed. once again this aim can only be achieved if we get money in soon.

why would anyone choose a team with no home ground and with less than 100 fans over us?? surely they will choose rovers over dublin city! i heard that the press conference was meant to be on yesterday but it was put off till tuesday because two players were reconsidering!

Well Peers is from Dublin so it might be handier for him to play with a Dublin club. But this new proposal that's looking likely will knock Dublin City out of the Premier for 2007 in my opinion so he should choose us:).
EDIT: I'm not saying we're guaranteed into this new league either, but we have more of a chance than Dublin City anyway.

I heard a whisper, that one of our local players is far from happy with the offer he previously accepted, and wants a new offer.
If thats the case, there could be a shock exit. That could be the reason the press conferance was postponed.

most of the players seem pretty loyal to the cause but it'd pi$$ me off one of em was holding the club at ransom&disrupting our chances of a potentially great season considering that sligo rovers fans have always got behind our local players

I know for a fact! One of our best preformers over the last few years was insulted when he was offered a contract! He was asked to go full time and the money was very bad!We talk about loyalty why cant Sligo Rover be loyal to there local lads who give it everything every time they put on the jersey? For far to long we have payed guy who could,nt give a damm once there money was there after the game!

Lads, what do ye think about re-signing Kenneth O'Malley as goalkeeping cover? I know he was out injured, but as far as I know he is over that now. Is Treacy still on trial or has he signed for Dublin City?

Think I can safely say that Treacy will not be signing for Dublin City, seemed to make an absolute mess of the friendly he played last weekend. Had a shocker.

if you're talking about mct thats not true.he asked for a ridiculous amount of money that no club in ireland would give him.

I asked Doncaster fans on another forum for their opinions of Hughes. I got two responses so far:
Not up to league 1 standard. Scored once or maybe twice but looked like a fish out of water. Never really in the game.
I'd say donnydave is being very kind to Hughes with his words. The woeful performance against Yeovil to finish our pathetic Christmas period off will live long in the memory. All the best to him though:o

McT isnt that good anyway. there are alot better strikers out there, wouldnt mind losing him only we are short at the front already. McT wont score the amount of goals we need to do well. Cant see him scoring more then 12/13 in the premier division

I only saw him play a couple of times as he was not really a first team regular. We have had a rather unsettled midfield this season at Rovers so some players have come in for criticism and others seem to be able to do no wrong. Unfortunately for Adam he drifted out of games and became the brunt of some fairly hefty stick from sections of the crowd. However to be fair to them I did not really see him shine. I think the general concensus was that he was not suited to this level of play and had he not gone to you would probably have gone to a league 2 team or higher conference. I wish him, as all ex-Rovers players, well for the future......

Sligo had talks with one of our players after the game looking to sign him. Looks like another Donegal lad will be playing his football away from Finn Park.
Any more info on him, name? position? etc.
Seamie Coleman. He played center (was wearing no 5) back yesterday but normally plays right back. He made his debut for the irish schoolboys last week......
