The club has announced a "consortium" will back it financially this season, until a "mutually agreeable take over" later in the year. Who knows what that means practically.

Sounds like some positive news. Im assuming that the consortium bankrolling thing for this season will be the same group looking to take control in due course. In practical terms at the very least it should mean no docked points for financial issues. It's certainly better than having an owner who is cutting funding and looking for an out as we experienced at Dundalk no so long ago (and yes hopefully never to happen again!!).

With the LEDP(?) coming to an agreement to continue allowing Limerick use Markets Field what could have been a total disaster for the club, well maybe they have gotten just over the crest of the hill!?!

Why would they not just take it over in the short term? Is O'Sullivan still clinging to control? Hope this works out but its a strange situation.

Main players are Tommy Daly and son Jamie. Don't know much about them myself, aside from them owning a car sale business and being involved in junior football and Moyross community groups.

Hopefully it's a proper turning point and not another false dawn.

The Town players will be wearing ‘We Love John’ t-shirts for their warm up tonight. Reports of a “John 360k - that’s AOK!” banner also.

I just want to point out that our underage kids have to pay for their own kit.

Would that not be true at most clubs? Supplying them all would be seriously expensive.

What's solidarity money for?

Bear in mind the teams train in the county until the clocks go back then into Hogan park for the rest of the year.

So that would give an indication of the money spent on facilities in the last couple of years...

Pat makes a virtue of the underage. Id be quietly confident he hasn't spent much more on it in the last couple of years than I have.

So I just wanted to make the point.

Is it really the norm for league of Ireland u19s u17s u15s etc to be paying out for their training gear??

That's actually ****in sad if true. I would have said shameful but then it's Irish football.

I wouldn't think so, socks, shorts, tracksuit top and bottoms at minimum are given to players at most clubs free of charge from what I've heard.

It is as far as I am aware and its a ****ing mockery of being selected for a League of Ireland team... thank you for the honour of billing me 400 euros

Don't think Harps underage sides pay for their own gear. When the Harps Academy first started up, they had to pay for training gear, but that was a separate entity from the national league clubs. Don't think they pay any more either.

Clubs underage sides have their own sponsors who supply training gear to the teams.

As far as i know all of Athlone's underage players have to pay a €20 a week DD to the club for the privilege of playing for the club. May have changed but it was this way in the past

My lad played with an inter-league side before we moved away and we paid 80€ a term all-in. I was happy to pay it, and for what he received I think it was worth it.
He got shorts, socks, full tracksuit, training twice a week, and a weekend game every fortnight. That was at under 12's and in Dublin.

Regards the statement O'Sullivan sent, the Blue Army are claiming on FB that they've had at least a few pullouts from their bus to Galway this weekend over it. The whole thing boggles the mind - it's just such a patently unnecessary statement to make. When is he leaving!?

I hope they've made that fact clear to the club through all available channels - including social media, to shame them publicly.

Pretty balance view here from John O'Sullivan: https://www.the42.ie/john-osullivan-column-fai-john-delaney-4578209-Apr2019/

As he points out, it's easy to understand how he has so much support from individual clubs etc. but it doesn't excuse him from anything.

Some say Pat OSullivan was probably pressured into his Limerick love Delaney statement, hopefully it's that or hopefully he genuinely forgot everything Delaney did to Limerick but I fear Pat wont go at the end of the season as agreed and is just licking Delaneys h0le!!!

Seem to have deleted my post by accident. Limerick players or at least some of them have not been paid in full for at least a couple of weeks. Sounds like major off field issues at the club again. Mike Ahern on Twitter offers a good run down of the latest saga and how it's come about

NeverFeltBetter

Disappointing, but not surprising really. Things are in such a state in the club. We need a clean break, even if it means sticking at or near the foot of the FD for a while.

Johnny Ward tweeting to say he's been in touch with Betting companies about the Limerick game the other night and points to some suspect defending in the highlights. I was at the game, nothing seemed overly fishy. Obviously a clear lack of effort from some Limerick players but I wouldn't suggest anymore than that

I think he's since deleted that post in fairness. There was nothing particularly unusual in the defending I thought (for the level). Certainly the keeper wasn't in on it! And the defender busting a gut to head off the line at 0-0 wouldn't necessarily be what you expect either.

Not to say it's not happening, but just to give the other side I guess.

It's usually only one or two in on it as seen with the Athlone saga, sometimes they will pull off the fix, sometimes not, with Jack Brady playing like that I don't think anyone at Limerick would bother now

Dalys got the group together and then went in as main sponsors of the club separately too.

Betting patterns being investigated: https://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2019/0425/1045684-fai-investigating-shelbourne-limerick-betting-patterns/

You hate to think it, but players getting dicked around with wages might consider such a scam. Hope it's just happenstance.

It was probably just the talk going around that the players hadn’t been paid before it became public. I doubt there were any organised efforts.
