General play has been good too. Key role in second role but not formal assist as defender touched it. Header cleared off the line as well.
Seemed to have a go at Seri at the half time whistle who had had a ropey last few minutes of first half. Thinking he was prime time Roy Keane, a bit odd. Needs to control himself

Beyond his goal and major contribution toward the second, almost had a third two with a header that beat Travers but was cleared off the line by a defender. Really great to see him turn things around.

An unused sub today; he hasn't started any of the last three games (starting I think when he picked up a knock). No goals in over a month and while it's hardly panic stations, it'd be nice to see him get back into the team and scoring again to keep up that early season momentum. Still at that stage I'd say where his next move is in the balance; if he lets this season slip away he could easily drop down a division.

His grandmother died in last couple weeks so that has most likely affected him

Replaced Sean McLoughlin on 63 mins, at home to Huddersfield, but had to be substituted himself after half an hour because of yet another injury.

He should quit football and find another hobby tbh, no point in having a career in football if he can’t keep himself fit.

According to the Hull manager, Connolly got a kick on his foot and left the ground in a protective boot. There was a plan to give him more game time on Tuesday, behind closed doors against a PL team. He might not be available for that, even if nothing is broken.

On the score sheet today vs Cardiff. Good to see him start back to back games playing 90mins mid week and 80mins today.

Could you move this to the correct thread please.
;)
Goal for Connolly. Another long ball, he runs onto in the box, bounces, takes it down well and prods it across the keeper and into the net.

Not struggling.
Looked like he picked up another injury. Sat down holding his calf and then went to the sideline but he’s back on. Maybe there was just a rip in his tights.
Szmodics just scored his 15th goal of the season. Another long ball, poor defending and he breaks the line then lobs the keeper from outside the box.

That is some goal.
He had a great half. Fine goal and also had a great first time volley from about 25 yards that the keeper did well to save and another chance where he broke into the box but got a bit crowded out before he could get a clean strike away. He might have had another goal when Tufan took a blemmer from a very tight angle that went wide where a more measured ball to the far post would have found Connolly unmarked. On track for 16 goals now. Eight goals in the first half of the season while working through a niggling injury. It’s great to see him do so well when so many had him written off.

Is there now a case for Connolly to be considered as first-choice partner for Ferguson, with Obafemi yet to make an impact at Burnley?

I think it's Ogbene's jersey for now. Connolly certainly a bench option on current form. Obafemi has fallen back due to lack of game time, thought (similar to Connolly) he is clearly capable of making an impact at Championship level. But Ferguson and Ogbene are making an impact in the Premier League.

To me ogbene is a terrible fit in a 2 with ferguson as he seems totally incapable of playing in a partnership always wanting to drift wide into the wide space and never trusting his technical ability to come centrally and link with a strike partner to create chances.. connolly or obafemi or partott for me are far more suited to that role centrally and much more confident finishers.

That's if we stick with the 3-5-2 formation. If we do stick with a two up top formation would like to see Ferguson and Szmodics get a run out together.

Ogbene is not really a striker though, hes more a wide player and honestly I dont think hes been great overall this season. Most likely he'll be back in Championship by time our Nations League games come around so I'd say it'll be all about the system that the new manager wants to see if Ogbene fits in as a starter.

Best thing coukd happen for us would be ogbene getting game time as a wingback like he was at Rotherham and have ebosele on the other side , full backs who won't be great defensively but you have 3 centrehalves who need to deal with that problem. Those 2 as wingback have the athletics to both defend and attack and are suited to coming onto the ball from deep as opposed to receiving the ball with their back to goal. It would be a pleasure to see that kind of wingback play compared to the total lack of athleticism doherty has been displaying for us showing absolutely m8nimal ability or desire to cover that ground up and down as a wingback
Started tonight against Norwich but only lasted 12 minutes after the keeper absolutely poleaxed the lad yet the ref gave a free against Connolly for a foul on the keeper. Mind boggling stuff.

Some referees give goalkeepers ridiculous protection. That's a blatant foul from keeper. Connolly clearly watching the ball the whole time

It's not entirely unlike the infamous Schumacher foul in 1982. Arse first into the face. At least Gunn got the ball - though that's not really relevant in the context of the foul...
Concussion and a shoulder injury Connolly has.

Call the Murder Squad ~ Well attempted murder of Connolly in this case ~ Surely the goal-keeper has some duty of care for the player ( Connolly ) in this case.
Worst case of a Brit on a Connolly since the murder of James Connolly.

Very similar and Schumacher was rightly pilloried for ever after. What kind of a ref would give a free against Connolly there ? !

Connolly has sustained significant damage and remains concussed following the challenge by Norwich 'keeper Gunn. "We've lost Aaron and for a long time through no fault of his own and the referee gives them a free kick," (manager) Rosenior told Hull Live. ...."It's not good news. Aaron's going to have to be assessed again in three weeks' time. He's got some damage to his ac joint in his shoulder and he's still got symptoms of a really bad concussion".

""He's running. We just need to take it day by day with his shoulder, it's an improving picture all the time. His concussion has completely stopped. Now he's back to normal being annoying basically. He was really, really mellow when he was concussed, so I was a bit worried about him, now he's back to being angry and horrible again.....I felt for him, the nature of the injury, what he gives us in terms of his movement and his pace and his ability to finish. He's going to be another good weapon for us when he's back. It's too soon (for this weekend). He's not going to be right for another couple of weeks yet." (Hull City manager Liam Rosenior, quoted in Hull Live, 2 Feb)

Not in the squad for tonight's game at Coventry, unlike McLaughlin and Christie.
"Other than Anass, I've got a fully fit squad and it's hard to pick a bench and that's just that's where I'm at. I make those decisions based on performances in training, based on the opposition and Noah (Ohio) comes right back into my thinking, and in terms of Aaron, it's exactly the same. Training is that good that there's certain players that are training so well, that it's impossible to leave them out.
"I'm really fortunate with this group, training consistently is very, very good. Adama Traore has been banging on the door in training for a long time, Doc (Greg Docherty) is always training really well, Cyrus (Christie) is training great........... " (Liam Rosenior, quoted in Hull Live, 22 April).

Released by Hull.
No idea what's gone wrong since that injury against Norwich - can we assume he wasn't taking his recovery all that seriously?
Looks like he had a manager prepared to give him a chance and may have wasted it - quid nunc? Possibly see where Rosenior ends up? But even then he wasn't giving him a game for the second half of the season.
You wonder how close we are to having to write him off...

Based on the first half of the season you'd have said he was a cert to get a long contract at Hull. Then he got clobbered by Angus Gunn against Norwich and it all went wrong from there.
Rosenior is a wanted man for a few Championship jobs. No guarantee that he signs him again though, it does seem like he was happy to release him at Hull before he was sacked himself. Still wouldn't be surprised if he got an offer from down the bottom end of the Championship. If not then you're looking at League 1, Scotland (but not Celtic, though he'd probably score a few for them), or another trip further afield. But clubs will look at his recent pattern of loans and transfers and will tread carefully - if he gets a Championship team he'll be looking at a 1 year deal again I'd say.

Living the high life at Wimbledon judging by his social media (the tennis ground, not the football club). May have to drop below the Championship this time if he wants to stay in England, a lot of teams will see the baggage and look elsewhere. But someone will see the goals and take a punt eventually.
