25 years since drawing 2-2 with the Netherlands

I know we only drew but it felt like we belonged with the big boys again that night. One of the most aesthetically pleasing games in my Ireland memories.

And of course we more than made up for it 364 days later!
Though funnily enough with a far less impressive performance.

One of the most aesthetically pleasing games in my Ireland memories.Definitely some quality players playing for us that night, and some that lifted their performances for us, I suppose lifted by the quality players that we had back then.

A day late, but yesterday(Sunday) was 20 years since Brian Kerr's last game in charge, a 0-0 draw against Switzerland

Always think of this game when Kerr is on TV for Ireland matches (and i like Kerr). needing a goal and you take off your best striker (in his prime) with half an hour left to play.

And on the same day, Davide Gualtieri scored the fastest World Cup goal in history (since beaten) for San Marino against England, while David Ginola cost France a place at the finals, giving the ball away in injury time and allowing Bulgaria to win

Can't tell if that's a good portent, or a bad one.
I've turned into a pessimist as well as a cynic (I've spelled 'c*nt' incorrectly for sure), so I'll take it as a bad portent.

30 years since Mick McCarthy's first game in charge
I think it was Roy Keane's first game as captain, and he was sent off
