Still a young guy. Has all the physical tools. Ultimately he’s part of a very poor team right now and it’s not a great environment for a young striker. Wouldn’t be giving up on him just yet. Not getting a load of game time this season which probably isn’t helping.

Scores with a deflected effort in the Sheffield derby today. Hopefully that's the start of him coming back into form, because I still think he can be an important player for us. Still only 22, almost a year younger than Troy. Maybe AZ should try and sign him!

A goal today after 2 minutes away to Leicester

Kind of surprised he's even starting!

Be great if he came good and was an option, even going into the March playoffs.

Wilder has switched to a 2 up front and has started playing Cannon centrally whereas Sellers had been playing him out on the wing. Similarly to Azaz for Ireland, players will unsurprisingly play better when they're picked in their correct position.

Goal for Cannon tonight!

A short corner routine works wonders for the visitors, and Tom Cannon is left in acres of space at the back post to volley home.

Yep. Robinson scored for Cardiff too.

Cannon with another smart finish against his former club, Leicester. Has now scored more goals than Idah in the Championship this season, despite having been played out of position on the wing for the first chunk of the season when Ruben Selles was making a mess of managing Sheffield United. So another, alongside Armstrong, moving into the possibles column for March.

Gradually winning the fans around after a load of criticism. Will hopefully get a god run of games now, as looks like Campbell & Ings have underwhelmed. Remember going to Preston seeing him run the show compared to Delap and Parrott, who were both there on loan. Would be great to see him get his confidence back as his movement and striking ability can be quality.

The gist of it with Cannon is that he's no good out wide and he can struggle as a lone striker. However as a second striker alongside someone else he's very effective. Which actually potentially suits how we set up. Realistically he's maybe not competing with Parrott and Ferguson to be our number 9, he's competing with Ogbene and Armstrong, among others, to partner one of them.

Of course, you could also just start both of Parrott and Ferguson, but I like the idea of holding Ferguson in reserve to bring on in the second half.

Had a great game today, winning most of the duels and very unlucky not to score. He's very Parrot-like and I think a move to continent would do him wonders

He is very settled in the middle of England though, it's not a coincidence that all his clubs have been in the english midlands and north, he has chosen moves specifically based on geography at times. I think he'll have a really good career in the Championship and will be a solid long term squad option for us.

Interesting..do you think he's peaking in the championship then? I was hopeful he had another level or two that he might reach

You'd never know. He's a year younger than Parrott but he just hasn't kicked on yet the way Troy has. If I was guessing now I'd say Championship stalwart with a season or two at some point in the EPL via a promotion, but I could be wrong.

Not a regular starter in recent weeks, but came on in the 59th minute and scored a few minutes later.
