The second two lads have come through the right to dream academy in Ghana.

Is the dream to play for Limerick then? :)

Studies have shown that, when given the choice, almost 1 out of every 4 people would rather live in Limerick than West Africa.

Drugs, gun violence, sexual violence and beer, that's just a standard LOI dressing room, so in Limerick they'll be completely at home.

I'm actually happy about that. He failed his medical with us.

He's not match fit apparently. Only going on what I've heard. You could look at it as an investment for Shams over two or three years or whatever length his contract is but I wouldn't see it that way.

Very little ambition if he had a choice between the two Rovers

Mid table mediocrity wins out over a league title challenge. I suppose a four figure wage packet compensates for probable absence of European football next season?

Big gamble by Shamrock Rovers. An expensive half fit player for the last 10 games?

A desperate last throw of the dice by Croly to keep his job?

Unhappy with it? Of course - he was a class player for us. Then again, so were Quigley and McGuinness. He should be able to do a job for them, but in fairness to Dong, the talk about him failing the medical was around early this morning, long before any of the Sligo fans heard anything about him signing Shams. Could be true, could be someone in Sligo making excuses. We'll find out soon enough. It wouldn't be the first time we lost a good player to Tallaght, but in recent times it hasn't exactly done us much harm. Funnily enough, the most damage was done by our reject keeper. :)

Why would he be match fit? He hasn't played since March.

I'm assuming his deal is until the end of the season and strikes me as rather pointless considering Rovers could sign Xavi and Busquets and Croly would still play James Chambers week in, week out.

I'm aware of the fact he hasn't been playing and couldn't get any game time since he went there. Reading between the lines it is possible that we wanted somebody to help us push on for the league but he was too unfit for that purpose. Pure speculation on my part.

That's a bit different than 'failed a medical' though. I imagine he just wants to get his fitness back so he can go looking for a club after Christmas.

That could hardly be the case - it is too far fetched even for Rovers.

Surely he has signed at least to the end of next season?

I'd have thought if that was the case they'd have said so in the news release. As it stands, it's just "a deal".

Ryan had agreed terms with Rovers till end of the season as he was going to Canada after the Christmas and wanted to play football. Shams offered a 4 figure deal (not sure if its till the end of next season) and he took it. He never done the medical in the Showgrounds. Sligo town is always full of rumours on Rovers, players etc so thats where it came from no doubt. On the player himself, its a gamble. He is a fine player but his best days are behind him! He's not match fit but could do ya a job. Id have liked him signed until the end of the season but no way on the money that Shams are paying him.

I don't think he made it to Sligo, much less did a medical, it seems we were lukewarm (fitness concerns) about signing him and the offer was a contract at ordinary money until the end of season if he passed a medical. Some people down here are pished off about it, but I think we know our best midfield and Richie would prolly not have had much to offer when we really need a left full back. Funny decision for North Korea to sign him, but inscrutable is inscrutable.

I suspect it might be a bit of a panic inspired by Ricer's Eldinging the Dundalk full-back on Friday. You know how us Stalinists are. I don't have any idea what he's being paid by Rovers but I'd imagine it's less than whatever the rumour is that's going around Sligo.

Surely their is only two sets of people that know what he is getting, himself and the shamrock rovers board. How people could know within a few hours for certain he is getting way more than what their club offered and that it's a four figure number always baffles me. Surely it's guess work unless you see the contract?

It's like the people that talk about other teams budgets as if they have their accounts sitting infront of them.

Your whole club is going Elding, look at Jayo, Rice will be back before Ryan is fit to run for a bus. Lovely uniforms but is there any rice to feed the masses.

What's Quigley's Elding factor? Is he worth a four-game ban before the end of the season? Pat Sullivan is also good value for a strop.

In fairness to Quigs, once Bara summoned him to the office in mid-season he was a very good boy from then on. He can be more trouble within a team than to opponents, and I can't see him responding with the same deference to a rookie boss with no overseas experience (not slagging Croly, just trying to make an educated guess on Quigley's mindset).

Tbh i dont think having managed Scunthorpe would really be one to grab his attention and make him respect a manger.

Over 600 games in the lower divisions in England should. Like it or not, most of those clubs have a more professional set-up than anything in our league, and there are very few League of Ireland players who wouldn't jump at a full-time contract with Notts County or Scunthorpe.

If he was called Conor Draw there's no way Croly would have let him go.
