Have Claremorris got any players back this year. If they have they could be strong. I can see Urlaur and Killala struggling to stay up. Westport will be a strong this year with nearly all of last years team still there and with some under 18 lads making the step up. How are Swinford fixed for this year, ye had a strong team last year.

Could see any team on their day been hard bet in this division....Matty Hamilton moving to England in April is a big loss to ballyglass, I reckon Swinford and Westport B will be up their this year challenging for honours....

I think Partry will be the dark horses in the division, the best football team we played last year, Rangers and Charlestown should be up there as well.

even if charlestown were to win this division unbeaten, would be a poor season for them seeing how they have dropped out of the super league, think its between conn, celtic b and westport b, maybe claremorris if they're taking it serious

Conn Rangers in transition. May take two to three years to make any headway. A hugely changed first team can be expected in two weeks time

No i don't drink during the week, apologies to Charlestown. We played them in a challenge last Sat., they beat us 1-3, couple of positives the display of a couple of our young lads, changed squad, lost a couple of players through retirement.

Conn hawk
01/04/2014, 9:21 AM
Charlestown are super league.... Castlebar b in trouble to get a team together I heard, roundtower how many young lads are ye thinking of throwing in afterall the premier league can be a very physical league... Awful disappointed that 12 days before the start of the league and we've no fixtures.... As for Swinford FC tipping conn rangers to win the division, I think that could be a Jose mourinho tactic to take pressure off his own side ;)

Seems like there is only interest in Premier on foot this year?? Nice pull out on superleague in Mayo News credit to them. Little effort by the connaught which used to be very good. Havent seen the western? Soccer in all is taking a hammering in suport and interest with GAA success, imigration , and work commitments

In the Western they cover all of the divisions, its mainly talk to a manager of a team in each division. They talk too the Ballina Town, Swinford + other managers.

That dude from Crossmolina i think. He does the facebook page I think but im open to correction on that. As I said football has lost a lot of its zeal in the past few years. With Mayo and local GAA success people do not have as much interest. Even players couldnt be bothered anymore. I recently met with a lad who was with Celtic(A top player) and he informed me that he had stopped playing. When I inquired as to why he told me '" just too much commitment, id much prefer to enjoy the festivals and surfing over the summer'"
Thats one of the many things what we are up against!
As clubs I am afraid we just have to ride out the storm for the next few seasons, continue to play second fiddle to other sports and try and concentrate on our youth structures. And before someone brings it up....NO we are not going back to winter football :snowman:. AS soon as the national team gets a good run in the Euros soccer will blossom again and look attractive. Its a natural progression/regression cycle. :positive:

I believe some club members are prohibited from using public forums thus the lack of posts. So the few survivors on here are anarchists of the norm :mohawk:www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uc89WTEh-jE‎

€3,000 to register 2 teams for the league is another reason people have lost interest. It's money every week and that coupled with fines, travel expenses, referees and hour's of commitment to boot it's no wonder loads of people have switched off. Reality check is needed me thinks

Good, have you put it on Mayo television. You have a couple of tasty derbies there with, Mullranny, Newport and yourselves.

Mayo television? We're global man.

Ya its a bit crappy considering all we did to get away from some of those teams with promotion last season to get screwed over and being stuck with them again with the league restructuring.
Need to get off to a flyer. See how things go from there

Class promo for the start of your campaign.

Certainly a lot more effort was put on this than the Mayo league put in for the new season. I agree with some of the points Pixie was making but the people in charge need to start inspiring the players that have left clubs to come back and play the 'beautiful game'. Mayo clubs have fantastic players, coaches and facilities to showcase but no platform to show off to the wider public. Need an underground PRO. I second achillrover.

You guys had 2 or 3 better players that made the difference. That and the fact that no football could be played on that " Field" Lets call a spade a spade conn hawk that was extremely unfair to host any team on that pitch. I even witnessed one of your own guys nearly going over on his ankle. The mayo league are meant to inspect these pitches and obviously this wasn't done. Not only is it unplayable but it is down right dangerous. Its shows a complete lack of care and respect. I am not making excuses and you know this yourself because there is no way you can defend that surface. Even where there was a bit of grass it was ankle high. I mean come on in this day and age its totally unacceptable . Did you have cattle in it all winter or something ......shocking

I don't know pixiehead I think we played some football in the field, a lot of bad weather, it will be fine in a few weeks, so don't cry

Killala 0 - 3 Partry

Gave away 3 bad goals from set pieces in the first 17 minutes, against a very good team, could be the surprise packets. Missing 4 regulers, nee to get back to wining ways next Sunday against Snugbora away. There was a incident in the game, one of the Partey players done a late bad tackle, the ref did not book him because he said that the Killala plater involved had done a simuler tackle and had not been booked, rubbish.
