Sheridans was his weaker foot though, so therefore millions better.
Sheridan was right footed? Maybe you're getting him mixed up with Shels legend, Tony Sheridan. :)

The left footer is Sheridan's twin, Kevin Sheedy, it's an easy mix up to make. Give CTP some slack on this one.

Without thinking too deeply, his goal against Israel (https://youtu.be/4r9x68LLAKs?t=12) is probably my favourite, despite the match being a torturefest.

I agree, this was his best. A great decoy run as well in the build-up by Andy Reid. Although Israel was not far behind either. I remember a cracker in a friendly against Denmark too before 2002 World Cup

I watched the game in a pub on Sky in Reykjavik, electric atmosphere at the game, the best friendly ever, then a switch was flipped and we were were just witnessing the ugliest scenes ever. I remember the bad feeling I had on the way home, probably would have needed to talk with Joe on Liveline the next day.
David Kelly had a bet on himself to score the first goal (those were the days), I wonder was he able to collect?

Didn't Duffer and Ronaldo have a bit of a spat during this game?
Good memory, Fixer. He was booked for a foul on Ronaldo anyway so presume that was it (yellows aren't given out lightly in friendlies) - https://www.theguardian.com/football/2005/feb/10/newsstory.sport2
Yet Kerr's team are not all about defending and there was again a smattering of good attacking, led by the tireless Damien Duff on his 50th appearance and Andy Reid. If Duff caught the eye going forward, he also impressed with his work getting back.
Mourinho, already without Arjen Robben at Stamford Bridge, may have been dismayed in some ways by Duff's effort levels during the 68 minutes that he was given by Kerr. It was a sign of how seriously the winger was taking matters that he earned a booking for tripping Cristiano Ronaldo.

i remember being a kid at that game. Ronaldo milked a tackle early with about 6 rolls and got a player, presumably Duffer, booked for what was a robust but fair tackle. Ronaldo was booed every time he touched the ball from that point on. Unless it was a different player who initially got booked and duffer laid into him later...

Worse than that, according to Aldridge - https://www.independent.ie/sport/soccer/premier-league/john-aldridge-i-remember-being-spat-at-by-portugal-defender-fernando-couto-i-was-tempted-to-smack-him-36702053.html
I remember being spat at by Portugal defender Fernando Couto when I was playing for Ireland at Lansdowne Road in 1995 and I was tempted to smack him.
My response was to shout 'filha da puta' in his direction to suggest his mother was not the best and then I scored, celebrating right in his face to make my point.
Annoyingly, the goal was later taken off me and put down as an own goal from their keeper, but I still had my moment and Couto was suitably annoyed.

30 years since Liam Brady's final cap, substituted early in a 1-1 draw with Finland
SFbDWUiJVswIts a pity his knee was shot. I think one of the signs of how good a player Brady was that when he went to Italy that different Italian Clubs bought him. This was when Italy was the place for the best Players in the World. You would see a top player go there and if the Italians did not rate him they they would be back after a year or so. Had Brady gone a year or two earlier he could have had an even bigger impact ! ! !
