Could have went with a less mortifying name.

Limerick Grumps
Delores O'Riordan FC
The Markets Field Bandits

All off the top of my head.

All better than the name they chose.

If they'd asked anyone who knows anything they'd have been told about the issues with just deciding to call yourselves Limerick United.

But, alas, Con and his little committee of whoever's know best.

I wouldn't cross the road to watch them anyway and I used to cross lots of roads to watch Limerick play.

Limerick Rovers. Limerick Celtic. City of Limerick FC. Luimneach FC.

You couldn't make this stuff up.
With O'Sullivan in charge it wont be long until Limerick United / Munster Football or whatever its called will be back in the courts again.
I would urge all LOI soccer fans in Limerick to get behind the new club & leave P O'S to it by himself.
In Cork we have a name for people like him.
It begins with an L & ends in r

I thought today that we would have known more about the applications by Shamrock Rovers II as publicised in the media and online.

Disgraceful. Would the person or persons who pulled that name out of their arse please identify themselves. Where is the identity in this name?

So Conn,s... bottom up reboot....has had some kick start ,no diligence work done on name branding before the big launch. Then a name announced that sounds like it was discussed at the last meeting of the parks dept at City/county council.Best of luck with that lads

Will Limerick , the team of Mr. Pat O'Sullivan be able to field a team, does anyone know if they are actively recruiting players or what is the set up at present!

Will it be an all amateur team with players assembled from local junior clubs!

Anyone from Limerick in the know!

Things should be clearer (not necessarily clear) in the next day or two as licensing results come out.

Limerick FC would find it tough to cobble a squad of locals together...fairly toxic brand with absolutely no good will of any kind towards them.

I doubt they've recruited anyone. Who would sign up right now?

Plus no academy. Coaches or players.

Mr A

Just let the first 11 fans to sign up each week play

You might struggle to field a team on that basis.

Thats not correct we tried to get Bohs shels and Pats thrown out because Rovers had the Dublin Licence but it was ruled out of order :)
Could be two teams from Limerick easily , we had 3 in Galway before.
Leaving aside a few simple things like Finance and Logic of course.

Is this licence-related, or is one of Continuity Limerick and POS Limerick about to fold?

Today is licensing day, right?

Genuinely wondering whether Limerick will get one or not.

By any standard, they should not, but you have to wonder if the FAI have the stomach for the fight O'Sullivan would put up.

sbgawa
06/02/2020, 12:04 PM
I think the "new fai" will have the stomach compared to the old one.
The last thing they need is Limerick starting up and folding in 3 months when POS can't find someone to invest the kind of money you need to run a team properly.

What's the feelings among other Limerick FC fans? I have my fingers and toes crossed that Limerick fail miserably and are refused the license, I probably won't attend games if the club does get a licence and I'd say nobody will attend IF they get a licence.

Martinho II

Dont know if anyone saw it but there was a great piece by Aidan Fitzmaurice in Herald and Irish independent saying that there could be six clubs that could not get a licence at all. Athlone didnt send anyone up yesterday so I wonder could they be in trouble also?

If they get a licence I'll be at every home game and as many away as I can, same as always.

I'd accepted the death of POS' Limerick FC, and I'll admit the thought of supporting the zombified corpse as it shuffles along gives me some pause. The only thing that will make POS give up is for the club to fully die, and paying into games, even if it's my usual handful owing to residence elsewhere, only slows that process down. Will probably still try and make some Dublin away games though.

Was told last night they were hit with more legal letters and that pulling out was on the table. Looks like that was the case. How a group of people can't get together and sort this all out is incredible but it's Ireland all over, toxic and self interests above all.

John Grehan roasting the club and POS on Twitter last night. Claim's the chairman tried to strand him in Sligo at a game last year.

A parent would have to be awful thick to let their child sign up with POS' Limerick after what happened with Sean Russell.
