Manager Shane Keegan is to do a fans Q&A shortly and the new jersey will be launched then. Mick always favours O'Neills but there are other offers on the table I believe. Hopefully we change, I'm not a fan of O'Neills

Hearing of a possible issue with Macron Ireland. Won't say too much in case it's faff.

Yeah the issue is their gear is sh1te.
According to the CRO Macron Teamwear Ireland ceased trading last Wednesday.
That could mean they're gone gone or it could mean they're changing name or they are being taken over. Interesting!

From a club that were due to collect new season kit over the weekend but left without kit or guarantee of a kit when they called.
Well it doesn't necessarily mean that A) Macron Ireland have definitely ceased trading, just that the holding company is gone and B) Nothing stopping the club from getting Macron from another supplier. If Macron Ireland are just gone bust then the contract is terminated but if they are conducting a strategic exit there is no reason why they cant make sure that Longford and Shels get what they are due and what they have ordered for initial replica sales while making sure that Macron head office handle any requirements throughout the year.

So what you're saying is that ourselves and whoever else is with Macron won't be getting any gear from them? Where will that leave the clubs with regards getting someone else this late to produce a new kit? Also, the Town had the Macron gear on sale over Christmas for the supporters. Some thinking they have the new Town jersey will get some shock when they see them playing in a totally different kit first game of the season!
Perfect excuse for the club not to make an effort with gear again this season anyway, theyl be happy out.

Cobh have seen the light it seems. Legea have fantastic gear, right from the kits to the quality of the training gear and various other merchandise.
We're going with them for next season now as Macron Ireland is gone as per Dodge on Twitter. Sounds like an upgrade based on this.

Is that confirmed? Legea seems like Nice stuff. Feel sorry for the people involved with Macron if they are gone.

No idea to be honest but I'd expect Dodge heard it from a reliable source.

so the new town jersey that came out over xmas I assume that will be worn for the coming season Longfordian?

No idea Marty. Ask Dodge (or someone in the club in an ideal world but..). I took it that we'll be using Legea for the upcoming season. If the players' Macron gear hadn't been delivered then the club would have to use another supplier. What they'll do about the fans who bought replicas already I don't know. Ideally they'd give at least a significant discount on any new shirt. Though the Macron ones would be collectors' items in future years!

Could be a case that Macron jersey will remain but club will use Legea as training and leisurewear supplier. Wexford done that last season with O'Neills jersey and Legea training gear.
Legea is fantastic stuff. Like everyone else, they can be a bit slow getting gear into the club shop, but top notch stuff.

Have tried to contact someone at the club through the official email account but as usual more chance of blood from a stone.

Suppose that's a possibility too. It depends how many kits we managed to get from them.

Was this a club official that you heard from longfordian? I wonder is this statement as a result of the news breaking on here about it yesterday or was it planned all along? Somehow I think it's because of it been posted on here as the club would probably of tried to bury their head in the stand and hope no one would of copped the change of manufacturer!

Looked at his follow up tweets, he's not officially involved but the club have sent him to a marketing and media conference tonight on their behalf so he's as good as. Amazing that of all the people who volunteered to help out with social media over the last few seasons they chose a relative of a board member. Great to see nepotism alive and well.

That sums up the Longford Town committee as a whole! I will refuse to do anything for them next season after this ****! absolutely disgraceful.. this individual hasnt being to too many matches over the last while.. it really makes my blood boil tbh.. will work like mad to make Outspokens website to make it a success as I have being asked to come on board! the club is afraid of the competition it seems!

Don't get me wrong Marty it's great to see the club finally getting its Arse in gear but of all the people who offered to help down the years they pick a board members son who was hardly at a game last year. You can see why people get annoyed with the lack of transparency

Club just released a statement saying legea are supplying the 2016 kit. They will also exchange any of the 2016 Macron home jerseys sold to fans over Christmas. Apparently they will not exchange the away jerseys.

I'd be the same if I had one. Maybe the club are hoping plenty are of the same mind! Though in all seriousness I doubt there were that all many sold in the week or so they were on sale before Christmas.

Not sure what to make of that. The pointy shoulders aren't overly impressive, but it's certainly not the worse jersey out there. Very plain though as you say White Horse.
Probably would have been helped with a white collar.

I see Sligo are still persisting with the fake star.
Quick straw poll for the Sligo fans... are you morto about Sligo putting a pretend star above their crest? Personally I thought Dundalk shouldn't have bothered, but at least we have 10+ league titles.

I could be wrong, but I don't think Sligos star above the crest is anything to do with a league win at all. It's for a former player or manager or chairman or something along those lines?

You are right. It is to commemorate a club man whose man I don't recall.
Why they chose to use the exact same symbol that clubs use to signify 10 league wins is the strange bit.

It used to be over on the right hand side of the shirt though making it obviously not a title star.

Irish clubs using it because Italian clubs do it is more mortifying than using a star to commemorate an ex player IMO
Yes I know others now use stars too but it's still quite a new phenomenon outside of Italy and it's a pretty ****e one too
(Although I did use to laugh at Celtic having a 'platinum' star for their European Cup to answe Rangers 5 for 50 titles)

its for Johnny Chadda ex Sligo Committee member who was there over fifty years. last time I saw Sligo Rovers with a kit like that was the 95-96 season under Steve Cotterill. Anyone remember that kit?

A lot of plain kits around at the moment the only outlandish one I've seen is the Bohs away so there could be merit in keeping it simple.

That's a ridiculous thing to suggest, there is nothing wrong and its commonly accepted that 1 star represents 10 titles, in fact if and when Pats move to double figures they will also follow suit.
Any club having it on for any other reason is cringe stuff, and in Sligo's case, open to correction, I think this is to commemorate a poet?
On the Sligo kit, I always preferred them in Red and White Stripes, Red Shorts, Red Socks, but I think they want to move away from clashing with Derry. This new top does look 'Very Pats' though.

To be honest, I think the only "cringe stuff" I see here is fans, particularly some from my own club, getting their knickers in a twist over an irrelevant addition to a clubs crest. The records show who has won what amount of trophies and that's enough for me. I'm not really bothered what amount of stars clubs decide to put on their crests.

Commonly accepted by who? It's very much a recent move and in fact it only came to be in Ireland because Umbro wanted to at it to kits in the mid 2000s
Aberdeen have 2 stars for the 2 European trophies (one of them is the UEFA super cup) and Man City have stars "to look more European".
Most clubs all over the world with 10 titles don't have a star. Rightly so

The point being that Sligo have as much right to have it for an ex-player as any club have to commemorate 10 titles, or 10 trophies, or whatever they want

Strong hint on the Twitter account of Bodibro, a local company, that they'll be doing the Youths' gear this year. Based in Gorey, the company is headed up by Wexford GAA player, Ben Brosnan, and the former Wexford Youth, Joey Wadding.
