Spook - as in frighten, panic, unnerve about the prospect of some club other than Cork providing a challenge? Rather than being alarmed I imagine they would welcome the competition, if it actually transpires. Peak6 are hardly any more or less committed because of Desmond taking a shareholding - why would they be?

In the 2 seasons that Peak6 took over, Dundalk have won the league title by more than 10 points and have captured 2 leagues, 1 FAI Cup, & 1 League Cup - or 4 out of the 6 major trophies available.

Dundalk have had closer competition from Cork over the period 2014 - 2018 than what has emerged so far from anyone else. Hopefully in 2020 Rovers or somone else will be able to push Dundalk domestically in a way that could be beneficial for European performances

The key for Peak6 is likely to be trying to make progress in Europe and they appear willing to invest in the squad in pursuit of that

This is of course where the money is in LOI, unless you can sell a player, but that can be rare and besides Europe is a better return, DFC only collected 1.1M I think this year from Europe, P6 will be looking for twice that I would say, new signings should give an indication of what their ambitions are in this front.

Need 2 decent MF's plus a another striker, maybe a left back if Jarvis leaves.

It'd be great to know what the minimum required return wanted is, even if there is a patience season on season with building a squad that is capable of making group stages again.
Agree on the need for a striker but different to the type we have - easy to say but finding a pacey poacher will be no easy task. Could Kelly be converted from a winger to a striker? Has loads of pace, shown he has an eye for goal and can finish so maybe a bit of coaching, conditioning and we might already have a chap with the basic skillset that could do that job - Thierry Henry was an average enough winger in Italy before his move to England as a top end example. But that means looking for another quality wide midfielder. Duffy is a right footer playing on the left isnt he? If a left footed winger was signed then players could be rotated across the front 3 or 4. Would help when defenders double up on Duffy that he could switch wings. I'd still love to see if Dummigan could play at left full, such a quality player to have but covering a nailed down starter in Gannon and he can play right mid. Be a shame not to see him get some real game time!

Accounts for the club for the year to the end of last November show that its shareholders’ funds have gone from a near €1.3 million deficit to a €1.34 million surplus, following his decision a year ago to take a 25 per cent stake in the Tallaght-based club.

The timing given the covid situation turned out to be incredibly fortunate apart from the merits of the transaction on its own.

Rovers were fortunate with the timing alright. What was the 1 million loan that was “forgiven”?

It also moved into profit in the 12 months before Mr Desmond took his stake, registering a €627,000 annual surplus

Delighted with this!
