He could argue in court that if he'd been allowed to stay, we'd have made the playoff.
What Ireland do now has absolutely zero bearing on if we get a playoff. It's all in the hands of other teams.

If this post is true, why have the FAI stuck with him so long? Madness. I was convinced the only thing saving his job was the fact that the FAI have no money.
AFAIK, the clause was that he could be sacked with no payoff once qualification was mathematically impossible.

[QUOTE=D24Saint;2161536]The only thing that would save face would be a job in the SPL or even League one. He has achieved a lot in the domestic game for his age and the international job came at a perfect time in his career. It’s all ended in tears but that’s life he will have to move on next year. He could always take an obscure international job.[/QUOTE
Well let's hope it's rangers, we can start enjoying his defeats
Zero chance anyone outside of Ireland would touch the bluffer.

If true then they should announce on Thursday he's gone. Thank him for his service but that's it's time to part ways. Think everyone knew after Greece away his time was up. That they'd have gotten their list of candidates, Marc Canham supposedly in charge of head hunting the next manager, and ready to start interviews after the recent games.
:D:D:D No he isn't. This is the FAI you're talking about. The process starts and only starts when there's a role to be filled. That is not the case atm. And with the FAI budget, there won't be anyone headhunted either. Instead it will be a FAI official begging the agent of a washed up EFL coach to please take the job. "You're our 6th choice, but everyone else above on the list joined the queue to take those Leyton Orient and Southend gigs instead."
If someone wants to organise a whip round I'll happily throw a few quid into a bucket.
But seriously. Why is he still there? What are they waiting on?
Because he's under contract. That might have something to do with it.
10 years ago when Trap was fired, it took two months to get a new manager, and because of that, the last games in the group were with a caretaker. The reality is, nobody wanted the job then and nobody wants it now either. The man who eventually took it at the time, only did so when he was eventually persuaded that there was no alternatives at club level. He swiftly marked his new appointment by winning 1 of his first 9 games.
The only man who wants it is the man who currently has it. He's the only one willing to take the measly salary on offer, and the only one who sees it as the prestigious job it is. The rest want to get back into the club game asap, and would quit the job as soon as they could, regardless of how it affected us.
I said before that this is the worst side in living memory, and it still is. 3 points from 5 games is an all time low. At the end of the day, we have no forwards capable of scoring goals to win us games, and any that are, are useless to us if they're "injured". You can have 10 new managers in charge, but until that situation changes, we're not qualifying for anything.
