Too ****ing easy there unfortunately.
You could blame most of the defence for that really.

Woeful defending. Three Ukrainians lined up for the tap in, unmarked.

And that is why I didn’t comment on McClean earlier. He is just not an international player. But have no one else suitable for this game.

I was similarly unimpressed during his first half vs Scotland. Of course it’s easy to look good when we’re leading 3-0

Festy was supposed to be there. Alan Browne still on unfortunately

two Irish players stopped on edge of box with 3 Ukranians sprinting in for a tap in.
Easy to blame McClean but he at least got back

And four defenders all got back to cover the ball across the six-yard box and none of them were looking to see where the Ukrainians players were.

He had several seconds to get back on the right side of the player he was supposed to be covering prior to the pass but wasn’t tuned in. Yes it’s easy to blame him in that scenario

I wasn't saying he wasn't at fault at all just that he recovered his position (albeit was easily beaten then) others didn't seem to try as hard
We have kept going which is encouraging

Robinson appears to be way off the pace, if he doesn't get it into his feet he loses it

Robinson well off it alright. Browne is disastrous

The composure from Collins to kill that ball and spin the attacker who'd have been in on goal with any mistake - that was Paul McGrath level stuff

Very disappointed to see Hourihane for Knight. I don't like that change at all. We are unlikely to score without Knight linking midfielder to attack, I feel.

England 2-0 down at home to Hungary is funny.
Them and France in the relegation spots at the moment

I presume it's just fatigue and a lack of squad depth

I’ve seen a photo of CR7 giving it holly on Saturday, 6am in the morning at a wedding in Knock, from a friend whose sister was at it. Must have been a heavy session judging how he’s moving out there. Knight and Jeff at it too. Knight showing no ill effects, the exuberance of youth I guess

As much as I feel Robinson has done well it's an indictment of our play the last 20 mins that we hold the ball up and turn back. It's frustrating

Wales equalise against Holland in injury time and still lose.
Second time this week they've done that against Holland

Very good performance, a mental slip at the start of the 2nd half aside. Finished really strong and probably should've won it. Cant remeber Kelleher having a whole lot to do in the 2nd half?
Role on September.

Tempo + moral courage = pride restored in the orange away jersey.
That was a really good performance. Probably deserved the win.

Finished strong. Probably could have nicked it. Overall that’s another good building block. I said I though he’d need 4 points to save the job again and I think he’s done that. Apart from the goal I though the back 3 were all excellent. Knight and Molumby ran themselves into the ground. Wing backs got exposed once or twice but they were always going to be weak points. Without Obafemi we lacked a cutting edge although at least we created a variety of chances including a number of shots from range.

Reasonable result against a tired Ukrainian team. Promising first half. Poor second half. Question marks remain firmly over Kenny. Hopefully Browne at RWB and McClean as a stop gap measure will cease to be during the September window as the talent continues to come through.
Kelleher did ok (remains 3rd choice for me until he starts playing senior club football), O’Shea is classy, Lenihan a real solid option, Collins is going to be world class (aspirational centre back line is Collins, Omobamidele, O’Shea come September), Festy should have replaced Browne at half time, hopefully Molumby will have a strong preseason with WBA he could be a longer term option, Cullen was solid, Parrott and Knight continue to impress - hopefully they will secure good moves in the coming weeks, Hogan not up to much and should not make squad once we are back to full strength and more talent comes through

Very good performance. Squad threadbare obviously hogan and ogbene nowhere near our best 11 when or if everyone fit. Need a left back solution and as good as browne has been his positional sense not good and he doesn't obviously have the pace to recover like maybe ogbene or festy would. Great efforts from Cullen. Thought Jeff did very well and lifted things when he came on and really looked for that killer pass.

Harsh. He actually put in a faultless performance. What do you expect him to do, score?

What more could kelleher have done? No errors which even when bazunu has played well he has fumbled an effort or mistimed something or raced out of goal at the wrong time . It would take alot more than 10 million to buy kelleher this summer.

That was quite enjoyable overall. A good result; thought Ukraine were slightly the more dangerous up front but not a huge amount in it and certainly Kelleher had little to do in the second half. We were pressing towards the end and it never felt like hanging on in Portugal. Not entirely sure how Kenny has gone from the shambles of the first two games to the promotion standard stuff of the last two. Hopefully he'll have learned from it and can carry it into September, because to go back to rock bottom again would be slightly mental after this.
