The Guardian called Randolph outstanding yesterday. Whilst Millwall won, Forde made an error with a clearance that nearly cost them a goal. Guardian also said McGoldrick wasn't fully fit yet and started on the bench.

think he could have done better for the first goal, second goal wasn't his fault and made a great save to keep it at two
should be extended highlights available soon

Eoin Doyle scored to put Chesterfield 3-1 up at home to Huddersfield and seemingly into the second round, but a late fight-back means they're not 5-3 down in extra time.

Carl McHugh scored to make it Plymouth 3-3 Leyton Orient in extra time, which it remains.

Cregg played the final eight minutes tonight and will presumably start on Monday against Bohs.

edit: that's a really cool initiative on the part of Exeter, although it's funny they consider Cummins to be an experienced striker. And if he's only £40k+ a year in League Two, wow.

Very cool initiative but I could imagine the number 31 is like having a big target on your back if you're not playing well. He'd want to be scoring more than the 4 goals he got for Rochdale anyway!

Liverpool and Anderlecht took part in the Otten Cup in Holland over the weekend. Liverpool had Alex O'Hanlon and Dan Cleary in their side, and Liam Bossin was in goals for the Anderlecht side.
Cleary scored the equaliser in the semi final against Anderlecht, which Liverpool won on penalties. Red Bull Brasil beat Liverpool in the final

Conrad Logan supposedly off on loan to Rochdale. What is really bizarre about Logan is that he is now the longest serving Leicester player on their books, but has hardly got a look in. Similar to Colin Doyle and Mark Bunn whose careers are disappearing as they seem content to warm the bench. Don't really understand them.

In one of the crazier transfer stories of recent times, former Cork City and Sunderland striker Roy O'Donovan is close to sealing a move from Brunei DPMM to Birmingham City. Six months ago he was unwanted by League Two strugglers Northampton Town.

Wow. That's quite a move for him. He has impressed with DPMM but, I mean, I don't know how many English scouts spend time in Singapore! Either way, Birmingham are very, very slack up front and maybe the Championship will suit Roy better than League Two because he's not exactly the most physically imposing.

A new series of Ray Donovan has just started on Sky Atlantic. Perhaps Lee Clark is a fan and fancies his (almost) namesake in his side. A 'fixer', if you will.

That's not the first time England have tried calling up a young lad lining out for Ireland, now is it? Just because the lad was born there does it make it England's prerogative to call him up?

Crowley, Scully and Grealish have all been chased by England. I'm not sure if they initiated the first contact with Michael Keane.

Charlie Darwin
19/08/2014, 10:30 PM
I'm sure they did, and it's within their rights and I have no issue with them for it. It's only in Ireland that we have the bizarre double-standard of another country actively approachng our current internationals while inaccurately accusing us of the selfsame tactic and likening it to a civil rights issue.

Olé Olé
19/08/2014, 10:46 PM
Easy now. I wasn't exercising any bizarre double-standards. Was just stating it's an interesting tactic by the FA with such a huge pool of players. I don't think I'd necessarily come down on one side or the other when it comes to actively approaching (unless I'm laughing at the IFA for it, those lads are gas).

Charlie Darwin
19/08/2014, 10:49 PM
No, I wasn't insinuating you were doing anything, was just pointing out how ridiculous the situation with respect to the IFA is.

Olé Olé
19/08/2014, 10:53 PM
Oops. Picked you up wrong there. Correct, absolutely hilariously silly.

Whilst there appears to be a free-for-all between Ireland and England (one which I think is fair enough, on balance), it's a bit cheeky to try call up a kid that's played very recently for Ireland and who's aul man played under 21 and B for us too.

that thread on bigsoccer is interesting see how many players who have played or are eligible for other countries they included in their under 16 squad . see quote below. the posters on that english thread have the whiff of been former squadies in derry hunting down nationalists. Some great info though.

I think the FA wants to get a close look to those who played for another country before it's too late....not repeating the Grealish, Wilson, Roberts mistakes....Bennetts(Germany), Gilmour and Heaney (Scotland), L.Thompson(N.Ireland), Scully (Ireland) . http://forums.bigsoccer.com/threads/england-u-16-discussion-thread-2-r.1943434/page-50

He shoved him face first into the dugout, having already caused two players to be taken off injured. Mansfield then walked off the pitch and abandoned the game.
