Hey lads, giving this a go. Some people are only interested in Premier and Premier A. Some of the oldest clubs in Cork play in the lower divisions. Also there are great players playing at that level, lets keep everybody updated by posting match reports, team news and general info!

Fair play dixie. I will post as much as I can as I go to a few games in these divisions. I hope lads involved with clubs will post also.

Third divisions look as tough as they were last year with a few new additions.

We have eight in our div so its 3matches a side

This is a great idea. I hope it works, it only will if we all contribute. The 3rd division looks extremely competitive, each team in our section have to play each other 3 times. That's 21 games excluding cup games, could be a long season for teams that progress in the cups. On the promotion side I think it's a joke that if you finish second you don't get promoted. The reasoning behind it baffles me, apparently its to keep a limited amount of teams in the second division but I think by not promoting the runner's up from each 3rd division they are weakening the 2nd divisions.

Great stuff lads, I'll try to get reports on matches i attend. It'll be a busy season for myself with Castleview but I'll always have a soft spot for Knocknaheeny Celtic because my Dad helped found the club.

About playing each other 3 times?

Good idea this! I'm interested in Premier but rarely get to see any games so a lot of the chat goes over my head.

Div 3 looking very competitive this time. Fancy a couple of sides from the lower leagues to have good cup runs like Leeview last time.

Ya Donaldinho, when i saw only 8 teams in our section I rang the AUL and they confirmed it's 3 times. The 3rd game will be randomised to see who is the home team. Unless more teams join the league then it's 3 games.

I think its a great idea to play each other 3 times. Even if you do get off to a bad start there is plenty of oppertunities to pull it back. On the downside as Leftside said, 2nd place teams should be promoted. They have extended the season to 21 games in the league so surely there has to be some reward for the 2nd place teams in the 3 sections. The play off round robin is just too much for the end of the season. There was not a whole lot between the teams this year in the play off and all 3 were more than capable of mixing it in the 2nd division.

I do and don't agree.

I agree finishing second really should be enough to go up. And the play offs can be to much for teams at that level.

But they are good to be involved in....kind of mini cup finals!!!

Why dont they just split up all the league and go from prem to div 5 for example like the schoolboy sections that would easily sort out the promotion relegation issue

Just my opinion

Spot on schoolboy. Far too many leagues. It's definitely something that should be looked at.

Fair point. Prem and Prem A....what's that all about?!?!

So after this season wed say bottom 3 in each div 3 would go to bottom div mid table 3 next div top two and a relegated div two side next div and so on something like that maybe

Makes sense. You'd have to change the cups then aswell though.

Give each league a shield to play for and just keep the corinthians

Might work. Bit of history with them cups though.

Is it bweeng your with? Tough div for you. Kanturk should be strong.

schoolboygodno9

Ya bweeng ya they should be strong but we should be also this year weve lost two good players but a few coming in should balance that out

We're only allowed 5 from the A team from last year and the rest the b team..so a lot of rebuilding goin on..a lot have moved on

Just my opinion
20/07/2013, 9:50 PM
Ya Donald but did yer B team not finish 3rd in the last 2 seasons? I'm open to correction on that

We've only the 3 or 4 from last years team stepping down..

20/07/2013, 11:59 PM
Still not right Donald. Sry now ive nothing against ye but the facts have to be said. Look at Park B 2 seasons back. Div 1!! Finished mid table(6th from bottom) and lost a cup final the same season. Were "relegated" to Div 3! Came close to a double and were promoted! Affected a lot of teams who spent years trying to get to that level! Oh ya they finished 3rd in a very tough Div. 2 the following season! The official rule is: if a team is pulling out a team it MUST be their B team!!! That came in after the Kinsale situation in early 2000s! Like I say it's nothing personal but after the Park B "decision" it's a disgrace!!

donaldihno
21/07/2013, 2:18 AM

Totally agree with you..
It is our B team..
Our A team folded..
We've 4 to 5 players left from our squad

Fair enough Donald. I believe Schoolboy has the right idea. Too many divisions and promotion/relegation rules seem to change EVERY season!!

This forum is a great idea! I've way more interest in the lower leagues and its a great way to be in the know!! We went back training last tues, playing Clonakilty west cork premier team in 2 weeks and Kinsales Munster senior team (they've a "B" team starting in Munster junior this year) in friendlies before the start of the season!

Lads, if ye have no anonymity issues can we try get an idea of who's involved with who. Just away of finding out what teams and leagues are covered here. I'm with Leeview.

I hope Kinsale realise NONE of their senior players are left play "B" football this year. League or cup's. No senior players are allowed play 1st division Junior after a few teams took the absolute pis last year.
2 Seniors a match can play Junior Premier still tho

Good stuff, we'll be seeing ye so. Always a tough place to get a result at Town Park. Our division looks competitive enough. Strand, Banteer, Killowen, Macroom, Blackpool. I think all those teams took points off each other including ourselves. Looking forward to playing Afton Villa, Rylane & Newmarket. Always tough to play against!

Yeah there is a few sides who would be aiming for promotion and overall I see it being a very competitive division .
