Lot of travelling there! Although I guess the home side covers ground rental / matchday expenses / etc.

There's only really Cork and Drogs that'd be any kind of a trip with most of our squad being based around the greater Dublin area. I'd guess that our pitch will be having work done on it. We usually don't play on it for a few weeks of pre-season. Plus as you've pointed out there's a good bit of expense involved in hosting a friendly with the fees charged by the refs in particular.

All not confirmed yet but I think we're playing Dundalk, Drogheda, Derry and Coleraine with a few more added in too.

A fair bit of pre-season action in the SDCC ground. Pity for Rovers it's in the Leinsters Schools Rugby Cups.

Harps won 3-0 tonight. Had a couple of trialists playing including Sean McCarron formerly of Derry and Institute, Mark Forker whom Limerick fans are all to familiar with, Gareth Breslin last with Derry, and Michael Doherty formerly of Harps youth squads. There was some American guy too, not sure of his name.

This isn't the Pats forum. and you missed one anyway: 'Good kick about for the lads despite the 9-0 result'.

I won't be going, for one thing I don't live in Cork so a midweek game doesn't suit, but I wouldn't fork out the 13 quid regardless.

But I've no problem with the game in principle; better than playing Cobh Ramblers in a friendly, even if it makes no money.

Cheers, I saw that on website - was just be a little scarcastic - as the fact he was organising this 'phanthom phriendly' was to bring a little mula to the club in the absence of St£ being forked out. What a jester he was! Shrewd business move by the committee!

Probably Chad or Todd or something.

Turns out his name is Sean Reilly. Was playing with a team in America called Lansdowne Bhoys. His father is from Derry, mother from Mayo. Makes sense now. Was on trial with Sligo/UCD/Derry previously. Blistering pace supposedly.

That was my third guess.

edit: it might be worth taking a look at right corner back Craig Purcell too, though it sounds like their full forward line isn't up to much: http://www.irishcentral.com/sport/Lansdowne-Bhoys-start-the-season-well-against-Dynamo-and-Central-Park-Rangers-169153886.html

Funny the manager of the team is one Austin Friel, who played for Harps in 2004. One of the worst signings I've ever seen in my time supporting Harps.
