i think pike were too cocky and caught by the element of suprise by westport.i doubt kilester will do the same, if westport are good enough to win this game i think they will lift the trophy but at this stage its all about who performs on the day.

Its hard to leave Westport out, after their excellent win over Pike

I saw Killester play in the AUL last season on their way to winning the Premier. I have always thought that as long as they get a home draw they will be very hard to beat.
Westport I'm afraid I know nothing about only they are well supported and beat Pike 3-0 in Limerick...

Glad to c I sparked a little debate about the semi finalists .. For the record I will go for Balla , Killester , Waterford & my shock(seeing as everyone is writing them off!!!) Bellurgan ....

good to see ye all writing off carew park by tipping yer last four already. i would not write this carew park team off just yet. balla and carew have not met since the cup fianl last season this is a very diff... carew side than last season. they added five quality players this season to a good side they already had. atlot of people think all balla have to do is turn up im not saying people on here. if your going to the match you will see what i mean i hope they beat balla they deserve a bit of luck and who knows 3rd time lucky over losing them two fianls

in case you want to know who the five players are

jason devlin (10goals)
ter bou...(14goals)
cyril maher (9goals)
paul quinn
mike mc.. (he plays on the wing great crosser of the ball great player but he is cup tied martin redden snapped him up when carew played holycross in fai this year.)

Tb, It Seems Like You Are The Type Of Person Who Backs All Favs In Horse Racing Despite Of Form Of Other Runners.
I Would Be Almost Certain That All Your Four Mentioned Teams Will Not Win ! Maybe 2 Or 3 But Not 4.

I don't put money on horses. I'm not a gambler.

Westport United were historically the bridesmaids of the competition and will remain so. A quarter final place is actually seen as a historic achievement in the town and the team is never fancied against Dublin opposition. Would be nice to see Westport United to become the first Connacht side to win the F.A.I. Junior Cup in 76 years but I don't think so. :ball:

if a limerick team get a home semi it is played in Jackman/Hogan - the rule is it is played in the leagues ground or if that ground is also used by a club ie St Michs from tipp it would go to the next best club ground in tipp ie clonmel

So the semi final venues would be Jackman Park/Hogan Park for Ballynanty, Carew Park or Park Rangers; Milebush Park, Castlebar for Westport United, Terryland Park for Galway Hibs, A.U.L. Complex for Killester or Bellurgan and R.S.C or Ozier Park for Waterford Crystal. :ball:

I would call myself a Galwat hibs fan.. Think that the team is improving rapidly with every game.. They have a bit of confidence going into the quaters but at the the same time are very realistic.. they will take each game as it comes.. I know one thing for certain, that is they are not afraid of any team.. home or away..
They would of loved a trip to Balla.....

Nope.

Ballynanty Rovers are the only side left in the competition that previously played in the final. That last happened in 1983. No Connacht side have competed in the final since 1941 when Galway Bohs were beaten in the final. This Sunday will give an indication whether that cycle may be broken, and Galway Hibs looks to be the team in pole position to do it but Westport United cannot be discounted either after their 6-2 thrashing of Crescent United in the Connacht Cup. :ball:

Reports coming out of Westport on the Crescent United game is that Westport destroyed them in the first twenty minutes with some stunning football and that 10-2 would have being a better reflection on the game. The squad form is reported to be getting better with each game. :ball:

Westport will not win the cup they will be beaten by killester(the eventual winners) they think they've the hard work done just like pike did and will be beaten. There is to much talk about them. :ball: :ball:

I kind of pointed that out already on posts 367 and 369. I did state earlier that teams with the least hype succeed. Crescent United are not even considered to be a serious force in Galway football and the report back was that they were a poor team. If Westport upset Killester United on Sunday, the winner will come from the Ballynanty/Carew game, in which I think the Balla will scrape through.:ball:

Hibs are good things

It's very interesting to note the level of confidence around the Galway Hibs camp, who are a pretty average side in my opinion. If what I heard about Bellurgan is anyway true, Hibs wont have it as easy as they seem to be expecting.

Lads , Ladbrokes have posted the prices for the matches over 90mins this Sunday .. Couple of interesting prices out there ...

4/5 Galway Hibs 11/5 Draw Bellurgan 3/1
5/4 Wat Crys 11/5 Draw Park Rgrs 7/4
5/4 Killester 11/5 Draw Westport 7/4
5/1 Carew Pk 12/5 Draw Ballynty 1/2

What do the Carew Park lads think of that ... Definitely over priced and very tempting!!

Also the bookies seem to favour Glwy Hibs but have only gone with the home advantage to sway the other two games !!

Your comments lads ????

Just heard on the grapevine that Westport have a couple of players struggling to be fit for the match against Killester on Sunday after picking up a couple of knocks. One of them is in a race against time with flu, apparently :ball: .

5/1 in a local derby! Are these people on drugs? It is hardly a match between Azerbaijan against Holland where you would get them type of odds. Carew Park at 2/1 at worst.

Who's picked up the knocks? If it's Lawless, Cameron or O'Malley(V), Westport will be seriously affected.

I was reading Target on The Star on Tuesday and I feel that Galway Hibs are hyped up so much that Sunday could turn into a recipe for a disaster. I'm sure that the Bellurgan boys would think that the boys from the West are a little overconfident. A point to Mike Rafferty; no one in Connacht has won or got to the final of the F.A.I. Junior Cup in 2005. There may be no one left from the province in the competition come 5:00 on Sunday. One of the golden rules in life is to never play leapfrog with a unicorn. One who believes in their own hype is the one with egg on their face. :ball:

Bookies are gonna take a massive hit on Hibs. I know a lot of shrewdies and they have massive bets at 4/5. When the draw was made, they were gonna back them thinking 1/3 but 4/5 is a giveaway. Get on now before they stop taking bets.

Any late change of minds in your predictions? If my mind is inclined to change, it could be Bellurgan Utd catching Galway Hibs cold or Carew Park coming through in the unpredictable nature of a derby game against Ballynanty. What are your final thoughts before the teams go down to battle on Sunday? :ball:  :ball:

Galway Hibs beat Bellurgan 2-0 in Terryland Park and Killester lost 1-0 to Westport Utd in Haddon Park. No real big shock as such in the quarter finals, given that the odds were very fine between Killester/Westport and Carew/Balla being a local derby. There was a rumour that there was 3,500 people at the Carew match. Carew Park are the team to beat at this stage. What's your thoughts? :ball:

Galway Hibs beat Bellurgan 2-0 in Terryland Park
The game was actually on in Hibs own pitch in Bohermore, not Terryland. The first half was quiet enough with hardly any chances for either team until the last 5 mins of it, Hibs had 2 shots on target and Bellurgan were unlucky as well when one of their shots were cleared off the line. Hibs looked like a different team for the 2nd half and went ahead shortly after the restart. Their 2nd goal came about 5 mins before the final whistle.
What can i say, the better team won on the day :D
