Well Deady can play on the left wing so it's probabaly another right winger we need now just to cover Don

Longfordian

I'd say Deady will be a left back. It's a big step up we're taking, wouldn't mind a couple more with Premier Division experience. Shannonside/Tony Ghee seemed to reckon TC wants more midfielders and defenders but is happy enough with his strikers. I remember him saying last season that he was very excited about Ger Pender so that may be why.

Considering we usually play 2 up top Id be very worried if we started the season with only 3 strikers on the books, I think Pender can be quality for us too given time but should one of the SOS get injured we would be in trouble at this level so I really think we need an experienced back up. Was hoping we'd go for Fabio but he's gone up North now.

I suppose Don can play through the middle as well if need be.

In one of the tabloids today it says that we are linked with a move with Drogheda's Mick Daly. TC has spoken to him already but Drogheda are strong favourites to resign him as he owns a gymn in Castleknock and Drogheda's training is more manageable.

Yeah, I think he's from North Dublin which is a lot more convenient for Drogs and he said today he was always looking to stay with them. He has a business of his own so I don't think money was an issue. I wouldn't be surprised if he was made captain there.

had we signed Daly we would have had great options at left and right full so disappointing to miss out on him but not a hammer blow either, however it would be nice to see some quality signings announced soon but like I've said before on here I won't be getting worried until the start of pre-season as that's when you want to have everyone signed up and training together.

Didn't hear anything specific myself but Phil Munnelly gave a speech which he never did before. He was talking about sitting down with Jim and Tony and putting plans in place to bring "success that has never been seen before" to the club. He sounded really enthused about the club.

About the only interesting thing to come out of some awful speeches. Great to see Kirbs and Prunts present, had a wonderful chat with Seanie at the start of the night, so much time for the fans still after all these years. A wonderful night all round.

Found it hard to hear most of them from where I was to be honest. Didn't hear a word TC said. Gather it was pretty general stuff anyway. Good night though, over 240 tickets sold apparently.

I couldnt see the stage from where I was sitting so had to stand around the corner to see what was goin on.. It was unusual as well that were so many ppl present that I didnt know or I couldnt catch up with people that I normally see as the setup was massive. hats off to Arms though great job on the walls!

Bin Mohammed is very talented by all accounts but he walked out on UCD during last season I believe. Never told anyone he was going. Don't know anything about the other chap.

I thought that Ayman had a long term injury that kept him out! Delighted with the signing!

Mark Rossiter signs for de town! Get in, brilliant signing.

Longfordian
29/12/2014, 9:27 PM
Great signing. We needed another experienced defender or two. Not too often we'd sign a first team player from the reigning champions.

29/12/2014, 11:33 PM
Mark Rossiter is a top class signing who would be an addition to any squad in the league. The outstanding form of Sean Gannon and the strong centre back pairing of Brian Gartland and Andy Boyle has meant limited first team opportunities at Dundalk and naturally he wants to be playing regularly. I am sorry to see him go and wish him well with Longford.

Rossi can play right across the back four and in midfield - it will be interesting to see where he is selected. A contender for captain also

Charlie Darwin
29/12/2014, 11:35 PM
I'd say Cousins will play him at the back as they had a few problems there last year. Longford will be grand next year - they look good.

Longfordian
30/12/2014, 2:35 AM
Yeah from what I know of him he's a leader which will be important. I'd expect either he or Pat Sullivan to be at right back. We have Jamie Mulhall who's a real top prospect in that position at almost 19 but given the jump we're making it'll probably be for the best to have experienced competition there.

Charlie Darwin
30/12/2014, 2:45 AM
Sully's been playing centre half for you, hasn't he? I think he kind of lost it at right back after he went to Australia but he was always good filling in at centre half for us. I'd imagine he'll spend the rest of his career there.

He and Ricer will always get a great reception in Tallaght. If the Twigg rumours had turned out to be true, your visit to Tallaght would have been some love in.

Yeah he has, along with Pat Flynn. He strolled through last season as did Flynn I just wasn't sure if he'd played centre back regularly before that. Only concern would be that they're on the small side for CBs.

In fairness Charlie, we only conceded 19 goals last season. There was no problems with our defence. Having said that, I'd agree with Longfordian that while Flynn and particularly Sullivan cruised through the first division, it's questionable whether they're big enough (and maybe quick enough) to play together at the back in the PD. Delighted with the signing of Rossiter.

outspoken
30/12/2014, 12:52 PM
That's 7 defenders on the books now with the likes of Tyrell and Rossiter able to play In multiple positions so that's plenty enough for us in the defence.

In midfield we have loads of options in the centre and out wide you'd expect Lorcan and Ben Mohamed to contest for the left side with Don down the right so for me we need one more winger to give Don a push.

Up front we have 4 strikers with Sully, Shaw, Pender and Simon but with Simon only being 18 and Pender having only played a handful of matches last season I really do think we need an experienced premier division striker to give cover to the SOS becuase if one of those were to get injured Id worry about a lack of goals big time.

I am absolutely made up with the Mark Rossiter signing. He has relations living in Longford and is a Sligo man. His brother Ian played with Finn Harps in the mid noughties! Thats the sort of experience that we need badly..

Great interview with TC in the Sun today. I am pretty sure Ricer must have words in Rossiters ear about coming to us from their time together with Bohs in 07!

Longfordian
31/12/2014, 7:11 PM
I saw that. He made valid points with regards to not making too many changes to the squad so as not to disrupt the spirit amongst the squad and that the lads that had been with us last year and in previous years deserved their shot.

Managed to zoom in on the main bits, nothing overly ground breaking about that interview that's why I would love someone to ask TC if he feels his done in the transfer market and if not what positions he feels needs strengthening.

Macy
02/01/2015, 5:10 PM
Even if it was asked, i'm not sure why he'd answer, or at least answer honestly! It'd bump up the wages of any prospective signings in a position he identifies. And if he identifies positions and ends up not signing anyone, where would that leave the players playing there, or their relationship with tc?

Good points to be fair, some managers don't mind giving away their feelings on transfers but then as you've pointed out some managers would worry about these circumstances

Under 19 striker Dylan Mckeever sogned a first team contract today. Seen him play he's excellent on the ball and very skilful but has a tendancy to try and do too much on his own but I'm sure with experienced players around him hel learn when to play and when to move the ball and as a local lad it would be brilliant to see him do well.

A fantastic 3-1 win for the 19's today at home to Sligo and with Dartl Carrigy bagging a hattrick I think he deserves a chance in the senior team over the course of pre season

Longfordian
18/01/2015, 9:47 PM
Where's McKeever from? Assumed he was one of the Dublin lads. I was expecting Carrigy to make a big impact at u19 level given the level he was playing at but he hasn't really scored many before today has he?
