Kyle, plus the double-barrelled thing tends to be more a feature of the second generation over there than it is here. Just some irrational assumptions on my part.

Fair enough. Kyle is a Scots-gaelic name derived from caol and is more frequent in Ulster than Scotland, as a surname at least. Had to look up his other name. Callan is most frequent in Donegal, Monaghan, Louth and Meath. McFadden of course is most frequent in Donegal. Haven't noticed the double-barrelled thing myself. The only people I know with it are English who've had it for generations.

Doesn't sound too pushed about playing for Ireland, but I wish him luck with the States.

Presumably O'Neill is another who qualifies through the statute black hole through gaining citizenship as a minor which presumably FIFA count as a permanent nationality.

The best part of that interview is that he's Maurice Fitzgerald's nephew. I expect he's a free kick specialist.

Poor young bonham. Horrible start to his senior career. At fault for two goals supposedly as hull get promoted.

Just caught the end of it. He palmed a light chip that should have been relatively easy to deal with over his head and back into the goal. The Watford defence were nowhere to be seen, mind, as they pushed for a winner to win them promotion.

He hasnt been involved with us for a few years I think. he would be in the under 21 group now along with mcdermot and mccarey I suppose. Hopefully he gets the run for the playoffs.I wonder will they be able to bring in an emergency loan keeper considering the circumstances hopefully not for bonhams sake

Looks like Chris McCann is on his way out of Burnley. This article mentions Norwich, Blackpool and Celtic as potential moves. He's not exactly a prospect anymore and will turn 26 in the summer. This could be a crucial move in his career.

Benfica? Didn't hear about that. He's rated as a good prospect in Football Manager, if that means anything. Good to see him and Cian Bolger at Bolton under Freedman - he's got a positive philosophy about football.

http://www.newsatden.co.uk/11566-exclusive-millwall-rejected-benfica-approach-for-wilkinson.html This mentions the Benfica link.
I found a thread on a Millwall forum on which a poster is complaining about Wilkinson for criticizing their manager Kenny Jackett. Further criticism for him for failing to refute rumours of a move to Manchester United after he was seen at Old Trafford, which was mainly due to him sharing an agent with Rio Ferdinand. EDIT: Here it is http://boards.footymad.net/forum.php?tno=369&fid=180&act=1&mid=2112732552

The greening of Bolton may continue as Marc Tierney is being linked with them which would at least ensure first team football for him.

That's a shame. When he was on loan at Bohs I thought he had a huge future ahead of him. I've no doubt they'd have beaten Red Bull Salzburg if he'd been allowed to play. Hopefully this is just a temporary setback.

Arter for the Premiership?
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2329498/Norwich-want-Harry-Arter-Bournemouth.html
Here's Kilbane's recommendation as referenced in the above article:
Arter, who stated at Charlton Athletic, is a London-born midfielder who wants to play for Ireland. He is 23 and really caught my eye in the three Bournemouth games I’ve seen. Now a Championship player, I think he can challenge Paul Green, Jeff Hendrick, Keith Andrews, David Meyler for a place in Giovanni Trapattoni’s squad.
Arter been very influential under Eddie Howe and was head and shoulders above against Tranmere Rovers last week as Bournemouth clinched the League One title.
He has a bit of an attitude about him, which might need to be curbed, but he wants the ball constantly, believes in his own ability , creates chances for strikers and himself, and looks like he can score goals

He mentioned a couple of times how it was 11 years today since he was released by Leicester and how it has been a long road back (from level 4?) to today's achievement. Fair play to him.

Yes, and to Paddy McCarthy too. I hope he stays and gets some games in the EPL. The Herald put paid to any chances of Stan picking him. Credit too to Garvan. I thought he was mad to join Palace instead of Brighton.
