Isn't that why we let all the foreigners in for in the first place? :D

It made life so much easier, on the surface, as Irish women suddenly had competition. But I guess we got it wrong when we were asking Polish women that if they shacked up with us we'd make sure they got EU passports....err.

We're going to have some kick rear pick for sports in the next decade. All those Irish born (and currently paid for) Polish and Lithuanian kids, the FAI will have kittens sending scouts around Eastern Europe and Africa!

SkStu, don't deny the less fortunate the pleasure of a Shamrock Rovers fan, especially if they can enjoy the SDCC Arena without having to hear or see anything. A perfect date night!

Northsiders from Cork (not as in Dublin exiles who escaped the housing market collapse in Dublin 15).

Fair play to Roddy for snubbing Sligo. Monaghan deserve that loyalty after Cooke doing the dirty on them last year.

Barraclough is a surprise choice. Reputation for very negative and defensive football.

Roddy was never offered the job

Crazy stuff, it's a massive gamble, but strangely, I think it could work.

Some people have been busy on WIKi this evening

This is just some of the content removed by WIKI:

"He is also the League of Ireland gay manager known for his spectacular bumming action"

"he ceased playing to concentrate on coaching duties and recording his debut album, which used only inaudible frequencies."

"Currently Sligo Rovers manager in the League of Ireland. He says "It was my only option really, i needed money, they needed a manager, How stupid are they!"

"Baraclough is said to be delighted to be based in a town that has a Four Lanterns dining house and is looking forward to Hoppy Meals being served by the Hopmeister himself."

"On August 1st 2008, baraclough attempted to break the world record for most amount of rice krispie grains snorted in 60 seconds. His final figure of 37 fell just short of the record set by Gerard Hopkins way back in 1993."

"Due to the appointment, current assistant Gerry Carr will step down permanently to take up a career in sheep breeding. Sligo begin their league campaign on friday with a trip to shelbourne fc, with sean connor not expected to arrive in Ireland for many weeks, Baraclough will look to the guidance of Pete mahon formerly of St.Patricks athletic. It's believed Mahon spoke to Baraclough on hearing of his appointment at sligo, and offered his expertise in how to take a lead at tolka park, only to squander it against 10 men"

"In his native Zulu language, Connor is said to be delighted and cannot wait to get started as assistant once he reaches Sligo in 83 days."

" Ian, currently on a year long sabbatical from the game, has expressed his delight "I am delighted" he said. Sligos attempt to lure Jose Mourinho from Real Madrid and Declan Kilkelly from Castlebar Celtic proved unfruitful so Ian is in effect, third choice. He has a unique style of managing with his players with a no traing, beer only policy. The owners of Pure nightclub are thrilled and are only disappointed he was not in place for sligo rag week 2k12."

[Note: This poster does not condone homophobic opinions or abuse of rice krispies]

It's hard to be too critical of losing 22 of 34 games as manager in Scunthorpe, pretty sure the team he had under him was weak enough. Hope it works out well for Sligo.

Cook didn't have a great managerial CV when he joined either (likewise McStay, Sanchez and Cotterill) so hopefully it'll work out ok.

This is a really important season for Sligo. With all the money they are paying out on wages they must be in top 2 from the start, if not it could all fall apart for them and they pay a heavy price for their indecisiveness as regards Cook. New manager must get off to a good start and not talk about they future. I feel that they will struggle to be a top 2 team this year, while hoping that I am wrong.
